i’m showing that it even beats out regular karas, and there’s a lot of inescapable setups.

Either demon point blank is gonna grab, all the kara one does is add more range to it so you can land it out of some things you couldn’t otherwise without the kara.

Dash demon is still a classic and people still drop like flies to it.

I think also what everyone is failing to mention is the F+MP is going you cannot see the low punches etc. from someone doing a Raging Demon, Because Akuma is already in an action.

If so, that’s a particularly bad idea as it has very long startup and even more recovery.
So except for near cheap death for the opponent, this means you will lose half of your bar cause of the recovery…

Demon is an instant throw, so if done at point blank and opponent didn’t jump BEFORE you launch demon, he’s definitively caught.
KKZ has 16 frames on startup…

  • Harmonaz stated truth. There is a low chance of escape from a K D if the range is good and in the opponent’s face. The setup has to be believable enough to trick the opponent. It’s all range and character dependant. Chun could possibly do something about it with her standing strong. But I could be wrong because of her recovery.

  • Actually, Chun standing Fierce could, but it would be too slow. Standing Jab or short may have a slight chance at interrupting Demon. Elena could have a better chance at it because of her range and speed. Kara demon is a fast move and cannot be parried or stopped by a blocked victim. After the motion is in, if the victim is blocking, he may remain that way during the teleport for the move, or seconds before it lands, rendering most specials useless. Normals, also, but to a bigger extent. It’s still dependent on the range and character. Doing a kara demon at forward-strong(two hitter low by Gouki) distance is perfect. Anything bigger than that distance will be either a waste, or a gamble on any SA since the move takes up all bars.

I’m not convinced that regular SGS is inescapable at point blank. Are we talking, literally impossible, or just impossible with limited human reflexes?

This is pure speculation, but it seems to me that the real advantage of the kara demon is that it is inescapable on the first frame, even from a step away. It appears that the wider, kara’d hit-box overlaps the opponent, like a meaty move would on wakeup. I’ve been hit by many a kara demon and it’s the odd sort of stun you get before the move connects (it looks as though you should be able to move, but you can’t) that makes me think this is the case.

Basically it is impossible unless one can teleport or super or something to beat the demon in a tenth of a second.

If the player isn’t inputing a jump command prior to demon activation it will grab him, even if he reacts with a jump command.
