I haven’t even gone the past 3 years (Visa issues) and already I have someone who says that he will make sure that I get laid when I do (guy also happens to be a Marine, so I’m taking his word for it). Now if that doesn’t demonstrate how awesome the community is, then I don’t know what does.
To be honest, the only time I’ve ever seen someone get shit on (besides on here) for being new, is when THEY act like a dick first. If I tell someone, “Hey man, you might wanna learn to block low. I hit you with a lot of sweeps.” and they retort with “fuckingfaggotdieandfuckyourdeadgranpa!” then yeah, I’m gonna tear them apart with sarcasm. But I don’t think I’ve EVER seen someone get shit on just for being inexperienced. Maybe I just haven’t seen a lot, but usually for every action (being a dick), there’s an equal reaction (being a bigger dick.)
I just re-watched that CORN “Not a real nigga” video…
He never forced him to say anything. That dude buried himself. People make asses out of themselves all the time and put it on the internet. Nothing new here… meh.
This guy was just a dick for no reason. Met him at NEC and I’m like, “Oh, hi, I’m Mixah” and he was about to shake my hand… he heard my tag… “OHHHH” and he pulled back and walked away. I was about to throw my MAS at the back of this motherfucker’s head. I never even did shit to this dude, just saw each other lurking around the forums and shit. He’s still on these forums and an admin or mod or something, so I ain’t going to say who it is… Don’t need to rile his panties up again.
Oh yeah, add one to that… RSigley tried getting me arrested over a joke thread… Back in like 2k5, everybody knew I was just a troll so I posted something up about selling social security numbers… This dude calls my local police and sends them screenshots… somehow he managed to get my cell phone number from somebody else… gives all this information to them - And irrenicus saved my ass and called me to have me defend myself before the police called me… smh… I didn’t even know who that dude was until then… He just didn’t like me.
Funny thing is Aris commentates alot with a female commentator when they have Tekken Tournaments. She shit talks him as much as he does, does anyone bother to post that. Nope that does not correlate with “shocking news”
Yo how the fuck is the FGC racist? People may be hostile to each other (competitive environment, deal with it) but if anything it’s pretty damn diverse.
This might sound pretty naive or simple, but as a white guy living in a predominantly white country (97.99% white according to the 2001 census), I don’t come into contact with a lot of people from ethnic backgrounds other than British. In my national community it’s mostly white guys too. When I throw on a stream I see Justin Wong playing Puerto Rican Balrog playing Filipino Champ playing Christopher Gonzalez playing Michael Mendoza. Although it’s hardly an example of different cultures (as all are pretty American anyways), it’s not what I usually see day to day, which is white on white violence.
The only thing this video has shown is that in the past 4 years this community grown something akin to a toxic symbiotic relationship with its audience.
Actually it’s the fact that we have an audience. Somewhere along the line people started watching us for entertainment. At first most of us were ecstatic because when more folks started rolling in we thought:
“Hey, more people to play with us! More people to share the enjoyment of this hobby of ours! I can’t wait to train new members! This is exciting!”
Instead what happened is all these folks ran right up to us, built a gate / formed an entrance and then just stopped there. They set up bleachers, built a stadium, whatever, but they never leave that area. They’ll talk about how funny ‘FINGER LASERSSSS’ is as a phrase, they’ll chant ‘YOU ARE ALL FREE NOW’, they’ll huddle together to moan at how ‘MORRIGAN IS SO LAME CHRIS G IS LAME’.
The only reason this bothers me (and perhaps others) is that I genuinely want people to enjoy the experience of ALL of this, I want others to partake in it, to see how much fun this is. Sure, the fact that there’s more people to play is great, but I want more folks to have as much fun as I am, to enjoy this hobby of mine as much as I have.
This is why articles like this piss me off. It’s akin to him walking up to me, with all the fun I’ve had in the past ten years, and all the great friends I’ve made and just slapping me in the face because somebody ended up crying at one event or some idiots on youtube or talking shit.
The thread opener should play some League of Legends to get a real perspective of where the assholes in gaming are. Even stream monsters look like fucking saints compared to what you see in many LoL matches.
Also their vocabulary is much more limited. They really can’t say much other than cursing, “noob”, “feeder”, “report”, “OP” and “metagame”.
And I don’t know how many non-FG streams you watch but stream monsters are always the same, with the same type of shitty jokes even. This can be seen in SC2, MOBA games, speedrunning streams etc. etc.
So the problem was never with fighting games specifically but with mankind. Good luck with that bro.
