I just want to throw in a +1 for wanting GGPO here. I know why we don’t have it, but I feel it’s important to say we want it at every chance.
GGPO is a relatively processor-intensive middleware. Both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Marvel already have problems handling the game’s crazier moments, so to add another CPU-intensive process into the mix simply isn’t possible even if it Capcom wanted to do it.
Edit: If you think online is unplayable because it’s too hard to execute some combos, you’d complain 10x as much if the game came to a crawl every time a team hyper combo happened or every time a hyper was performed while 2 assists were on screen.
PC release then ?
Seriously , ssf4 - > mvsc3 is a big step back in the online mode and both games share the same netcode … Anything with a minimum of timing is a epic fail on mvsc3 online. Even the options menu in the lobby are rush , any reason to not be able to see other players ping or to be unable to kick anyone out of the room? These simple options are out of the game and put the online experience even worse . Something is wrong in capcom and this dilemma always remind me this question …
How far capcom can get away with the bare minimum without any consequences. It’s obvious in vanilla , the online mode ( + the netcode) was one of the last priority .It should be the same in umvsc3 because of the short among time in development. News charecters , flashy graphic and news or alternates stages are the top priority in umvsc3 development .
It’s like that on every gaming forum or gaming website.
2d does not equal 3d lets get that out of the way
and I’d rather have a improved netcode then ggpo tbh
It’s ok not to have GGPO, but the current netcode is so fucking bad it hurts. At least give us something playable like SF IV.
Give us something playable and option for ggpo, k thx capcom!
I wish these FG companies put more priority on the quality of the netcode rather than the quality of the stages. You would think Online Play would be the top of FG company’s list in today’s video game world. If it’s a hardware issue than sacrifice things that won’t ruin the game mechanics like background animations. Being able to play in a good online environment is a lot better than seeing that huge bird or flying ship in Asgard.
Let’s see if UMvC3’s netcode will be better. I’m sure it’ll be tested immediately…
after playing 3soe,id rather not have ggpo for my xbox games.
i think the current netcode for marvel is fine.
well for xbox anyway.
I liked just so I could unlike it
I strongly disagree.
i know im not trying to get people to agree but the roll back thing is so annoying.
iv had more issues with oe then mvc3
yh i <3 you so ima keep yours liked
Is it this DBZ game that has ggpo?

Cos if so that kinda ends the “no GGPO in 3D games” argument.
It’s really terrible on the ps3 at least. Every time I try to input something it takes forever to respond. And when I was playing online I had a 120 mbit connection so it definitely wasn’t the connection that sucked. It was the netcode.
FIX IN UMVC3 PLEASE!!! Do it properly… If you can play fps’s online without a problem, can we play fighting games like that too please!!!
It’s too late for Marvel. But there might still be hope for SF X Tekken. Shout it from the rooftops. Capcom JPN’s use of terrible netcode must come to an end! Rise up and stop the tyranny!
LOl they fuck up the lobby in umvsc3 again. No indication to look on a player ping . It is not confirm yet , but im sure you can’t kick people out of the room again.
My hope for a decent netcode and online mode for umvsc3 are gone . Take a look for a screen of umvsc3 lobby http://www.eventhubs.com/images/2011/aug/25/ultimate-marvel-vs-capcom-3-aug-25-image-1/
Anyway , a lot of people will buy this rush sequel and everyone will find a shitty excuse to forgive capcom for some crappy aspects of the game like the netcode.
When its bad, its bad. When its good…its not so bad.
I have pretty good experiences with online as well.
“I’m not 100% sure that you’ll be able to kick players, but I’ll bitch about it anyway.” Real talk.
Arguing about this has gone on forever, so just shut up about this. People play what they enjoy, and if they enjoy something despite the flaws, who are you to try to convince them that they don’t?
You think that we’re mindless fanboys? Alright, let us be mindless fanboys. You can go back to Unity and tell all of your buddies how you got an SRK member to admit that he was a mindless fanboy. Just stop derailing threads with this sort of talk.
I’d personally rather have rollback than have to have seperate “online” and “offline” combos, but to each their own.
