Good points. I have to ask though, wouldn’t KOF 2k6 be the most accessable to newcomers? It’s flashy, has easy combos, and isn’t too hard to pick up.
Yeah see Tataki this is what I am doing I am pushing KOFXI the hardest and making the others slowly but surely appeal and yes we surely got plans for KOFXII believe me…and its funny because NGBC slowly but surely is building…

Well here’s the thing…
I would be on the boat of not supporting SNK, however they seem to be the only ones still popping a new 2d Fighting game every year.
Third Strike, I like it, I like the speed it has. It’s very much like a chess game, you have to have a lot of pacience to do some damage.
KoF 2k2 is kinda like 3rd Strike, but has more speed in it, and a couple of complex moves, and from what i’ve seen, it does get really complex in advanced levels. Not very user friendly.
Marvel vs Capcom 2, simply, single handedly the most spectacular 2d Fighting game to watch at competitive level, hands down. You just can’t be not impressed when you see someone like Yipes tear somebody apart.
CVS2, it could be as spectacular as Marvel, but it gets very repetitive (in my taste), don’t get me wrong it’s an awesome game, but when you play you realize that it isn’t very complex, you just need practice. But still, some combos are really fun to watch, and of all the characters i’ve seen, one of the ones that impressed me the most was Hibiki from last blade 2 on one of theh capcom grooves.
Tekken 5, not a big fan of 3d fighting games, period, that’s all i have to say. Ask shibuya about that…
VF4 and SC3, look at Tekken 5
Now for what i call new games…
Guilty Gear-Very interesting game, very nice combo system, however what turns me off is the speed. From what i’ve seen about the game, some speed would help the game a lot. And from previews i’ve seen of Accent Core, it’s going in a better direction
KoF XI, another year, another KoF. I’ve been playing KoF’s since 94, trust me guys i know what im talking about when it comes to SNK games. And this game is user friendly, something, that I DONT LIKE. At times it feels more like a rhythm game like Beatmania or whatever due to the ease of Combos, and trust me guys, if you had som experience on Marvel or CVS 2 it’s not that big of a gap here. Some complex moves have been simplified, so that’s a plus.
It’s a KoF i don’t like, but still, we should give it a chance…
Rumble fish 2, i played this at CTF on NYC, and was dissapointed about it. It has that Matrimelee or Rage of the Dragons feel to it. Where it can do some chain combos, but due to it’s simplicity it bores you. I found no real extensions to nonpreprogrammed combos, and those that were, were way too easy. And teh short roster doesn’t really help either.
Games i want to check out:
VF5, Melty Blood, Fist of the North Star, Spectral vs Generation, I think that’s about it…
And I will support DG anyway i can…
Not only for SNK games, but just new fighting games in general.
Let’s face it we won’t see sequels to most of Capcom’s games, and i see it more productive to support the genra, to make publishers at least giving it a shot to bring games to America. Whoever they are.
It’s not the 90s people when we knew more than 10 fighting games woudl come out in 4 months. if we want the genra to stay alive we gotta support whatever we can.
However if there’s only competition in Third Strike, so be it, ill support it as well, just as other competitive games as well.

Today I see some n00bs on KOFXI. i was bored so I figured I’d random select a team and play them. I get Duck/Vanessa/K’. The poor bastards are AMAZED by the simplest SuperCancels/Combos I beat both of them with ease and they both leave the arcade in FEAR. Now I’m not a mean guy by any means in person but they just left before I could say anything. Have fun with your little cause.

It’s funny that I hear 10x more SNK fans online bashing Capcom stuff than the other way around. Insecurity, maybe?
