Why are people so eager to declare a games 'death'?

I’ve been seeing this alot lately; it’s happenned in the recent past (MK9 for e.g) but it seems to have gotten worse, starting with P4A, to calling DOA5 ‘Dead on Arrival’ and surprisingly TTT2 has become a victim too. This is a pretty new thing (considering the scale, especially during this era of internet connectivity).

Whether it stems from trolls/stream monsters or not, the negative stigma somehow influences and gets embraced by others…do people think it could be detrimental to the FGC (on a problematic scale)?

They’re currently discussing what your talking about here =]

Good question btw, been consistently wondering that as well.

I wonder why too.

Simple life rules: Haters always gon’ hate. And those that are the most vocal about it are usually able to influence others’ opinions with very little evidence to back it up. Basically, if you keep running around and screaming that the world is going to end, odds are that people are going to believe it, and will in turn scream that the world is going to end. It’s the pack mentality that humans have to repeat vocalized statements with little regard to verification or evidence. It’s similar to moon conspiracy theorists who firmly believe that we never went to the moon despite overwhelming evidence in the contrary to refute their false claims.

All of those games are already dead.
Kenshiro confirms it.

Stream Monster ignorance

so they can have an excuse for sucking at it

Wow, I was expecting the first person to reply to insult the OP and receive a ton of likes for it.

Anyway, yeah I agree that declaring the game dead is not really healthy for the game’s community as it may discourage the players from playing the game. I know people sometimes joke about it and that’s fine, just make it a bit more obvious that you are joking because some people might take it seriously.

For the evulz?

Reading front page comments and stream chat is bad for your brain. Stop doing it.

If Persona is dead, why can’t I find a used copy at Gamestop. One of you stingy fuckers needs to trade it in for Ass Creed 3 so I can play.

persona is not dead.

DARKSTALKERS ARE NOT DEAD

ONO SAID SO!!!

In all seriousness though, I think

people just aren’t putting in enough time or effort into representing for their “scenes” or communities for their games

or they are, and they just aren’t drawing in new players

so activity becomes stagnant…

and therefore = hurr durr gaem iz ded letz bak 2 mavul

whether u agree with it or not aesthetics may also be a factor

subjective as it may be

but perhaps that is for another topic another time

THE TRICK IS COMPLICATED YET OH SO SIMPLE

JUST PLAY AND LET THE SCENE DEVELOP.

Monsters gonna monster, ignore it. Most of it is satirical… I hope.

Marvel 3 is dead.

FGC is dead. Who plays for the love the game? Fuck that, I’m playing all the popular ones to make moneys

I think there is a lot to it. There is such a variety of current gen and older games that people want to play and watch. It is difficult to balance it since so many are prioritizing one over the others. Also, the haters are going to hate.

Because its fun watching the fans cry that their game isn’t dead?

Because people have an inherent desire to see people fail if they themselves don’t win.

So if you have a favourite fighting game, you don’t want some other game to come along and steal the community you’ve been playing with. At least that’s why I think people hate on other games. I tell you, those Third Strike/ST fans can be the worst sometimes.
