in CE Dhalsim could K.O. himself by teleporting into his own fireball.
Dhalsim could also have 3 fireballs on screen at the same time.
lp fireball, short range teleport loop with the opponent jumping back.
if I remember correctly.
Balrog’s 1 hit K.O. from holding down 3xp or 3xk for more than 40 seconds and negative edging a special.
Chun could do spinning bird kick immediately after wall jump.
Vega could get off his chain link fence from his stage without commiting an attack. I think it was just wiggling the stick like to get out of dizzy was how to get him to jump off without committing an attack.
Ryu had 1 or 2 frames invincibility on his tatsu and his tasu went horizontal after a jump like Gouken’s of SF4
Ken had his egg beater tatsu. could also be done in air against falling opponents.
Guile could get hit by his own SB by doing lp sonic then immediately doing knee lunge over an over till he catches up with it.
I think he can actually bypass it if the opponent keeps jumping back to give him the necessary amount of distance to bypass it.
Chun could head stop continuously, hop off opponent>wall jump back onto opponent, back to head stomping. I know it works on Sagat.
I’m curious about one thing: Why are Blanka and Zangief considered high-mid tiers in HF, while they are regarded as bottom tiers in ST ? What made them so good in HF ? (my question is not directly related to CE, but since we are discussing SF2 versions…)
Blanka: Vertical ball hits on the way down (like Honda sumo splash) which he could use to trap
Zangief: KKK lariat is invincible to lows for entire duration
The only people who were doing the moves incorrectly were the ones who didn’t grow up paying the games. Back then we all had our own ways of describing how to perform the moves. The most popular that I remember is how to do a dp, “press forward and do a haduken”, that’s how EVERYONE described it.
Zangief’s Lariat was insanely quick, had fast recovery, solid range on his throws, and no whiff animation. He also had slightly better air attack priority.
Blanka had a upball that hit on the way up and down, which could be used for tick throws, combos, anything. His horizontal ball was a bit faster and was safe on block or hit for most matches. His pokes on the ground weren’t given that weird extended hurt box, which allows anybody in ST to counter with a high priority mid poke, like shoto cr.strong. His jump attacks were disgusting. Great range, most of his leg consisted of hit box with little to no hurt box. He could literally jump in front of Ryu at mid range whiffing j.roundhouse, and there wasn’t a goddamn thing you could do about it, unless you trained yourself to walk up with perfect timing and do a spin kick through it.
Sorry. Its been over 20 years since I’ve played either CE or HF. so my memory fails me if it was CE or HF. They were released so close to each other timeline-wise.
It was HF I was thinking of this whole time.
so,
I</3CE
instead,
I<3HF
but CE was a great game. Just not as awesome as HF.
I only got into SSF2 for a little bit, then quit SF altogether soon after Super’s release.
I agree…in sf2ce…it was at that very same svgl we would get down back in the days…sagat was my fave . As bison…back then everyone was worth learning…and mastering…still trying to keep that guile redizzy combo …whoa boy…also footsies were born…i love me some ce.
Name the specifics…there was at least 5 in addition to what is called rainbow edition…
U see me once in a while w my gouken at svgl…
In that area there was alot of bootleg releases…
Blankas bite…turned to ryu slow lp srk animation
Gief hopped infinite floors w lariat and could spd as long as within horizontal range…
its interesting ken’s egg beater was taken out of the fixed jap version of CE but it was kept in HF.
at least snes HF which was called turbo.
good times in college with turbo and college mates.
Umm…
I grew up with the games… Champion Edition on Genesis gave the wrong input for Sagat’s Tiger Knee (Or maybe it was Turbo on the SNES… whichever one, I had both, but one said it was :qcf:,:uf:+:k:, which is incorrect, as it starts at :db:. As for the other moves, a lot of people that grew up with Street Fighter didn’t have access to Super Turbo and all the new moves for a while. I didn’t play Super Turbo until after Alpha 2, simply because the first time I had access to the game was when SF Collection dropped. I had a bootleg copy from Chinatown and no manual with movelists.
So it’s indifferent if you grew up with it or not, but rather whether or not you had access to ST that determined if you knew the correct inputs. Also, I don’t know if there were any other wrong notations in the SF2 manuals, but I’m wondering about it now…
There are no specifics. It’s exactly as I said - CE that played at HF speeds.
I’ve played most of the other bootlegs. Red Wave, Rainbow, Accelerator, M series, even that World Warrior bootleg that was hacked to add the 4 bosses (Vega had a “fake” stand block animation cos it didn’t exist in WW).
In all probability it was probably a legit, damaged CE board. Or maybed it used a different or damaged quartz crystal. I dunno if incorrect DIP settings could cause this.
