MvC2 was never received that way. It made more money here than any fighting game released at the time. Do you know anything about Marvel, or its properties AT ALL?
You fail to mention that SNK backed out on production of CvS1, and never had a hand in CvS2. Why would you get so hysterical over their receiving just 20% of the profits?
CvS2’s tiers are not finite. That’s a terrible misconception. Just because some hotshot tourney players label a few characters as top-tier, doesn’t mean you can’t win with other characters. There are a handful from SNK that fit in the top 13, you know.
The problem here is that most fighting game players (be they fans of Capcom OR SNK, doesn’t matter) don’t think for themselves anymore. They believe they can be good just by cockriding alone.
I wish I was in the same league as JWong so people could come to me for advice, and I’d tell them I got good by jumping off a cliff.
I really hate the arguement that Capcom tried to sabotage SNK characters in CvS2. Yeah that why Yama, Iori, Kyo, Athena and Hibiki are usually considered in the top 13, hell you could throw in Joe in there for some people.
The game is pretty nice for casual play; that’s why I seem to enjoy it. Despite it flaws, it’s still a fun game. I guess it’s a bad game for high level play because of the abuse and broken gameplay.
And I think some people are exaggerating over the graphics. I will admit that the old sprites look out dated, but some of the new sprites were decent. Are you telling me that characters like Hugo, Dhalsim and Chun-li animate like crap? Well I don’t see it. And this is coming from somebody that likes Capcom better than SNK.
SVC Chaos just doesn’t have the same impact as CvS. It doesn’t have many memorable combos and the sprites are too KOF looking. It’s just like KOF just with some capcom add-ons. Don’t know the story line but im sure it’s not a good one. the graphics and moves just look out dated and the capcom characters don’t look like they fit into the game.
I’ve seen crazy things happen in this game. DP’s connecting whenever there’s a good half inch or so of screen between two characters is just not right.
One thing that I can say is good about SVC chaos is that it gave Vega a never before seen special move and made demetri look better thatn he does on Capcom Fighting Evolution. Capcom didn’t upgrade his graphics at all. It also took a chance on characters no one would think would be in the game like Zero, Red Arremer, & that Martian
First of all I don’t wanna hear shit about Secret Chracters, we broke that game ourselves - those assholes shoulda been banned in tourny play flat out.
Folks never wanted to give this game a chance - flat out.
Bullshit. Everyone gave this game a chance (-EVERYONE-), and it let people down. Not even the KOF fanfags liked it.
You really mean to say SNK didn’t expect people to flock to those characters as soon as they learned the codes? There’s no logic to this at all. When you make a game, it’s your fault if it’s broken to hell, especially if a six-year-old can see that. Not the players’.
I don’t want to hear that ST Akuma crap either. At least that game was out before the Internet became such a huge thing. Few even knew how to pick him.
Secret characters should’ve been banned for tournament purposes but look at Mvc1
GWM and RV are both top tier and they are both secret characters.
they were both used in tournies if i’m not mistaken.
the game is broken anyways (Guile, Chun, and Tessa)
it’s the player’s job to find the best comboes and get the best tactics.
it’s the creator’s job to try to balance the game as much as possible so when the smoke clears it’s still a playable game and it’s still balanced in a sense.
Infinite comboes in a game like svc chaos is just plain stupid
there’s no excuse for that
marvel has infinites but look how much freedom they took with the system and they were smart enough to put in dizzy out mechanism
it’s also obvious they prolly didn’t test the hidden characters even in their short tests prolly because they didn’t want to reveal the codes… how else can you explain how O Iori is basically everything that Iori has + more broken shit and zero’s infinite.
Now THAT sounds like 100% pure grade Capcom Fanboy crap! A whole lot of people like SNK games so much that it led to a certain popular Capcom-made crossover.
I FLOCKED to get this game, as did my friends. I played it in the arcade a few times and didn’t notice anything, in fact, I didn’t notice anything the first several times I played it.
When I started playing this game for more than a few rounds…yeah, it started showing.
It wasn’t so much the brokenness of the game that pissed me off as much as the fucked up hitboxes. >< oh man GRRRR still aggrevates me to this very day (of course it was a week ago that I just snaped about the whole ordeal)of one match that just was thrown because i kept getting hit with crap when I wasn’t near it. -- sad because I was really looking forward to this because I like KoF AND Capcom…
Though to be fair, a lot of people (including myself) hated CvS1 even when it first came out. It was somewhat okay on the DC where you could turn on free ratio edit and running, but the arcade was pure blah. People played it up to the B4 only because it was going to be at B4, and then dropped it immediately afterwards.
CvS1 was rubbish all around. But SvC makes CvS1 look decent by comparison. >:|
