Why no Street Fighter 3 Hyper Edition?

I love 3s, but I’d rather see a Super 3s with HD graphics. New characters, balance the shit out of it, and bam, excellent shit.

Its not a “problem” per se’, I just doubt the characters would be exactly the same. Well, I personally would prefer a bit more than the norm (like VC) but I guess if this is just meant for fun, and not competitive (was AE meant to be balanced or just for dream matches? Would appreciate if someone who played it more answered this. VC seems pretty balanced). I mean, I look at it this way. There’s no doubt there’ll be useless characters for some formats (like VC Jedah in Vampire style) but I don’t think the game should have a large amount of characters from one game dominate, either. I mean, say you’re right and 2I characters dominate. That’d get pretty boring to me; I might as well keep playing 2I for the most part.

As for Gouki, the biggest thing was stun and health. In the Arcade, Gouki had normal health and stun. Now in DC, he’s lowest again. Shin Gouki keeps that level of stamina. The divekick is still damn good but its is no longer immune to parry and the like. I think its easier for people to do stuff like SPD him on block now. Maybe a few combo options; I need to go into practice and check (not sure if the lk tatsu ~ SAIII works). But he’s definitely less scarier than Arcade. Also, I don’t remember if this was an arcade change or not (haven’t played arcade/emu 2I in a long time because I prefer DC for various reasons) but I know another thing about 2I Gouki is that his cr.lk (and I believe his lp) don’t combo/chain like they do in 3S. You have to link them.

Ibuki, defense was lowered as well. Hashin Sho seems to do less but you can still combo it off just about any cancelable normal (such as lp) or her chains, and tack on a 5HK besides the usual 623+K if you end in the corner. I think I mentioned NG stuff earlier as well (infinite).

But yeah, I have played against people and have matches too (not the best, I admit), like ShadowAce50 above.

BTW, what’s your opinion on 2I dudley compared to 3S version?

Give Raishin Mahaken 2 bars again.

This might be a dipswitch or other internal setting, I am 100% sure Gouki’s stun bar is smaller than Ken’s. I don’t have an emulator, but I just made a comparison on an arcade youtube vid and Gouki’s stun bar is smaller, but not as much as it is in the other game.

I hardly use Dudley in either game, sorry. I can tell you in Second Impact none of his supers can be blocked on reaction; in Third Strike all of them can. I’m sure because of this alone he’s a more robust character.

It’s HOW you do it. They should have equalized the damage for all versions, and instead of sf2 characters dizzying you in a couple hits, they should have BEEN dizzied in a couple hits. The rules of the game they come from should have applied to them, not their opponents. They were running that shit with the ability to land just 2 fierce or strong hits, or start the dreaded renzoku light-attack of dizzy, then doom.

Yes yes yes thank you so much. Bitches oughta stop over-thinking this.

That makes no sense. Then their opponents would be doing WW damage and stun when they aren’t WW. So by that logic a WW should be doing ST damage and stun to a ST guy. It doesn’t have to have balance, it’s just supposed to be a silly mashup.

Not damage, just have everyone doing turbo damage, but dizzy properties are inherent to the game a character is from. That shit was ridiculous: the most basic version of the characters doing rape-type damage AND dizzy, but your older, and more powerful character has to bust 3 times the ass to dizzy them or even do equal damage? Fuck that. That shit’s like the basic forms of Pokemon being the most powerful. Every version of said character should do the same damage (whichever game’s version does the least per hit), and if the game they’re from has you dizzy in whatever many fierce, strong, or jab hits, then that’s what it takes to dizzy them…not what it takes for them to dizzy YOU (unless your character is from the revision the opponent is from). And for god’s sake, randomize that shit in 1p mode: don’t make the player always fight turbo characters.

Yeah but it makes a lot of other characters irrelevant and unplayable. To me, that’s not fun.

No-one is saying 5:5 ratios or anything, but most character versions should have things and tweaks to make them relevant. Like why play WW Bison when I can rock CE scissor strings and redizzies? Fuck ST Guile, I’ve got CE and WW versions. O.Sagat is where its at, why bother with any of the others?

It completely defeats the purpose of a dreammatch if the only a few can actually do shit. And yes, I mean even for casuals. Unless you mean by “just for fun” everyone would buttonmash or play against people that don’t actually know their characters.

But then you aren’t playing with WW Bison. You’re playing WW Bison super sirlin remix. There are going to be dudes who will never see the light of day, but so what? It can still be fun without tweaks and balance, you’re really putting too much thought into this.

And if you’re thinking that this is would ever be played seriously, you’re kidding yourself. There isn’t anything wrong with playing a broke ass piece of shit and having fun with it. Not everything has to be high level balance.

Well I think it would be even better with some balances here and there to give more strength to the diversity we want in the first place. When you have irrelevant characters, there’s going to be more reason to tier-whore and no-one really wants that.

I really don’t think I’m putting much thoughts into this at all. VC did it right and at the same time gave us a beevy of things to play with. I don’t think its too much to ask for this…

Well…you’re right there.

But its not as if being balanced automatically makes the game unfun either. And its not like being broken automatically makes it fun, too.

Not really sure what to tell you, I guess some folks are for it and others aren’t. Also why do people always talk like having high ass tiers are a bad thing. Some dudes are good, others are shit. Oh well.

Also MvC2 is like the most broken thing out there and that is fun as all hell.

This is the approach I take. Guess the two schools of thought here are Adjustment vs Original.

because it is an ‘epic tournament’ and in a ‘balanced game’ you need to be able to pick the ‘character’ that you ‘really like’ and ‘still have a chance at winning’

Incoming Why the hate for SF III HD Remix Threads, if they do that to SF 3rd Strike. They should only port it over no balancing like HDR.

I would adore just a straight port of it, though I highly doubt it would happen.

well if they ported the original 3s it would get a lot of new blood in the scene but i think most of us are going to play it on ggpo. there’s no incentive to play it on xbox live or psn when ggpo will probably still be better (not that it’s all that great on ggpo to begin with).

I think just making sf5 is a better idea. Ono wants players of sf4 to become players of sf3 . Sf3 would greatly benefit with a xbla release but making a hyper edition just doesn’t fit with that game They should just make sf5 as the sequel to sf3 putting in the gameplay mechanics, and character moves.

I don’t see why it would be better on GGPO. As good as GGPO is, it doesn’t really run 3s very well at all.

Oooooooor maybe this would give Capcom incentive to use that GGPO license they happen to have ;D
