Viper is right. Sim’s style looks pretty cowardly and it’s much unlike the rest of the cast who are capable of doing some close-range combat to one extent or another. Guile and Seth are examples of some characters who can do both close-range and turtle, but Sim can’t do anything in close range. The best option is always to fight away from your opponent and stop them from coming close to you for majority of the fight while also stopping them from turtling.
Fighting Dhalsim is completely different from fighting any other character, regardless of how skilled you are cause if you don’t know how to fight Dhalsim, you are going to lose against anyone who knows what they’re is doing. Though that’s what I like about using Dhalsim :p, he’s different and not overused like Ryu (yes I have some Ryu hate cause of the ridiculous amount of options he has in chaining hits <.<, but I don’t blame you if you use him).
SFIV is very balanced…and ‘sim isn’t even top tier so if you lost to him it’s not because Dhalsim’s overpowered, it’s because your apponent played a better match than you. Bottom line is, anyone who get’s hateful after losing in Street Fighter IV is immature, i usually send a short f-off reply and then block them lol. Suck it up and get over it. You lost. You weren’t as good as your apponent that match. Get up off the mat and try again. It’s a freakin’ game! Play for enjoyment and be happy for the times that you win, and when you lose, it’s because you made mistakes…learn from them. At least that’s my 2 cents on it all.
I got a pretty funny one yesterday, first one i was so happy. It read:
“that was cheapfaggot bullshit
anyone who plays w/ dhalsim is a cheap faggot loser
anyone who plays w/ an arcade pad is a nerd faggot loser steroids user
so in general, you are tops on the nerd fagg scale”
To which i replyed:
“Thanks cutie <3 keep in touch babe”
I either get extremely hateful messages(like voice messages where the guy us cursing so much he is literally stammering over his words) or messages giving me props for a well played sim(best dhalsim ever, that was a clinic on zoning, etc)
What people who send hate don’t realize is how hard it is to play sim, like the guy a few posts up said, you really need to know every match up to win and it takes a long time to get really good with him. Its also annoying to auto lose to characters you never play against( when I’m sim I lierally never beat fei long, but I only play fei long one in every 50 or so matches so I never get the experience I need fighting him).
Put the challenge/reward aspect of this game aside and look at it from another perspective as someone trying to have fun with the game. The moment you hit Dhalsim on the select screen, you’ve killed their fun.
Good players know how to deal with Dhalsim, so it’s not like I’m killing ‘their fun’. Plus Sim is pretty low tier in this game so chances are whichever character they pick will have the advantage in the match-up.
Will scrub shoto players be frustrated because their usual retarded shenanigans won’t work against a good Dhalsim? Sure. But then again I have no issue whatsoever with ruining Ryumasher57472748’s fun. Might as well teach him a bit about the game in the process and show him that shoryukens are not the answer to everything. It’s like a puzzle they have to solve. If they are unable to, that’s their problem, not mine.
There’s hate mail for every character I’m sure, people loose then find excuses, and the easiest excuse they can find is “omg cheap character”. I started sf4 playing ken and would recieve hate when raping people for playing a ‘flowchart ken’ when my game wouldn’t involve a single random or whiffed srk (or anything resembling the famous flowchart), then I moved on to blanka, would recieve hate mail that he was a cheap character (had almost all his moves called cheap in one mail or another - cheap ultra was probably the most popular one). Last ~2000 games I’ve been playing seth and the amount of hate I’ve recieved since them for using a “banned character” is ridiculous!
As long as you recieve mail complimenting your play to balance things out though, don’t let it get to you, I imagine the majority of people that down rep/send hate on loosing are just angry kids.
Getting Hate mail from Sagat players is the best. You don’t scare, i don’t scare. haha. I lose to Sagat’s in completely one sided matches sometimes, but still.
looking at everyone talking about G1 blah blah i thought i’d have a championship mode game (i barely play it, usually just ranked on PC)
funnily enough first game was against a sim, who couldn’t handle it when i found a way in from the 3 moves that he kept doing, and rushed him down hard with my rog…after he sends me a message calling me a cheap turtler
I love playing good Dhalsim’s with my Rufus. You have to use your brain. I played a really good one today and it was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, I don’t get to play many.
do most of you (or sim players) throw when your oppoent get close to you? is it cheap to throw whenever you can? i think it’s the reason why i got hatemail last night, this sagat player did a tiger knee and i blocked, so right afterward i threw him away from me…should i change my play style by not throwing too much???
You should use jumping forward roundhouse followed by crouching back + mk into yoga flame. That’s probably the type of play that others expect out of you so you should go with it.
thanks for the advice, it’s a bad habbit of me, i would mix them up but majority of the time i just do a throw. i guess it’s in my blood…i will definitely going to change it.
