I recently played a G Match and beat a Geif in the final, who sent me a message calling me a “chicken S#@$ C@$” just because I zoned him the whole time. Guess he doesn’t realize how much of an uphill battle we have when he does move in.
Which is why I like to play as the ‘Sim’ in the first place!
I don’t use Dhalsim, but am I the only one who LIKES fighting a good Sim player? I’ve got to be on my game to beat him, no matter who I use(and I use a wide variety of chars). If I’m not, then I lose. Basically, I I know that when I lose to Sim, I got outplayed, plain and simple!
I used to hate Dhalsim. It’s such a chore to keep chasing after him while dealing with his zoning.
Now I just got used to the match up and actually stand a chance against them.
Still, I hate opponents who keeps running away all the time. Can’t blame Dhalsim though. That’s the way he fight after all.
Being an Akuma player i know how annoying it is facing dhalsims online, every time i saw someone pick him i would already know what i had coming. At the start i used to usually get owned by sims because they were all just hit and run with the fireball teleports etc, but i basically learned what works and what doesn’t against sims, so now most of the sims i meet online i can beat. Props to Dhalsim for being the most annoying character apart from Blanka.
I get loads of players DC on me of late…really beginning to P*** me off!!! lol. Balrogs, Abels, Blankas, giefs (of late), fei longs ALL seem to DC on me in championship mode! I had 3 DC in the final in a row in a session last night! And I get the same old message instantly after their dc “you are a boring SCRUB!”
I play the PC version and Sim is my main. My experience has been similar to what someone mentioned earlier: You got a lot of ggs and compliments, I think because so few people play as Sim and the population as a whole is probably smaller than PS3/360.
But then I played an Abel one day (this is just G2) and he beat me, and he sent a message saying, “I have no time for cowards. Come at me or stay out of my lobby.”
I get mostly the opposite of hate mail. Most of the time I get props for my Sim, almost everygame I get a GG or a nice dhalsim message after the fight.
It’s because Dhalsim reduces each match to a one-sided fireballspam-teleport-punch, clinse and repeat event. There’s just no alternation. And to be honest, those matches are quite boring, it feels like a running away, too scared to actually fight-match, you see?
Don’t get me wrong I’m not blaming sim-players for being scared, it is the way sim is meant to be played:) It’s the makers’ “fault”. I know it takes skill to master Dhalsim. But he’s just not fun to play against and very monotome to play (sry for the engrish lol)
Winning from a Sim doesn’t mean you’ll win as easily from another character. The same thing can be said about losing from him. It’s just a totally different match that you can’t compare to another match. That’s why he’s so unpopular with most players. Learning to play against sim makes you feel like trying to relearn the whole game (I know, a bit exagerated but you get my point:))
I hope the sim-mainers don’t take this the wrong way:)
Dude consoles are full of kids or lets say it better full with hypocrites that cant take a loss like a men and call everything cheap what they dont know.
Just found this on youtube, it lol’d the shit outta me.
Don’t know if it’s been posted yet but here we go anyways (a lot of profanity in this one):
Anyways, my thoughts on the whole hate mail issue are the following:
Hate Mail for any character is a Good Thing – The more angry and frustrated you make your opponent the worse they will play
So embrace the hate mail – every time I see a new message popup after a match entitled “Faggot Sim” (or whatever), my eyes light up with joy.
As I read through the whine I am only further confirmed that I played well versus the poor scrub, and I rest assured knowing that my awesome play inflicted his frustrations.
Remember:
A frustrated & insulting opponent is High Praise in Disguise for your play:)
Eh, I usually just lul at the replies, and more often than not I’ll just apologize the next day and tell my opp that it was the Jager or whatever speaking. Heh.
I’m no sim player but I can give you the easiest answer.
The style of sim you have to play. It basically looks cowardly. Feels cowardly. And people hate turtling.
As a gen player, chasing down good sims is one of the most frustrating things in the world. I’ve never hate mailed a sim, unless I was drunk I might have but otherwise in reasonable conditions a good sim is a good sim and that = frustrating so some people will send you hate mail.
Though I’ve been watching a lot of sim video’s and I’m very tempted to give him a shot. But for some reason I cant get down some of the simple combo’s like mk to yoga flame. Dunno if there’s an easier way to do it. But I’m definitely gonna play a little in training mode.
All I can say to you bro as me being a Sim player. Match-up knowledge is the most crucial to his game. Technically you need that trait for any char your using, but shit is pretty damn tough for sim. I got money saying that all the months I’ve been playing sim, if I put that effort towards a different character with more tools. I’d be even more competent in this game. And my sim is no pushover… Not close to the tops but I feel good about. Peeps just don’t know the trials and tribulations you go through in learning Dhalsim.
But I’ve really been feeling Abel now lately. Figure to give Sim a break.
Pretty much exactly right. Which is why sim gets hate mail. It doesn’t surprise me at all. Sim is pretty much the only character in the game where pretty much everyone has to fight him the same. No matter who you are the strat is all pretty much the same, some its easier than other but ultimately it’s just a matter of counter poking and attempting to predict his next move and get in.
I’d kill for a fireball whenever I fight sim or that gay bastard seth. I just don’t have the patience to fight these guys.
I started playing Sim so I can learn how to be patient. I normally rush down so much that I lose something fierce to turtle players. Playing Sim has taught me a lot about being patient and using more thought in my game plan. Which has really helped me on my main. But after playing with him, I can easily see where the hate comes from.
