It explains exactly why some of us “really old-timers” are still here after all these years. From the very 1st day that I played and got hooked, SF has been in my blood ever since. Sure, there have been years when my interest waned or my enthusiasm dwindled. And even though there were the various versions of SF that didn’t quite grab my full interest, my birth from the original, and the addiction to my favorites has always kept SF close to my heart. It’s part of who I am now and it will probably always be one of my top 3 life-long hobbies.
Even though I was a late comer to the competitive national tournament scene, and a late addition to the OG national player base, and the fact that I was never a top level player… none of those things mattered, because it all came down to one thing…
We all shared the “love of the game”, it was our bond, everyone who had the “love” was welcome, and it was our fraternity.
Even though times are different and though things have changed, it’s still the “love of the game” and the basic love of the competition that keeps me around, and going to “get my fix” from time to time.
That, and my hopes for a new SF game to come out and renew my spirit and recharge my battery. (a DIE HARD, of course)
Actually, If wasn’t for PONG there wouldn’t be any console or arcade games! As this was the game that created the path for the likes of Nintendo, Sega and everyone else…
I don’t want to be hating but…I can’t stand people going to SRK and not wanting to get SF4. They would rather play SC4 or some other shit. It’s great to play fighters but if you don’t play SF and your on shoryuken wtf?
EDIT: The reason I am pointing out this random point is due to the fact that I brought SF4 up with a couple of friends on SRK and they were not impressed and said that they would rather stick to T6 or SC4. There are other sites to get good in those games…but we’re F*CKING SHORYUKEN. This ain’t tekken zaibatsu. Mad respect to those players but if your on SRK sf4 should be your calling. Every other fighting game is secondary. Unless it’s another sf!
I was playing SFA Anthology yesterday and my mom and sister came over (they don’t play videogames), was playin for awhile and my mom said why does that guy keep saying “i told you, i told you”…I’m asked her what she’s talking about because i was really into the game, she said "when that guy puts his hands forward and that white stuff show he keeps saying “i told you, i told you”.
When i thought about it for a second, i started cracking up laughing…i explained to her that the “stuff” she’s referring to was Ryu’s fireball and when he was throwing the fireball he wasn’t saying “i told you”, he was saying “hadouken”.
