True, but the twins didn’t get chip off their divekicks either.
unblockable damage > chip damage
I hope you’re not talking about that imposter Makoto. That was just a fake in SSF4.
AE to me seems like a smarter game. It’s much harder to play the game stupid and then try to rely on all the defensive options to bail yourself out once you made a bad judgement. AE to me, on a fundamental level feels like a smarter game. It may not be as balanced, but it feels like you have to be more thoughtful in your approach. I’m also finding that applying good fundamentals is more useful in this game as well. In vanilla and SSFIV it felt like I got punished too hard for playing footsies are trying to learn my spacing. In AE it seems like I beat people now by out footsying them. Things seem easier to whiff punish.
Yun and Yang may be good, no doubting that. But even they have to be played smart. They aren’t like vanilla Rufus who could take a bunch of high risk guesses and kill you on one lucky jump-in. It seems like Yun and Yang aren’t exempt from playing Street Fighting. And that’s the thing AE seems to be good at. Every character is forced to have to undertand Street Fighter to win. Daigo may be a Grandmaster Yun, but he’s fundamentally sound. In AE it’s harder to be randomed out. I mean I have lost a few times I thought were total b.s… but for the most part I feeel confident I have to be outplayed to lose.
My character was nerfed hard in AE (I use Guile), but I like this game better than Super. In Super people just did random stuff and got rewarded. If I set up a solid zoning game, it all goes bust because some guy just got lucky. Sorry, I like AE more. When I counterpoke someone it hits and not magically whiff like in Super. Yun and Yang are bad, but definitely not unbeatable.
All of the people who aren’t use to blocking and having to be good at defense will hate this game though. Now you can’t just SRK out or pressure, or back dash like a mad man everytime you made a bad decision. Now you can (rightfully) be blown up for all the stupid stuff you do.
The fuck are you talking about? All that stupid shit is still in the game for people to be random with cept now half the cast just plain sucks and gets beat by characters who are simply alright.
I think I love you.
I expected better Azrael
Why people have so much problem with defensive games?? Playing a defensive character is as hard as playing an offensive one. I am turtle by nature i cant rush down for my life.
This prejudice against defensive characters is really annoying.
Yea, but the honda comment was pretty funny.
Yun’s random factor is not that good. you still have to have strong fundamentals. You can’t just dive kick until you get tired for free. You can’t just plam without giving up valuable spacing, and you can’t just lunge punch without opening yourself for whiff punishment. Yun is good, but as long as it takes a good player to make him good I’m fine. He’s nothing like Wolverine in MVC3, where any scrub can pick him up in 15 minutes and get lucky. There seems like a lot less luck in AE
And trust me I’m a defensive player. Offense has to be smarter in this game. Super was about sloppy partial offense and then herp derp defensive system to avoid any reprecussion. AE took away all of the safety nets. Thank god.
Now when someone do something stupid they can be punished. And I only lose to a strong offense, not a sloppy one.
A game can be fun without balance, but it doesnt make much sense when out of 40 characters only 3 are played. Why not removing all other 37 they are unused pixels anyway.
Ah, that’s the secret to playing vs. Yun or Fei: DON’T BLOCK. Seriously.
AE won't have this problem. And many of the characters are viable. You just have to grind it out with them. The diferences in balance isn't as wide as 3s or MVC2. Yun and Yang options are not that much greater, and it's not like a good amount of the cast can't punish their stuff. Everyone has some answer to dive kicks.
Super was too well balanced.
In super we never had a “Yeb gen vs Floe sagat” moment. The closest thing to that was Gamerbee adon vs Wong rufus but that was just because it was fucking Justin Wong. Super was short on overpowered characters.
Overpowered characters make hype matches, once the underdog characters get more fleshed out and learn the matchups properly.
Balance is over rated IMO
-Dammit_rab
Yeah but those hype moments are rare as well. For each one ‘‘hype’’ moment you will get 1.000.000.000 Yun x Fei’s and the top 5 will always look like This]
Yun, Fei, Yun, Fei, Yang
How fun.
Well if the community has that much of a defeatist attitude about the game then yeah.
the twins arnt broke… noobs who complain about them just cant beat em thats all.
If the better players are winning with those characters who gives a flying fuck. honestly it seems like most of these complaints are coming from people who primarily are just stream viewers.
SF4 was a game where if you made a mistake or whiffed anything punishable, you got punished HARD for it.
