There’s even a bigger reason that allows the inclusion of this version but the EVO! Topplayers as there are several scattered throughout the world. It is misleading to think in Brazil we do not play the most current versions, and that there is a good level in the latest versions, which happens sf2ce is famous and traditional, and most who play the newest sf, never leave aside the sf2ce!
So much so that here we have a website Ranking-Br SF2CE a ranking exclusive to this version!

It is not there better versions! it is a tradition!
if it is to talk about the best and most balanced versions, it is certain that there are several versions (HF, SSF2, SSF2T, SFA, SFA2, SFA3 …) but I believe that there is no public-Players Top players showing a good level as in SF2CE!

Nice thread here…we play ce because we like.
I’m sure that we have been played the newest JP video games soon and maybe played more than you guys because JP is very close from Korea (not just of we cannot find new games) - but it depends on importers, anyway,
glad to here that the ce tourn should hold in Chille on Nov. 23-24, and I really hope that EVO holds sf2ce tourn someday. Sure, we have been hold ce tourns regularly.

Does anyone know if the ROM for this hack has been dumped, or what it’s called?
We had this version at my local convenience store when I was growing up, and I haven’t played it since. That dragon punch throw that Blanka has does such crazy damage, and anyone with an air throw could grab you right off the ground.

Which arcades do you guys play CE at? I have a buddy living in Korea who cannot find a single SF2 cab anywhere, including CE. All he finds are Tekken cabs.

If anything Rainbow Edition is the most important fighting game of all time since it led to Capcom making more editions of SF.

The only thing Rainbow Edition led to was the creation of CPS-2 in direct response to how prevalent and easy it was to hack the CPS-1 systems. HF was influenced by Rainbow Edition, but wasn’t a direct cause of Rainbow Edition.

aff another brazilian shitposting on SRK (yea, I’m brazilian too, but I feel ashamed with so much shitposting from “pseudo-tops” who only play versions that NOBODY CARES OUTSIDE BRAZIL AND CHILE)

Those stupid BRs don’t know that going to USA for EVO requires passport and visa (and it’s tough to have it here). CE is not popular in rest of the world and EVO has abandoned arcade versions for main event since 2004 (there are some exceptions for super special events, like CPS2 ST Tournament of Legends).

I doubt there is an “intact” CPS1 board still running for a legit FGC-style event for CE, as there are so many bootlegs of CE (faster, slower, crazy, etc.) around the world.

And NO: CE IS NOT BALANCED. It’s another old BR excuse to not play real versions.

FUN FACTS: KOF02 AND CE are “SO POPULAR” that they aren’t in main event of OWN BRAZILIAN MAJORS HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
ANOTHER FUN FACT: CE players use emulators, banned from serious events (and they use bad PCs for it, having crazy frameskipping and some input lags) as there are no “intact” console versions of it.

Already pointed out that CE is popular because it’s cheap, widely available, whereas HF was more of an American design and only caught traction here in the States.

It’s a terrible game, but hey, when it’s all you have, I suppose you have no other choice than to make it competitive.

HF was my favorite and definitely the game I played the most. After playing ST much later on GGPO that became my favorite, however the general consensus is either HF or ST as the best in the SF2 series.

if it was up to me everyone would be playing Mugen at evo with 2000 character roster. Stopped watching evo ever since CvS2 died. The only reason I liked to goto tournaments was to play Super turbo, CvS2, and Kof. Now I just dont even care anymore. Think most people rather play super turbo then CE
