Tag2 will be here…in winter. I hate saying the obvious and telling most people to wait*unless your Brennan and have a Tag2 machine in your local arcade(thats fine, southtown will have VF5FS). Anyways…Im having fun with SFxTK, I like it for what it is, nothing more nothing less but recently i’ve been investing alot of time to give team ninja some constructive feed back on their DOA5 alpha demo…i want DOA to be a competitive game…not rock paper scissors, and it needs work…aside from that the demo is a blast to play.
I just personally hate seeing threads that appreciate a game go and turn into a thread ripping on a game because people desperately need to voice their opinions on the game over and over again -_-’ redundant much.
People shit on everything that isn’t their favorite nostalgic thing. Hardcore Tekken enthusiasts do it against Street Fighter. King of Fighter fans do it against Street Fighter and Tekken, and everyone does it against Smash/Anime Fighters. At the end of the day, every game just isn’t for everybody.
Personally I enjoy Tekken best, followed by Soulcalibur then Street Fighter then (other), but its impossible for me to find good Tekken players so its easiest for me to just stick to Street Fighter. Despite being the only one of my friend circle with an actual career, I’m also somehow the only one with the time to actually invest in and practice a fighter.
>.> I like SFxT… Its my current favorite Capcom fighter.
I definitely hear you there. On the flip side, they have a right to voice that opinion, but there’s threads for that too.
I dunno’. Personally I’m just glad to have all these choices, and honestly of them all I’m enjoying SFxT the most. I’ll be playing this and TTT2 full-time by year’s end. Maybe even SCV too (playing it here and there, really like it… but I dunno’ if that’ll last once TTT2 releases. Hopefully it does).
I feel ya’. I feel like a moron honestly because I actually hated Tekken 6 at first, found every nuisance I could dislike and just… stopped playing. Coming from Tekken 5, I hated the rage system and the bound system.
In the end, I was just stubborn because I wanted Tekken 5DR+. -_-’
Now I regret it because I’m having to learn it so late. To be fair, I actually do have a Tekken community I should be interacting with more in AZ, but when Tekken 6 released a lot of the friends I used to play against and go to tourneys with had already left AZ. Just me and like two other guys were left and our schedules never matched up, so I stopped going…
Now I’m playing catch up, lol. Hoping to get the couple of us to meet up once a week in person and play whatever’s on the menu.
EDIT: aaaaand this is why I shouldn’t write long posts at work, lol. That was a messy one, sorry 'bout that. XD
I get pretty tired of people trashing games they don’t like… its fine not to like something, but why hate on it?
I was at a local event a week or two ago and this guy sat, watching people playing SFxT, ranting about how bad of a game it was… It was unnecessary and annoying to have a grown man crying because no one there was playing HIS game.
You’re pratically the same as me. Even though I started on SC, Tekken is my favorite FG ever.
And don’t give up - always try your hardest to build up a nice scene where you live - if people, like you, who are knowledgeable into this stuff gives up, the “lesser ones” may end without a “guidance” to other good titles avaliable.
Well, sorry if I’m dragging the thread out haha - but I’m not a hater of SFxT. No matter how fun the game is (and is, most of the time), we need to be a little more critical on the product - Capcom delivered it pretty rushed. The game would had been a lot better (even the FG of the year) if such minor things were addressed.
its ok, im sure it wasn’t intentional…I can agree with it being somewhat rushed(the fact they can’t get couch co-op to work correctly, and those bugs/glitches). Idk how the game will fair down the road, but I enjoy it…Alisa will be worth the wait.
I really like that they took the time to finish 12 extra characters not released yet before the release date of this game. Capcom is setting the new standard for video game development. Disk-Locked-Content is awesome. The gem customization is truly amazing. I can’t wait to buy some Disk-locked-Content gems so I can tech throws, and auto block for 1/4 bar. And I really like how similar this game is to SF4. Its like I’ve already played this game before!
GG Capcom. Thank you so much.
I can agree with that, for sure. It was definitely rushed, and has some issues. The blatant stuff is easy enough to fix I think, just a matter of how much they’ll actually do at this point. We’ll see soon enough.
@ rook - yeaaah I’m still mad about the couch co-op, lol.
Ironically, some of the locked characters (especially on the Tekken side) are way more polished and refined - especially gameplay-wise - than most of the original roster lol
I give Capcom props for making Alisa really interesting - I can dislike the game for numerous things, my at least they made my Tekken main visually appealing and solid to play as.
People thinking it’s similar to SFIV and playing it that way is why most people get thrashed at it then call it scrubby. But I agree that Capcom has astonishingly bad business practices.
I don’t really think Capcom’s being that bad, honestly, but that’s me.
Yeah, people playing SFxT like SSF4 are the people having the most problem. Its closer to Tekken than SSF4, but has just enough SF that the SF characters don’t feel completely new.
I think once people figure out more stuff, like CADCs, they’ll like it more. Its a much more technical game than people are giving it credit for, and a lot of that comes from the Tekken juggle system,
I may mess around with Alisa in SFxT as well. Hate to admit it but I have a… passing interest in the character. Thought about trying her in T6 too, but Leo comes first. <3
I agree, I think the biggest thing that bothers me is not if someone dislikes it, but they just make uneducated generalizations about a game.
I get tired of hearing from the scrubs “Oh man, this game is derpy and hoip a doip and etc.” It’s like… “Oh yeah, I play this game at a low level so clearly I know what the fuck I’m talking about and am really qualified to make this judgement.”
Funny enough, the top players in our scene (of SF and KOF) are the ones who really like this game. Most of the people that I hear doing the ‘on-the-side’ bitching about the ‘garbage game’ are scrubs who couldn’t even place top 8 in a local tourney, lol.
Yeah, capcom’s business practices are all retarded. Scumbag capcom ought to be dealt with in someway, but that doesn’t mean that the game is bad by default.
Okay… I’m sure plenty of people got different opinions, even though it seems like you’re trying to drop placement as if it strengthens your top players’ opinions over ours. We have 4 players who placed top 32 at Final Round, one of them getting 4th.
I’m not relying on them for credibility though. I’m just putting up logical arguments to why this game is mostly solid, and I haven’t seen practically anyone refute any of my claims yet. There’s ways around everything in this game but a lot of people don’t take the time to learn it, then write it off as stupid cause they can’t deal with it. If you can at least put up a logical argument as to why you don’t like the game, then that’s fine with me. But I get tired of hearing ‘boohoo stand-jabs and crossups, I haven’t learned any of the unique game mechanics and how they shut that shit down, boohoo abc launcher combos that almost always do less damage than regular links so I don’t know why they’re a problem.’
I’ve been posting plenty of ways to deal with that, then they go silent until the next guy comes in and rehashes the same ‘stand-jab and crossup = derp’ argument. Boohoo, people jump more in this game’ So what? Anti-airing is more difficult, but it still works in this game fine, especially when you factor in how deadly counterhit antiairs can be. People will learn how to defend better, and when that does happen, people will stop jumping less again. Tekken has practically no jumping AT ALL, but that doesn’t make street fighter a leapfrog retard festival by comparison. And KOF, don’t get me started on all the hopping and jumping in that game.
I am not either, but when you make the statement “All our great players love it!” it instantly sends the message that if you don’t like it you are a scrub or something along those lines.
I am guessing you are from Houston?
Please oh please do not make the KOF reference because the jumping mechanics in that game is nothing close to SF4 or SFxT. Let me explain why I hate the weaker AA in SFxT and compare it to KOF.
In the SF4 series, jump ins have very large frame advantage on top of having a large buffer window. So as long as you connect a jump in you are generally advantaged. This system wasn’t too bad in SF4 because AA was so good that in order to land a jump in you needed to be wise with when you leave the ground. In SFxT the restriction on jumping has been made easier because of weaker AA, but at the same time it also seems to have more frame advantage. It takes less skill to land those jump ins and it feels like you are being rewarded for very little effort. The spacing is very generous for the sweet spot.
There are counters and typically I don’t think it helps offense at all because it is still easy to block in most cases, but it is just annoying because it detracts from the ground game which is already somewhat weak to begin with.
It is true KOF has a very air based combat system, but the major problem with the comparison is that while KOF supports jumping more, it is actually more unforgiving of BAD JUMPS. In KOF the block stun on air attacks is small, the hit boxes for most cross ups are not easy to connect with, and worst of all whiffed jumping attacks are punishable! In addition if you don’t time the button in the air correctly you actually can either whiff your attack or get punished on block. On top of all those downsides you got the major problem that there is still good AA in the game and predictable jumps or bad jumps can be picked off rather easily. In KOF you need to space and time your jumps well for them to work otherwise you will be punished.
If you place your jumps well you are rewarded with good offensive pressure, if not you are punished. In SFxT it feels like that isn’t the case.
