lol no. MvC3 music has plenty of melody, and the Third Strike songs are much more rhythm dependent than melody.
Seems like a lack of effort on making good music for their fighting games. They’re just remixes of old themes if the character isn’t brand new, sounds like cutting corners. Themes were best when characters had their own stage and song to go with them. I don’t want to think that the producer back when were just better at it, but seems like the new producers lack something.

2I and NG Themes were better for a lot of characters though, like Ibuki, Elena, and Hugo

I can’t stand any of the SF4 songs except for like 1 or 2 tracks in it (outside of rival themes). There’s a reason why, when you see replys or match videos from arcades, all you can hear are the rival themes.
MvC3, the only tracks I heard was the Captain American’s theme, I will say that mix is good. I thought in the past the song was “ok”, but in marvel 3 I think it sounds really good. I haven’t heard any of the other tracks, but I suppose I should prepared to be disappointed after reading the first post.
Arcana Heart 3 music isn’t all that bad, it fits the “fighting game feel”, but it’s not something I would play in my car on full blast.

megaman x1 was good too, the intro stage and the spark mandrill stage were one of my favorites of all time

Yuki Iwai did the original theme for Dudley, and wasn’t around for 3s. So, Hideki Okugawa could of had a different idea for Dudley’s theme since Yuki Iwai was on the Naomi 3d fighters when the other street fighter 3 games were in production. Hideki had free range on 3s musically as long as Ono liked it.
Edit: Those who say 3s soundtrack is good hasn’t heard the NG or 2I soundtrack.

I think [media=youtube]YXAbXsWt3hE"]Mortal Kombat II had the most well realised OST out of any fighting game. Every piece of music was seemingly well thought out, fit the theme of the game and matched the backgrounds. Incidentally Dan Forden (the guy that composed the MKII OST) is making the majority off the music for [URL=“http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G82f_Y453QM”[/media] and that game’s soundtrack is incredible.
