Why not for xbox?

A lot of argument about lost sales is really invalid in this new generation. I know this is SHO forums but I think we need to look at the entire market before we talk about lost sales. Lets put this into context for the Xbox one

Ryse - Flopped. The studio almost went bankrupt because they assumed MS would sell like hotcakes
Titanfall - Flopped and flopped hard. Some articles written suggest they had a hard time recouperating the money they spent on tv adverts
Sunset overdrive - flopped
Dead rising 3 (capcom) flopped - Capcom admitted that

There hasn’t been a single exclusive MS released which didn’t flopped where as on the other hand every single ttitle released on the PS4, even that crap drive club) has sold well because even if it doesn’t meet targets in North America. Sony also has this other region called “EU” locked. Sony is moving more hardware there than in NA and XB1’s presence overseas is almost non existent. FOr example PS4 is outselling xb in spain 7-1. In germany ps4 broke 1 milliion while XB is just breaching 200K

This generation is not the same as last generation. even one of their execs admitted they don’t know how the PS4 is selling as fast as it does.

Last point: There was an article in forbes based on a survey which should 40-50% of xb have moved to the PS4. I think Capcom didn’t need that much persuasion not when destiny sold a million white PS4s worldwide in a short week!

How does that exec not know why the PS4 sells so well?
In Europe we cherish something called freedom, so when a guy steps up on stage and tells you that they want to sell you a console that watches you, takes away the freedom of freely sharing games with your friends and family and also tries to sell the console with showing footage of Call of Duty: Dog Edition and also wants to build the lowest form of entertainment into your colorful video game environment, people aren’t too hyped about the Xbox One over here which leaves the WiiU and the technological superior PS4.

Guess what our pick is.

Should’ve called it the Xbox-1984

I can actually see the exclusivity being a good thing in the long run. Splitting the player base between the 360 and PS3 could get really frustrating. Getting a duel modded stick went a long way, but you still had to deal with subtle differences between the 2 consoles.

Having everything based around 1 system from the get go will help tournaments a bit. No more of people showing expecting one version and having to bum sticks/pads off others.

Add in the fact that a HUGE number of 360 peeps have jumped ship and gone with the PS4 this generation, the non-existent XB1 Japan sales, and Sony willing to pay for development costs and it’s easy to see why Capcom is ok with things.

It really sucks for MS.

Now lets hope we hear about an arcade announcement soon.

P.S. If this had been an XB1 exclusive (with the XB1 selling better), I would say the same thing. So please no “sony fanboy” nonsense.

Again Japan (in the bigger scheme of things) does not matter. Not when it comes to hardware moved in the EU. Did anyone notice that for most of the year Microsoft refused every request to talk actual XB1 sales and eventually moved to talking about how much units they “”“SHIPPED”"" which basically means nothing for a publisher or development studio. While in comparison PS4 “”“SOLD”"" numbers were announced with some frequency.

Last official XB number was that they would “SHIP” 10 Million units by the end of 2014 which means they sold under 10 million. It takes basic math to work out what they sold in the US because of NPD results. So my guess is that they have about 2 million of that 10 million just sitting in stock somewhere.

Last week you could pick up a legit XB1 for $199 in store (madden bundle)

To simply win a month MS had to give away 3-4 free games but an extra $50-$70 of bundled credit, free downloads and a bunch of extras just to get a month where they outsold the PS4 in one region.

£1 = $2.00 on the right day maybe more depending.

Going with Sony means capcom get all that high value EU money. Any publisher or dev going with sony opens up a market where the competition simply has no presence. 360 had a market in the EU the XB1 does not.

I should add this. I don’t own a next gen console but if I had bought an Xb1 at launch for $500 and then less than a year the retail price reached $199 I would be upset.

This is bullshit.

It sold a million within it’s first month. Nothing in there suggest they were disappointed with how much it sold like it did with SfxT and Lost Planet 3.

I think he’s talking about copies sold for the XboxOne not about the game itself flopping.

Harsh truth about XB1

What he quoted was a pr release. And yes, with PC and XB1 sales combined DR3 sold over a million. But what’s more revealing than that is capcom saying they wont release a sequel unless a game reaches 2 million in sales which gives you a better indication of what Capcom was expecting or the money it cost to develop. Bottom line before XB1 came out with the reveal message of “tv, tv tv, sport, tv, NFL, snap in desperate housewives, tv, call of duty”

Capcom was expecting huge or at the very least better sales than the DR3 got

In comparison over at the PS4

Killzone -2 million soon after launch

the last of US REMASTERED over a million . 5 in a month and still counting

Infamous second son - 1 million in 9 days 2 million soon after

Knack - 1 million (yeah knack sold 1 million lol)

Drive club - A few hundred K? WW? It hasn’t released on PSN yet but when it does who would bet against it? For a year and a month every single multiplat game has sold way more on the PS4. Publishers have got to be looking at the PS4 instal base licking their lips. There was a rumour on gaf that activision wanted out of their exclusive dlc agreement with Microsoft. And I think it must have some truth to it considering both ghosts and advanced warfare sold more on PS4 than it did xb1.

In this thread people are basing their opinions on last gen where Microsoft was a strong competitor. That is no longer the situation. They even struggle to get games looking good or comparable to their competitor because their machine is a media center first. Dvr 2nd and console 3rd.

With SFV being exclusive we’ll get a truly next gen game without the restrictions of the inferior platforms hardware holding it back. No fanboy shit just the basic truth. I own a 360 but the situation is what it is.

@ArtVandelay‌

Those are the sales for the Xbone version. That Financial quarter was when DR3 was still Xbone exclusive. It was success long before being ported to PC.

@jaystill27‌

What I quoted is Capcom’s finanical earning to their investors. The press release is merely a cliff notes version. Your still wrong. Those sales are solely for the Xbone version as that was the only version of the version available when that quarter ended.

I already did… sold already my xbone and bought the ps4 with a good bundle yeah i hate it to say that sony’s trap actually worked on me but as an street fighter player since SF2 back in 90s it was the only way…

While I can understand selling your Xbox One if you thought that the PS4 was the better system for you as an individual, selling it for a game that you have no idea if it will be good or not seems rather dumb. Again, I sincerely hope you enjoy your new console. But it seems to me the only ‘trap’ you’ve fallen into is Capcom’s, given that they haven’t released a good fighting game since, oh, 2001.

The only thing that kept me playing on xbox was the controller i’m playing battlefield and street fighter only now i got a converter to use the xbox controller on ps4 so nothing changed to me ive enjoyed all street fighter games so far and i just wanted to keep playing them

Because PS4 breached 18.5 million while XB has shipped to retailer 10 million. Perhaps because in certain parts of Europe XB1 is moving so slowly some stores allocate no space for it and in japan major retailers have discontinued it altogether.
