Why people should support Skullgirls (even if they don't quite like it..)

It matters because of things like this, sadly. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/obsidian-lost-out-on-bonuses-for-fallout-new-vegas-due-to-metacritic-score/

Mvc3 was fun, just not super tournament worthy.

its a subject to talk about, and this thread seems to be a nice out-of-the way place to do it,

The reviews are a good ‘this is what people are thinking’ moment, and that’s important, whether we want it to be or not.

What the heck? I’ve yet to talk to a mildly intelligent person that doesn’t say “What the fuck is wrong with those epilepsy inducing special effects? And why do all characters look like they got an oil massage?” o_O

Can’t have much more…

I supported the demo for about ten minutes.

Now if they could stop thinking about things that are wrong, and that they can double check by actually playing the damned game the world would be a much better place.

Well to be frank, I don’t think the review is that terribly wrong, just didn’t wanna say that because, well you know :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m talking about the PSN one, because that one is wrong :-p

Why’s this topic still so active? The game is out and there’s a demo for people to judge.

Do people really care about website gaming reviews for Skullgirls? They’ve been skewed and bias for ages and they don’t really hit any good useful points for players most of the time.

Does IPS reset when you are using a different character in the same combo?

Game Reviews are a joke, is that really considered journalism? There’s 0 integrity when you’re reviews are based on if the company has ads around or is bribing for a good review.

I’ll have to go look that one up, not sure which one you’re tlaking about ><

edit:

Not every single review is corrupt. Some are, sure, just like some cops are corrupt or some newspaper reporters. The trick to reviews is to look at the arguments they make, and see if they make sense or not. You don’t just take them as gospel and say, ‘this site gave it 60% so I’m not gonna buy it!’

Hell, I’d assume everyone taking part in this discussion (or pretty close) already has bought it, or at least played the demo.

I’ve been saying PSN review all this time, now I feel dumb.
This part…
"There are a couple of other niggles: the edit controls screen is horribly fiddly however you try to change button commands – either by cycling possible controls or inputting directly, it’s unintuitive – but a small gripe."
How in the flying fuck is there anything unintuitive about just pressing the button to bind it to the attack?

Thanks, I’ll read that. And yeah, getting specific details wrong is goddamn annoying. Especially on that point, that’s like something people have been yelling to be done that way since HDR.

I always wondered why no team has tried to create a retail Steam fighter for the PC. Most sticks work on the PC and most PC’s can run 2D fighters rather well. Steam has to be a fuckload cheaper than XBLA/PSN to get certified and to handle post-release patches.

Steam is how most fans of certain genres that they believe have changed for the worst are getting their games. I know that we have always been a bit more console centric as a community but I honestly believe that the future of non AAA gaming is going to be on the PC.

I think because fighting games are a really massive amount of work, and its a genre that’s closely associated in peoples minds with consoles.

in my opinion, developers just aren’t convinced that there is a PC audience for fighting games.

Or most genres in general .
Sad part is that Dark Souls is coming out for PC but most people that signed the petition are going to pirate it anyway.

haha yes that’s correct.

they’re also angry that Dark Souls is going to Games for Windows Live, and not Steam. A legitimate concern if you ask me

I’m actually curious how well Skullgirls would fair if it were to be released on Steam (of course, the game would have sell well on PSN/XBLA first).

I agree on GFWL being an issue, while it’s DRM like Steam, it’s not on par with Steam, and probably worse than Origin as well. Since there is no cross-platform play, there is basically zero reasons to go with GFWL. I think they just go with GFWL because MS probably has more reputation than Steam does in Japan.

If you tack on TF2 hats with SkullGirls pre-order, that’s a lot of extra copies!
