i think people are just now starting to come up with some viable keepaway tactics and strats. i saw more lame at the last WNF and over the course of the last 2-3 weeks than over the 3 months prior. i think people are starting to get comfortable with this game and slowly learning the keepaway strats…
it may in all honesty be a direct result of having to find some way to combat wolvie without actually using him.
i think keepaway is slept on in this game for now…
or a better word for it would be “zoning” i guess.
Its cool, I know that zoning and keepaway are coming back strong. Ammy and doom can rush and zone so this is a good start I think considering what Clock is doing.
his keepaway is annoying and effective against certain characters/teams. That turbo akuma projectile spam along with dr doom missiles assist can be frustrating to deal with if he locks you down. Then when you finally get rid of those 2, you have to deal with his level 3 xfc gold armor arthur with turbo lance throws.
everytime I read a whiner complain about keepaway it’s because they couldn’t get in. It’s easier in theory but it’s harder to execute. A combo person will always have that “puncher’s chance” though
The online community for fighting games is horrible, and you can get hate mail for pretty much any way you are playing if you win. Sometimes I feel like every match ends with players running to the forum to either brag about how they made someone else rage, and/or rage. People just need to get over it, it’s not worth forum space.
I beat some first lords and cosmics with my F team, and it’s terrible. Online doesn’t mean shit at all.
Just because your strat works on some random netplayers doesn’t mean it works against people who can deal with keepaway.
As a side not
Mag/zero/dante/akuma/ammy can semizone pretty well with a mix between rushdown/runaway to throw on a team. A good team I’ve seen is task/dante(jam)/doom(missles/rocks) try it… it works
In norcal local tourneys, he still places pretty high, but some of the competition has his zoning strategy and tendencies figured out. Honzo plays a pretty smart game, though.
Keepaway is annoying. That’s why people hate it. But when it comes to Wolverine going into your shit, killing 2 of your characters in one combo, people don’t find that shit annoying LMAO.
Here is how I see it. I would rather fight Dios X keepaway than fight ANY Wolverine player, because people do screw up keepaway and they will possibly get hit. With Wolverine, 2 of my characters are dead and all I have left is X-Factor… if I can block this mix-up thats coming as soon as I come in.
And to those who say that Keepaway is easy or a scrub strategy: Keepaway may be annoying as fuck, but its damn sure aint easy. I mean, just look at all the stupidly good rushdown characters in this game with teleports, crazy good high/low mix-ups and left/right mixups. It gets tough to block and to keep them out…
It is annoying but Wolverine matches are less annoying due to the fact that progression in the match is being made much faster and the annoyance is sure to end soon that involves Wolverine killing an entire team, or Wolverine killing 1-2/3 of your team and you reverse OCVing or die trying after Wolverine’s dead.
Playing against keepaway is more annoying because instead of simply being gutted by Wolverine, it’s like your opponent put you in a cage and pokes you with a stick for 99 Marvel seconds. Taskmaster arrows are more like being poked with cattle prods. In short, it’s more entertaining when characters die.
I’ll take Berderper Slash->Berderper Charge with derpy dive kicks any day over people who focus on keep away.
