Why is Guile the ONLY character to never recieve new moves?

Pretty much EVERY other character over the years has gained new Special Moves. Ken and Ryu still have mainly kept their main 3, but they have often been given other moves like Ryu’s Flaming fireball, Fake Fireball at one time, Side Kick (SF3) and Ken’s Roll or Flip-over Kick (CvsSNK).

Blanka has been giving an anti- air attack roll, an angled roll to go over fireballs, Chun-Li has been given all types of moves including upward anti-air kicks, flip over kicks, AND fireballs, Zangief has been given running throws and moves to go through fireballs, E. Honda has been given an anti-air attack, and even Dahlsim has been given teleports and an angled anti air yoga flame.

Guile still has the SAME TWO FREAKIN moves! What gives?

You’re wrong on a bunch of your facts, but Guile doesn’t get new moves because it’s all he needs: High frame advantage fireball, superb SRK/anti air move, and a bunch of pokes. With these two moves, Guile has been an excellent character in most of the games he’s in.

That being said, I hear Guile is pretty bad in SF4.

guile is terrible, but there are a few guys that can still whoop ass with him still. flash kick isnt as great as anti air anymore =( and his sonic booms, flashkicks, supers, and ultras do shit for damage. you gotta wor twice as hard

I thought they gave Guile an overhead in SF4? I don’t keep up at all so I could be wrong:bluu:

SFIV Guile is completely underrated. He represents excellent character design for the most part (there are some very puzzling aspects to his design though), but many are finding him to be much more difficult than he has been in earlier installments.

The real issues are in his ultra (lack of damage and virtually no setups for it) and the difficulty combo-ing his super.

He has indeed been given an overhead, and as far as it goes, it’s awesome.

People really need to get over crying about SFIV Guile.

What facts are wrong? I never gave my opinion or stated that he sucked or severely needed new moves, I just felt it odd that every other character has received multiple new moves over the years but in every SF game he has ever been in he has always only had those same two freakin moves.

Needs more gilley.

This is an SFIV board. Got a problem with The History Of Guile, take it elsewhere.

Hopefully in the revision they give Guile a new super that you can actually chain.

May I ask, what move could Guile possibly need?

Guile gets new normals and supers all the time to complement his two special moves. Those two special moves are all he needs, and they are a part of his character and charm.

Do you mean ultra? Becuase you can chain a normal attack into his super.

What are you talking about? I just stated that I thought it was “odd” that EVERY other character has recieved new special moves but Guile had not. Once AGAIN I didn’t say I neccessarily thought he needed any.

Example, I didn’t think Ryu or Ken needed new moves either but ken was given a “flip over kick” in one of the games and Ryu has been given a side kick before. I was just wondering. Man, I swear this has got to be the most up tight board I have ever been to.

I seriously don’t even think people are fully reading my post, as I never said anything negative about Guile in my original post, then I made a SECOND post restating that, and you STILL said “If I got a problem take it elsewhere”

When I asked him what he was talking about, I was refering to the fact that I he stated that my facts were wrong. So I was wondering, which facts. I thought, maybe I missed a SF game where Guile WAS given new moves. Something I might want to know about because I am a fan of SF and it would interesting to check out such a game had I missed it.

However, instead of actually telling me which facts I got wrong, I get bashed again by ANOTHER person. This is rediculous.

He should get a move where a small helicopter lands on his head like it was a landing pad, then he runs at his opponent and chops him up with the tiny helicopter blades.

Guile has gotten new moves, he has recieved new normals and command normals, such as the overhead, plus he has a long list of different super moves in several different games.

It is true he has not received a new special move becuase he does not need it. Remy may have had a dive kick and a high and low sonic boom, but Guile is just too bad-ass to be bother with those silly things.

:nunchuck:

Remy is too quick for Guile.

Hahah yeeeah, way to show him how we run things around here, Super-confrontational Man! I want to be your sensational sidekick Defensive Boy.

This is a pretty common question and reasonable from casual SF fans. Most of the people who ask about it are more interested in the storyline and stuff that looks neat than they are about stuff like competitive play and learning matchups. Sure, the question’s a little more anime GameFAQs lol than it is SRK, but it is curious to a lot of “lite” players and that makes it a legitimate inquiry.

Scrubby thread, asshole response.

Pro tip for all Dec08 members… SRK is like prison where you need to beat up someone on the first day or you’ll end up somebody’s bitch. Make sure you flame the living hell out of at least one Jan09 member before the end of the month. It’s the only way you’ll earn respect in here.

I think I’ve been reading too many nublet threads. Thanks for the laugh.

ce - gets bazooka knee / 2 hit flash kick
super - gets mid air sobat / flash kick goes back to 1 hit
st - step kick roundhouse / controllable sobat / new back + fierce / new close roundhouse
sf4 - overhead - more range on back + fierce / very fast EX SB’s / very good ex FK

Guile is one of the best character designs ever made IMO
he just has to work much harder in SF4
he works better as a turtler in this game than a rushdown character (his lockdown is still sick BTW)
ive been using Guile since the start
he still feels the same (albeit a bit stubby)
hes the only character in this game that can immediately follow up his projectile w/o focus cancelling and that itself is a big threat
people always complain about guile in SF4
but never take the time to find out ways to win with him still
if youre going to bitch
please join Battosai in the CE edition graveyard
thanks

shout outs to mike watson - tomo ohira - mike hernandez - thao duong…these cats were the inspiration to use guile in SF4

OP, what new moves do you suggest.
