Because Morrigan is sexy and not just flat-out gross.
She’s a fan favorite because her sexiness makes her STAND OUT in the Darkstalkers games, since the majority of the cast are monsters and ghouls that aren’t supposed to be sexually appealing. She and Felicia stand out specifically because their sexiness makes them distinct from all the other characters in the game. She has a unique design and a style that’s distinctly hers. You can impose any number of your personal fetishes on her, and they’re likely to sync up with her character. That’s what makes her super hot.
I look at the Skullgirls and try to match them with my personal tastes, and it just doesn’t work. They just don’t seem to understand the art of making endearing characters, allowing people to project their own fantasies onto them. They don’t get the art of moé.
I think its the relative subtlety in the end like Genie from Aladdin making modern references vs a lot of non-Disney movies being real contemporary about the lingo and nature.
Morrigan uses homages and junk too like her supers being mech suit like, but it becomes a part of her charm and is used as a technique to show she’s an eccentric and carefree person despite being literally a monstrous slut.
Meanwhile with say Double where in what context of ANY kind would she do that Gradius super? The same goes to Filia and Samson doing the Ryu pose or Peacock knowing the Yukkuri meme.
I like them personally but its a clear difference imo.
lol
I feel like we know you don’t like this game. You probably have no need to post in this thread, since it would then devolve into one of the quite deliberately banned X vs Y threads: it might be interesting to hear from other people here.
Why do people just assume that people are playing Marvel out of some bizarre Stockholm Syndrome? Maybe they enjoy MVC3. This community loves to jump to assumptions.
A few people tried to pull the same shit before the game came out with me- I play Arcana so clearly I’m interested in SG right? Clearly because it’s al all girls fighter- ignore the gameplay entirely.
You can’t just assume that because games are similar players of one game will jump to the other. Why don’t 3s players play 2i?
Speaking of jumping to assumptions, no one outright said people play Marvel 3 even though they hate it, the question is why don’t Marvel players also play Skullgirls, a mechanically similarly designed game to more than a couple games in the Marvel series. There’s multiple answers to that question depending on who you ask, although some of those reasons less, let’s say merited, than others, but no one said people hate Marvel 3.
