Would everyone quit trying to justify Capcom refusing to make a new 2D fighter/SF4? I’m tired of ppl acting like wanting to see a brand new Capcom 2D fighter is asking too much. It’s not like Capcom invented the sequel. They’re just a bunch of rich lazy assholes. They know their fanboys will buy anything with a Capcom logo on it, so why don’t they just release a new 2D fighter?

Plus the 150+ hit bullshit is old, the only way u can even get near the hundreds is by infinite xx super xx DHC/THC/HG xx TEMPx3 or AHVBx3. A simple ROM setup wit mag then s.RH xx Shockwave does over half health and thats 11 hits. Where as in MVC1 Strider had a dial ground combo (7hits) that does over half health and doesnt need a super. My question is does that take skill?

WHOA! Lots of MVC2 fans here. I said I like the Game, of course it requires some level of skill just not as much as other Fighters out there, that’s all. And it’s mostly my personal Opinion and that of the entire continent of Asia which is why MVC2 isn’t popular in Japan. And you should be aware that MVC2 has it’s fair number of haters before you single me out. I don’t mean to offend here.
As far as ‘my skills’ I’m not Tourney player, but having used Arcade Sticks and playing Arcade Perfect Versions of X-Men vs. SF and MSH vs. SF on the Japanese Saturn, having practiced the MVC style of play at home with Arcade sticks for years gave me a big advantage and I did fairly well in competition in Arcades. So I’m not the best, but I can hold my own. I’m not sure what any of this has to do with my personal opinion on a game but EH. I don’t run around calling people ‘scrubs’ based on an opinion, that’s silly.
um, isnt it like an unwritten code to not do infinites when playing in the arcade, unless its a real terdy scrub who wouldnt understand what you were doing anyways. i personally love cvs2, at first i criticized it because i was use to mvc2, and not this old school style of fighting. well old school for me, because i was drooling over the vs series forever, but then i saw the light and oh my god, this game(cvs2) is so sick, but i cant leave my mvc2, because its mad fun, and im blabbering, yaaaay :encore:

fighting games barely get recognize these days except for mortal kombat and soul calibur, but either way those games got huge promotions. also if you look at it, midway and namco so far seems to be the only 2 companies that actually put effort into making their fighting games. capcom on the other hand is too lazy to remake new sprites and snk just releases the same old thing every year. when will these 2 companies actually try to make a decent fighting games??

As far as MVC2 goes at the very least, Filter on G4 Tech TV had a fan contest for the favorite Fighter voted on by it’s members. I don’t remember all the numbers but Guilty Gear X2 was the only game listed as a single enty at number 10. SF series was 9, Mortal Kombat Series, Virtua Fighter and Tekken Series’ were there. CVS Series was higher than SF Series, and MVC2 beat out all of these games (No SNK Games) but lost to number 2 - Smash Bros. Series and No. 1 - Soul Calibur. So in the poll it basically beat out every 2D Fighter and lots of 3D Games except for the top too. So it is popular in the US, but I never said otherwise.

I agree with you a lot. I too have the Saturn version of XvsSF, and MvsSF, and I have played that saga for many years, and I too love it. However I am inclined to agree with Sano, that the Vs. series is more FLASH than FIGHT. Which is why I think Capcom even made the Cap Vs. SNK games, they were targeting the players who didn’t like the no super jump and 150 hit super combo stuff. They went for the…well with all due respect, the “true” players. I even have an article on this, and that was their goal. Now granted, that game wasn’t the BEST game in the world, they made a sequel with a little more flair, but the root and the point of the game stayed the same.
And look…I play these games not to analyze them and point out every frickin’ flaw in it…I play them to PLAY them. They’re games for god’s sake! And look how many people are getting into drama fests, and how you all get so damn technical with them. Sheesh…you all need to calm down.
I’m also inclined to agree with the one person here who stated very strongly that he didn’t like CFJ. I personally thought it was for the most part…recycled. They gave Zangief some redder cheeks, and that was it. It didn’t “feel” like a new game…it felt like I was playing weird versions of my favorite games. So I can understand what he was saying, it’s not really worth the money…especially if the character selection is severely limited. But hey, I guess that was Capcom’s way of going out with a bang, because the creator of SF left the company not too long ago. And if capcom makes another 2-D fighting game [And I highly doubt it], it won’t feel the same.

and for the people that are glad that mvc2 isnt popular in other parts of the world, that’s a shame…i guess you must have dead scenes compared to the USA, or you must not like all the drama that goes on in the versus scene, just look at some of the latest ec vids, they are quite entertaining. There’s nothing wrong with not liking Marvel, but the same arguments that keep popping up over the years are just silly.
i think they hate mvc series just cause they tried and tried and never get better, and the only thing that goes out of their mouth its a silly opinion about marvel.
I’ve heard this argument used by the people who don’t like Marvel as well-- saying that people like Marvel because they try and try to get better at other fighters but can’t.
I personally don’t think this argument can be applied to the majority of fighting game fans either way-- I’m sure there are some people who could be good at a game and still not like it-- but there are a few people who are good at traditional fighters and suck at Marvel (and vice versa).
It just isn’t for everyone, I guess. 
Back onto the original topic though-- I definitely think Capcom should continue making games with the MvC engine, it’s tons of fun and suits alot of people’s style better than more traditional fighters. I don’t think they should drop the CvS style stuff either, but they definitely need to get away from the “nothing but old-school fighters” kick they’ve been on the last few years. Nothing wrong with a little variety-- that way, everyone’s happy.
Thats the most common conclusion about people hating marvel, its just cause they are not good at it. I’m not that good and i still like it a lot more than any fighting game of it class.

i actually dont understand how can someone still play KoF, i cant even look at this fucking game, this game has been the same since the day it came out, and there still people that give support to this shit and for capcom since it left the vs series with marvel it has become a fucking shit and will continue like that if the company dont make something new, i’m talking all this shit cause i’m tire of fucking svc and kof i had never play any of this games cause i cant even look a it, “Make me sick”.
