Guile doesn’t need new moves
Guile needs a move where he raises his fist in the air and yells BISSSSSSOOOOOON!!! and fire surrounds him.
i dont care if you think guile is good or sucks in sf4, he needs to be better regardless. it’s like the sf4 guile nuthuggers want him to remain sucky lol.
LOL real talk bro.
Just…give it time, man. In a time where a Dhalsim won nationals and Vipers and Vegas are still pulling out new shit, how can so many people have given up hope for brush-head?
There was less then a year gap betwen CE and HF and we clearly could see who was strong in CE to who wasn’t by the time HF strolled around, and only the gap between HF to Super was longer, however it took less then a year to figure out who’s solid and to who had it harder in that game as well. SF:IV at this point, doesn’t need alot more time to figure out, and if anything, the character movement from who’s strong to who isn’t will not be changing a whole lot. Maybe a 1 or 3 characters (3 if even, however obviously the new characters will change a shift) may change or move up or down, however beyond that, nothing huge.
Guile isn’t particularly strong in this game, he’s solid, but not strong, would be awesome to see his SB be a little bit more beefy, and “maybe” possibly give more angle to his Flashkick.
I agree with Gilley’s statements, Guile is super solid in his character design, and one of the absolute greatest of all time in fighting game history period. They always seemingly had to nerf him, because he was too good. Guile earning another special may potentially make him too strong, because his options after a Sonic Boom is one of the most dangerous strategies in the entire game of Street Fighter.
Still love Guile in SF:IV though…lol, they should of given him Sonic Hurricane as his Ultra, that move would have been super beast, and imo more effective then the Ultra presently in the game.
To fix this problem they should give him an Ex backhand that on hit does the old batman blaam! In exploding word bubbles. While we are at it he should have an Ex roundhouse where he sweeps 4 times. In all seriousness though they finally gave him an overhead which great.
Charlie’s MvC2 Ariel Dive kick would’ve done wonders to help Guile IMO.
I always feel Guile is lacking an “expansion” type attack. Remy got the dive kick, charlie had the long dash.
Something like a CrackShoot (Terry) would also suffice. The idea is to give him an extra option.
In all honesty, a few of the ST cast feel really dated and lack options. Honda / Guile especially.
Guns
Stryker from UMK3 had a gun, that didn’t stop him from sucking hard.
Oh man, you’re a fan of the American animated series too?! “There’s only one way out of here…”

you want to talk shit back to the only guile in the US to win a tourney. SMH -_- maybe you should pick up sagat if you want to win a tourney because he doesn’t need to. fuck outta here
You first dude, he is the one talked shit first for no reason randomly, I was just defending myself read his post first and that aint going to change my opinion at the moment so you can get as mad as you want you scrub troll lol. When I first starting about posting saying Guile was good I got flamed and when I started say guile is weak I get flamed again, cmon guys get a life.
Seriously, some of you guys waste way too much energy talking shit or flaming each other on forums all day. Just play the damn game shut up.
real talk bro
Why did you start capping on me about liking CE Guile in the first place randomly, when I haven’t posted anything in a long time. Of course I am going to stick for my self, but let me remind you that I was also flamed just cause I posted that he was good by a couple of other people like Forgenjuro, he is a nasty flame as well:
His negeative attitude towards how bad Guile was rubbed off on me, bro and this guy flamed me coz I said that in the hands of the right player he could be top tier. So why did you start talking crap about me, when before this conversation I never talked crap about you?
But, you know what I am going to humbly say good job proving me and that the ******* jerk forenjuro wrong by winning that tournament…I give you mad props bro.
Guile, moreso than any other character is very dependent on the game’s engine. Meaning he changes a lot based on the overall engine changes to the game he is in. Guile is a very odd character indeed.
Guile and his clones seem to be hit or miss depending on what game he appears in. One of the odder things is Guile in SNK’s SVC, where he was very buff and was able to rapid fire Sonic booms due to the game’s odd charging system.
I think a command throw would make Guile too good though. Imagine sonic boom pressure, with the threat of an anti air, and then a comand throw which is untechable. The guy would have brainless 50/50 mixups all day. That means at long range and close up he’s a threat.
I’ve pondered the question as well, but it’s best to leave it well enough alone. he issues Guile appears to be having could be remdied by giving him more chip on Sonic booms and better priority on his flash kick. Or just overally better damage all the way around.
the ability to combo into his super or ultra wouldn't do anything more for Guile honestly. It appears that we may have to deal with the fact that finding setups for his ultra/super may not be in the works. However, if Guile received more damage output, who would need the ability to setup his super/ultra. Appears that his meter could be better be used for ex flashkicks and ex sonic booms.
I really like Guile, but what bothers me about him is that while many other characters in different people’s hands can have varying styles Guile is far closer to being one dimensional. I really do think Makoto’s SF3 areal kick would be perfect for him.
If nothing else they could let you throw a Sonic Boom ending with df, and give his flashkick better air priority. I haven’t played the game, so doing something like this could make him too good, but after watching Sagat and Ryu combo anything and everything into their Ultra or some 20%+ damage combo, I wouldn’t feel bad about those two tweaks.
Call me crazy, but…
…I’ve actually given thought to an aerial sonic boom, but along the vein of Rolento’s knife throw: charge :d:, :u: + :p:, then :p:.
If that idea is too wacky/broken, maybe a shoulder tackle, akin to Boxer’s Buffalo Headbutt, but similar in animation to Alex’s crouching fierce: :d:, :u: + :p:.
As far as kick attacks go, I thought about the upside down Flash kick as well: but with the following command: :d:, :u: + :k:, then :k:. The height and horizontal distance would be determined by the strength of the kick. The jump would have a little invincibility at startup, useful for getting out of traps even if the actual flash kick part isn’t used.
My other kick attack revolves around a ‘sideways’ flash kick (think SNK King’s tornado kick): :l:, :r: + :k:.
:lk: would be a single-hit knockdown attack;
:mk: would be two hits, the inital kick followed by a medium jumping kick that knocks down;
:hk: would likewise be two hits, traveling farther but ending in a jumping roundhouse animation to knock down.
At the very least, a small variation of the Crossfire Blitz would be nice to see: :l: , :r: + :k:.
Don’t mind me too much; just thinking out loud…
eh? Have you played the game? Have you read the other threads? Guile can combo into super just like everyone else in the game who has a non-grab super. He can cancel from sonic boom or FK to super, in fact. Expect to see it in combos more often when console is available.
As for set ups, an early lk FK (one that connects at the top of the arc) allows Guile to land before the op and he can then juggle with either:
- EX SB
- EX FK (this I use regularly)
- super
- ultra
So just how many ways can Guile combo into his ultra?
early lk FK
Super
level 3 FA
That appears to be the list for now. I’m hoping for another one or two, but I’m not holding my breath.
Also, I think it’s time to move these kinds of discussions to the main Guile thread.
Guile’s Ultra appears to do less damage than a single Tiger Uppercut. I almost want to jump into it for fun, just to demoralize my opponent.
