Daigo played Ryu in A3 and he was mid tier in that game so why wouldnt he play him in 3rd strike instead of tier whoring to Ken? Personally I think Ryu can be won in tournament espically if daigos playing him.

Daigo played Gouki in A3, yes. Go research your old vids of him vs. Valle’s V-Ryu.
As for 3rd Strike, Ken’s better, so why not?

Why? Why would someone want to win? It’s all about last place. Daigo is 100% noob for not piking ryu.

He could have done well with Ryu, but as has been illustrated/implied by others, Daigo is really more loyal to shotos/shoto style characters than he is to Ryu. He has said in interviews that the first thing he looks for in a character is a very good “GTFO me” move, i.e. a shoryuken type move… Ken has an outstanding SRK in 3S, he’s much faster than Ryu, and most people agree that Ken’s SA3 is a lot better than any of Ryu’s supers. All of that said, Ken is no longer considered as high tier as he used to be…
So, why exactly wouldn’t he pick Ken?

what do you mean? The only character that usurps ken from top 3 is makoto, and that is debatable.

I am not saying he went from “best character in game/broken character” to mid-tier or anything, but I’ve seen other reputable sources say that Ken’s esteem has slowly dropped over the years. Wasn’t he considered to be in the same tier as Yun and Chun (below them, but still in the “God tier”) at one point, especially in America?
Ken did go through a brief period when there weren’t many players doing well with him(this was also when Chun was really starting to shine as a god-tier character…moreso than before), but I still say he’s Top 3. There’s been a lot of recent showings where Ken has done either extremely well or flat-out dominated, including against Chun. If anything I wanna say that Yun’s slowly been in danger of losing his #2 spot in the past year or so, but I’ll admit that’s pretty hard to swallow.
Is Duds firmly behind the other four or is it pretty close?
I think Dudley and Yang are both tied for 5th, if not then Yang followed by Dudley. Both characters do pretty decent against the Top 4, but I think Yang does better against Chun and Yun. Tokura I believe explained that Yun has an air advantage against Yang, but on the ground they’re more evenly matched. Dudley has shown numerous times that he can kill Chun once he gets in, but the range game is tough. Yang has easier tools to be able to close that gap and he gets scary with just enough meter for EX Slashes.
What do you make of Kuroda’s statement(s) that Akuma is the best character in the game? I’m not challenging your above analysis by asking, just genuinely curious if you think there is any validity to that, if he is trolling/insane, etc.

I’ve only ever heard that statement about Gouki second hand so I’m tempted to say it must be some kind of mistranslation or something. Def don’t think in the real (non Kuroda) world of 3s Gouki is, as he’s always been, worse than Yang/Dud, but better than Urien/Ryu/all the rest.
