“Perhaps you’ve never considered that some people LIKE playing characters that ended up top tier in this game?”
I guess it’s just simple coincidence that so many people love sagat, man. he’s so cool!! he’s got an eye patch, ya know… oh, a fireball and uppercut move!! he’s so unique. and of course, haohmaru, sake drinking, sword slashing, ass-whomping, cool hair, wind controlling samurai with that cool l3 super… hmm… how many people do you see play him?? or benimaru… the guy is bordering on pimp status. and kyosuke, sole rep of the well loved rival schools series. you’d think with him being the ONLY rival schools character, he’d be wildly popular. this is not the case. geif, sf’s original grappler. barely anyone uses him. and dhalsim… how many people loved dhalsim back in the days of sf2?? or maybe they only picked him cuz he was good, now that he sucks it’s on to sagat.
you still think people play their fave characters and not just the best?
“people invest time in learning characters because they enjoy improving themselves?”
umm… but you later said, the PURPOSE of fighting games is TO BEAT THE OTHER GUY. not to improve yourself. so why not pick only the best? which is it man?
“You seem to equate working hard with not having fun.”
working hard to get maybe 1 level 3 super IF LUCKY against some guy who gets 2 lv3’s per round with tons of bonus damage JUST BY GETTING BEAT ON is like climbing an icy cliff with bare hands.
"For one, people don’t step into an arcade expecting to pick some random team and win or even compete well with it. That’s stupid. What kind of idiot wastes their money doing that? "
I know this. That’s why they pick sagat, blanka etc., and not chang/haohmaru/kyosuke/benimaru/yuri etc.
I pick top tiers just because I love pissing off people that think they are “superior” by picking crappy characters. Usually these guys are no good (there are some rare exceptions), so I make them even more angry by using a super-scrubby style against them. And winning.
Haha you got hate for k groove…well I got hate for you cause k groove=bestest:evil: . Stop hating on k groove man, it’s not about getting beat on to get meter, it’s about SUPIRIOR JD ABILITLY LIKE ME:evil: . If I play my best I can get a whole bar with nothing but jd’s. You say k groove gets meter 2 times a round, but you fail to mention that A GROOVE SAKURA gets a billion becuase she gains the most amount of meter at one time.
ie Jump crossupjump mk for you scrubs;) s.lp s.lp s.lk dp.hp. that gives you like 5 or 10% meter every time you do it. wtf.
I mean stop complaining so much. If k groove is so bad just pick a groove and counter. Or pick c groove and turtle with your stored supers. I mean all is not lost, get better, learn the game, and comeback and maybe people wont call you a scrub.
Shit I play Cammy now just off the sheer fact that she is so cheese to play in K Groove its almost unfair.
I still play who I like most of the time ie Athena Joe Terry etc but I still know if I want my best chance of winning I play my best teams K Joe/Sagat or Cammy/2Blanka or N Athena/Terry/2 Blanka.
I play Blanka with every team I have and always will. Call me a top tier scrub if you like I really dont give a shit.
I’m planning on taking my Cheese A Groove Suck team to new levels. Ken / Haoumaru’s cheap 1 button A groove ghetto combos. All about knowing when to CC into em. And Sakura is a duh for A groove. I mean …love the sho sho sho sho sho …but I played Sakura in Alpha 2/3 so its like. <3333 Shes Finally High Tier. My A groove sucks though, so I feel at the moment I need some kinda high tier. Ken being a shoto, mid tierage. And Haoumaru …well . Yeah. I was also thinking S Rolento o_O; As weird as that sounds, I haven’t check’d Rolly’s G-Atks yet, but endless steel rains + run aways …sound kinda annoying to me already. Plus free c.mk’s to super are fun …Rolento’s 30 stun combos would own …if you know, stun wasn’t so terribly gay in CvS2. Stinger Pressure is A-OK too
man… i love Ky in GGXX… the most balanced game according to the fanboys… but I find it so retarded that Eddie or Slayer can kill me in one or two hits some of which are UnBlockable. But when i hit them, I do like 30% damage… how fair is that? Not to mention I have 0 mixups.
I like Xism Dan in A3… why can’t I beat VAkuma or ASim? I hate this game too.
I like Hayato, Jill, and Dan in MvC2… I can’t ever get a win. I hate this game too.
I like Sean in 3S… and I have to work so hard to win, when all ChunLi has to do is land a random cr MK 2 times, and she wins. Fuck this game as well.
I like Zangief in ST… why is it so hard for my ass to get a win vs Sim or Rog. Fuck this game.
I like Honda in WW… why does Guile own me? I hate this game as well.
See the pattern? Notice how in every game, the top tiers don’t have to work as hard as low tiers to win? If you like S groove Kyosuke (or are just saying it to be the Devil’s Advocate)… and you are whining about hating CvS2 and how BS the game is and how it is unfun to play it because it is hard for lower tiers to win… well don’t play it. ALso… don’t play any of the games stated above, because top tiers own in those games as well. I guess if S groove Kyosuke were top tier and Sagat were low tier, you’d like CvS2 more huh? That makes no sense, because the game would essentially be the same with different characters placed in different places. Or would you whine about Sagat then? So if you are whining about tiers… which you are… I say quit playing fighting games, and play cards or something… you might quit that too, because the King top tier… and 2 of Spades is not.
"I mean stop complaining so much. If k groove is so bad just pick a groove and counter. Or pick c groove and turtle with your stored supers. "
-> I love where you mention how S-Groove can do well against K.
“See the pattern? Notice how in every game, the top tiers don’t have to work as hard as low tiers to win?”
-> EXACTLY MAN!!! Thanks for agreeing with me. You’re just showing exactly what I’ve been saying by describing top characters in all of those games and admitting that they exist in Cvs2.
“if S groove Kyosuke were top tier and Sagat were low tier, you’d like CvS2 more huh?”
-> This is exactly what I think sucks. What they need is balance. A game where player skill is what makes a winner, NOT character selection.
Frankly, who gives a rat’s ass? The game’s already out there so there’s not much Capcom can do about it. See either adapt or die.
You don’t have to play top tier A or K groove teams to win, though it does make things easier. To me, it just gives me more reason to get better.
No more whining. The game is a bit broken. But look at MvC2… Where’s the thread for that? CvS2 is no where near as broken as that. You can take low tier characters in CvS2 and get some wins… but in MvC2? Yeah, right.
CvS2 is NOT broken. MvC2 is NOT broken. I hate when people use that word and don’t even know what it means. SvC is broken, not Marvel. Gen, QUIT BITCHING. You cannot expect to have fun if you pick the worst chars in the game, in the worst groove in the game, and suck to boot.
I know the difference between actually broken and unbalanced…
Hence why I denoted just how broken it was before actually using the word broken. It’s unbalanced… What do you want? It’s not a horrible and broken game, but it isn’t balanced and perfect either. I was simply stating that yes… There are tiers involved and not everything is balanced, but it doesn’t ruin the game… It ups the competition.
Edit: And as for Marvel, that’s just a personal bias for the game… I really am sick of seeing the same 4-5 characters over and over. The gaps in the tiers there tend to get out of hand. But… it’s still bearable when you look at it in the full perspective.
 You never cease to make me laugh. note I didn’t know your were signing up for cvs2 in the durham tourny…prepare to get owned by MEEEE.
“I love where you mention how S-Groove can do well against K.”
Please stop,
Not all grooves counter each other, Thus s groove might not do so well against k groove. I’m thinking s groove can do good against c groove. C groovers turtle and s groovers rush and with that dodge cancel you can add to some mixups and mess with a turtlers mind and break there defenses.
Oh and another thing with s groove…run…stop in front of your opponent…then charge quickly(tap the two buttons), that baits a poke or super since you can dodge imediatly after charge. After there attack wiffs, punish.
-> This thread to me is about pointing out flaws in CvS2, and this IS THE MAIN FLAW THAT I SEE. I mean geez, this IS a discussion group, we’re just posting on the topic (why do you hate cvs2). If you’re gonna come in here and say “Quit whinning, quit bitching” then don’t post at all, you’re being counter-productive. YOU DONT HAVE TO READ OUR OPINIONS! we can post what we want.
I mean, no one would go into a thread that says “who would you like to see in cvs2” and say “No!! the character you suggested will never be in the game!!! why are you posting this! the game is already out!!! shut up!”
No game comes close to absolving character selection, and you’re not ever going to see one in the distant future. Not while there’s money on the line. Not while programmers have time for more important things with their jobs than to nitpick at frame data, for EVERY move in the game, to keep you from bit ching. Not while people like you continue to bit ch and make things seem more complicated than they really are. Not while said bit ching still detracts from the popularity of fighting games. Not as long as you live.
And STILL, no game comes closer to absolving character selections than CvS2 and GGXX. Top-tiers in those games lose to a lot more lower-tiered characters more often (yes, even small occurences in SBO count for something- they CAN happen). MvC2 isn’t that close to being unbalanced either. If you ever saw Joey Zaza in play, you’d know that you can take any low-tier with the right team/assist combinations and win if you’re skilled enough.
Thus, your opinion is flawed, and you’re attempts to defend it by reiterating that “it’s just an opinion that doesn’t need to be read” is hereby pointless. That said, STFU.
uh the point of my post was to point the fuck out that 99% of fighting games are not balanced. So if you see a fighting game you’d have to assume its not going to be balanced. So you whining about something that is already assumed and proven is a waste of thread space and time. I mean all you have to figure out is, “Is CvS2 a fighting game?” Yes it is. So therefore… like 99% of all other fighting games… the game is not balanced. The problem is, you are making this stupid ass thread in just this game section… why not… go make one about 3S… because if you watch recent Acho videos, you can clearly see the top tierness of Ken and Chun… as one person’s Ken or Chun runs through an entire team of non-Ken/Chun/Yuns (consisting of 3 people on the team). And also go into the GGXX thread. And A3. You get the point. Right now, your whining about a particular fighting game is like, someone whining about why there were some bad calls by the officials in the Lakers vs Spurs series. When there is a basketball game, its just a fact that there’s bound to be some bad calls by the refs, because thats just how it is. Similarly… when there is a fighting game, it is a fact that it won’t be balanced. Thats just how it is. As I said, you want balance and fairness… play Chess or Poker or Scrabble. Stop fucking whining about shit that can’t, won’t, and has proven in the past to not have changed.
yea… you don’t see me posting a thread about it… so similarly… how about you stop bitching like a sorostitute who got an STD? Just don’t play fighting games. Play Chess.
Dude quit-cher-bitching. If anything MvC2 is less balanced than cvs2.
What other mid tier team could stand a chance against team god? (mag, storm, sent) Nobody.
Lets put it this way. This should end the bickering. Out of all the fighting games out there, cvs2 is the most balanced(well tied with ggxx) fighter out there because theres more useable characters in the game.
