Why do people feel the need to be lame in beginner lobbies?

Whats the point? if you just want to practice your combos, go into training mode. Nothing destroys a game’s user base faster than forbidding it from getting any better. This isn’t GG or BB, there are no bursts. The second you make a mistake, you are entirely at the mercy of your opponent. The entire point for lower level play is so that people can actually learn the game without spending entire days in the lab: getting the feel for how matchups work against actual people, changes to their old favorite characters, or simply messing around and playing thoughtfully.

This isn’t me whining, you can abuse all the exploits/unblockables/resets/etc you want in ranked matches, advanced player lobbies, etc. Better yet, if you’re that good, make a boot camp lobby and teach people a bit. If we continue to stop new people from learning how to play without having to resort to days of training and pages of movedata, expect to see a new revision within the next few months again

Fastest way to learn is to play better players.

this is very true, but you don’t learn anything if you can’t input anything. hence my comment about boot camp if you’re “beating them for their own sake”

It teaches you to block better.

you learn how to block
edit: I’ve been beaten

get better and beat them, then teabag and leave

you will feel SOOOOOOOOOOOOO SATISFIED

so do multiple small combos. honestly, they teach you a lot better. when i say be lame, i’m mostly referring to people who do things like spam 100% combos that are safe on initial hit. Just use smaller BnBs and your point holds up a lot better.

I’m not new to fighting games, and I even used to play MvC3 quite a bit. This is an open letter for the better players to stop acting like assholes in modes specifically designed for lower level players.

You want them to stop doing combos when they earned a hit so you can get a chance to hit them? wat

Let it out, bro.

Is it specified in-game that these are beginner lobbies? I’ve only played UMvC3 offline so I wouldn’t know.

no, just do smaller combos so that the fight isn’t decided in literally 3-4 opening attacks. if you don’t put assist/OTG extensions on your combos, you give a beginner (you know, the people who these lobbies are supposed to be full of) a chance to learn from their mistake.

Imagine if every time you messed up in mission mode, you had to wait out a 99 second timer before you could try again. That would kinda suck, wouldn’t it?

since people seem to be misunderstanding my point, allow me to restate it. the point of this topic is that veteran players act like assholes in beginner lobbies. all of the tactics they use are legit and players of all skill levels need to learn how to counter them, but thats what intermediate and advanced level play is for. all you have to do is not pick that one lobby name. hell, player matches give you the option to rematch anyway.

You learn from your mistakes faster if you lose a character.

mahvelbabysodiumetc

yes

Usually the so called “good people” who feel the need to terrorize beginner lobbies aren’t that great to begin with. I don’t approve of what these people do either. But all you can do is deal with it, learn from what they do, practice, find them, and blow them the fuck up.

All the time you’ve spent bitching you could be leveling up to beat those so-called “ass holes”

It makes me feel good about myself after I lose to go beat someone a lower skill level than I am so that my hurt feelings become their hurt feelings. In a way, I am sharing my experience with beginners.

kk, i gained 20 soul levels. m i good nao?

seriously though, its been half an hour since this thread started. if you developed the ability to entirely master online play with every matchup within the past half hour, please, enlighten me!

again, this isn’t about me personally, this is about the player base on the whole. even the different guilty gear iterations were more beginner friendly than this game, so let them learn at their own pace, ja?

Or don’t listen. It’s whatever. Continue being scrubby and no one caring.
