Wierd 3s timer coincidence

the next time you have a long gaming session, count how many rounds end at exactly 69 seconds, arcade or console:confused:

no joke, for the past few months, i ve noticed about 70% of my rounds end at 69 seconds.

on average, perhaps a player is spending 5~10 game seconds feeling out the other guy, 10~15 game seconds of getting damage in some way, and 7~10 game seconds as the finishing/defensive role(s).

any thoughts?

Your subconscious must be getting the better of you. My suggestion, quit 3S and spend more time with your significant other. If you donā€™t have one, get one quick before you find that you canā€™t do anything unless it takes 69 seconds, minutes, hours, etc.

No no heā€™s rights; during a session; itā€™s not akward that many rounds end at the same time, and this is due to two reasons mainly:

-skill difference between players
-each playerā€™s mood/shape on that day

I have many rounds ending at 77,73, 56

really? my ones usually end in 93ā€™s:wonder:

but on a serious note, my matches end in 60-70.

EDIT: Unless iā€™m playing Q or Oro or Hugoā€¦etc.

Games ending at ā€œ69ā€ has been a running joke/meme in Chicago for a long time.

It happens everywhereā€¦seen it in recent Japanese vids actually.

My personal opinionā€¦It has to be some kind of 3rd Strike biorhythm or some shit.
Like when you get to a certain skill level in 3rd strike, you develop a kind of sense for when things are supposed to happen and your unconscious clock takes over and gets the job done. Pretty spooky.

When I used to play on Xbox Liveā€¦I swear I was going to change my name to ā€œ66 secondsā€ because I would win over 70 percent of my games at 66.

another weird observation.

at the end of each round, players will either look away from the screen, scratch their head, cough, or brush their nose.

iā€™ve noticed this everywhere, whether it be arcade or console. seems like a subconscious tic.

the most of time ā€¦i make a time overā€¦XD

i notice that when i hit someone with a super, or beat them badly on a mind game (or vice versa)

they or i scratch their heads.

Itā€™s just a psychological trick people get fooled by.

69 is a pretty er symbolic number for obvious reasons, no other number between say 30 and 99 have that effect that people pay attention to. So when KOfiend sees a random number he just thinks ā€œmehā€¦ā€ each time; but when its 69 heā€™s just like ā€œOMG HARD-ON!ā€

EDIT: Although maybe it is simply a statistic.

:rofl::lovin:

I never thought of that. 42 seems like it would be pretty important. But 69 would come up more often than 42.

82 seems to be very common for perfects or near-perfects. Especially with Makoto.

I guess itā€™s a kinda nervous reaction:

If Iā€™m enjoying the game and I just raped I donā€™t wanna piss them off further by

A) Not giving a shit (arrogant)
B) Being overjoyed (obnoxious)

I kinda scratch my head, check my watch, something.

I totally agree - i noticed this 2 years ago but whenever I mentioned it, I always got dirty looks so wotevaā€¦

I brush my nose during either players super, or after matches.

I agree with yakoudama on this one, Iā€™ll always notice the clock ending at 69, but never any time when its just some random number.

yea
im good for scratchin my headā€¦after i get raped
either i do that or i look at my stick/pad and say ā€œwtf!ā€ to myself

I do the prime factorization of any round end timer number.

Helps me focus in on the next match.

in cvs2 i always get 666

You ainā€™t lyinā€™!

i definatly look away as if someone is behind me because thre has to be a reason i got messed up and i donā€™t like taking responsibility

hmmmā€¦ I play lots of 3s but iā€™ve never given this much thoughtā€¦ Iā€™ll report back in a few months.
