I wouldn’t count the 1 otg per combo when there is restands in skullgirls.
Because there’s no money in playing SG.
Small roster, all female cast (no dicks), “anime”
Are we talking MvC2 or MvC3?
It’s tough to say why somebody doesn’t play a game. I play MvC2 and the mechanics are kinda similar but the flow and speed feel a bit slower (low SJ heights and fewer fly/airdash shinnanigans?) and I don’t really like the characters, but visuals have never turned me on or off from a fighting game. The other aesthetics are decent, the music is amazing (I’ve got most of the SG tracks on my Project M mix), and I like it more than MvC3 but it really comes down to how much you like something compared to what you’re playing ATM.
Maybe I’ll try again once there’s more content and system tweaks.
Oh boy, here we go.
Have you considered that it’s because the game simply doesn’t appeal to them?
That said, the former is heavily based on the latter and more often than not Mike does pull from MvC2 (which is why he’s testing undizzies in his test builds).
Speaking of which, you forgot push-block guard cancels.
Oh dear, I can’t figure out why my overly-derivative fighting game full of disgusting fauxnime monster girls and internet memes isn’t selling well.
lol it seems to have a pretty devoted fanbase ready to put money down, whether you be sarcastic at it or not
did Skullgirls kill your dog or something
nah, Mike Z called him a troll and his ass is still hurt.
SKULLGIRLS
-slow gameplay
-ugly busy over-detailed sprites
-boring music and aesthetics
-not enough black people, too many weeaboos
MvC2
-fast fluid
-classic iconic sprites
-custom soundtracks
-black people!
Big Band is black… I think. He’s going to sound black at least.
those are solid points. if Skullgirls had black people calling each other washed up mother fuckers I would probably play it more.
Slow only really applies to the unpatched 360 version. DE tweaked it enough that it’s a faster game overall (unless Fortune is involved, then the game feels like fighting Iron Man where getting caught leads to you getting comboed for days).
Skullgirls needs more men telling each other how pretty their smiles are.
Anyone who thinks the MvC2 sprites look good is lying to themselves. Half of those characters look worse than the games they originated from.
Nowadays SKR: great of ignoring the correct answers.
I’m going to have to agree. Though a larger roster could maybe convince me to try the game out, the sad reality is that the game just doesn’t really appeal to me. It looks like Arcana Heart meets Darkstalkers with a curiously westernized anime aesthetic driving its art direction (and, apparently, it plays like MvC2). On top of that, I know this will sound like a ridiculous reason (because it is a very ridiculous reason), but the fact that it’s a digital-only release is also a factor. I still very much appreciate physical product and would probably give this series my time if it were given a budget physical release.
I mean… it COULD be the lack of characters. It COULD be the excessively female cast, the lack of content, the art style, the derivative nature of the gameplay, the steep learning curve, the game’s lack of originality, the fact that it panders too much, or the highly guro-esque character designs.
…Nah, it must be because X-Factor’s not in it.

I actually sort of liked this game at one point. I mean I still found all these flaws with it but I still liked it, probably out of pity or something.
