Who's NOT in the game? De-confirmation thread

There’s no “no” in that tweet though… All he says is that he likes Gill. If it is a deconfirm, it’s pretty absurdly ambiguous. Doesn’t seem to make much sense to me considering he’s been fairly open with noing characters that aren’t in, other than Cyclops.

I’d like to talk to whoever first posted up that twitter summary though ( think it was on Gamefaqs? ) and ask why he thinks it’s a deconfirmation.

If someone insistently offered you something, a kind way to turn them down would be “ii desu yo ne!” It’s like a “thanks but I’m alright,” or “that’s great but no thanks.” That was in part of the definition I provided.

It could certainly be interpreted different ways, but the fact that he said that, and then followed it up by saying that he liked the characters, leads me to believe that he was turning Gill down, but clarifying that he liked the character. Rather than saying a more redundant, “Gill is great, I think he is a great character.”

Yes, I know that, but it’s also a bit ambiguous and can be used more literally, the lack of inflection and tone in a tweet makes it hard to tell… I’m not sure why he wouldn’t go for a more direct answer though. I could just be reading too much into it though.

It could very well be a deconfirm, just saying I find it a bit ambiguous, especially given his other tweets were much more direct.

Closer to “Good suggestion, I like him”

Almost seems to me like he thought the idea was very far fetched and humorous, and didn’t even take the suggestion as seriously as others.

Well there’s Azrael…

I didn’t see anything about shotos not being in with that link you provided.

They name every single one of them and dedicate an entire question to them… in bold…

AD: There have been some complaints about the lack of other Ansatsuken characters such as Ken, Akuma, and Dan. Are you trying to limit your character selection process to only a few characters per franchise like Tatsunoko VS Capcom did?

SK: I don?t think there was any conscious effort to limit certain franchises, but it?s great for character style diversity to reach out to a lot of different games, especially with characters that have never been in a fighting game before. There are important differences between Ken, Dan, Akuma, and Ryu in, say, a Street Fighter game, but in the over-the-top Marvel context, those subtle differences tend to get overshadowed so it?s usually more fun to bring in someone with a totally different style.

A friend told me MODOK was deconfirmed over some stream he watched a few weeks back.

Can anybody confirm this?

Yeah MODOK was deconfirmed at NYCC. They stated the character was too offensive for scrubs.

Come on now, I thought it was OBVIOUS. They disconfirmed MODOK so they cold reveal him again at the next show!

The Cyclops deconfirmation might apply to Megaman X…

They should still put Dan in. Hes not a shoto >:(

But why would Marvel have a problem with MegaMan X in this game ?

Dan IS a shoto, and Megaman X has nothing to do with Marvel nor does he have a visor…

Dan’s not really a shoto. And really shouldn’t be put in the game either. And I like Dan.

How is Dan not a shoto? He’s just a gimped shoto with a crap hadouken, crap shoryu and crap tatsu.

He would make a good MODOK.

The same way that someone who is self taught in TKD and ends up coming up with mediocre/different versions of all the techniques is not a practitioner of TKD?

You’re going with a martial arts analogy for a fighting game? I don’t need to explain why the two are different do I? Having a mediocre version of the shoryuken does not make it different. It makes it a crappy shoryuken, and crappy versions of the same moves a unique character makes not. Fact of the matter is that S-Kill has stated that Dan, Ken and Akuma are too similar for MVC3 and they’re looking for more diversity.

Whilst he doesn’t mention the more debated shotos like Sakura and Sagat I’m betting that their chances are also slim.

Because none of that is analogous to a shoto. At all.

A projectile that goes 1/3 of the screen isn’t a hadoken. A multi-kick move that hits 3 times mid isn’t a tatsu (and it’s not crap). Hell, the multi-kick move isn’t even animated the same; they’re COMPLETELY different. Hell, even his fireball isn’t animated the same. The only thing that Dan has that is shoto-like is his dp (which also isn’t crap).

Dan’s more of a ripoff of two SNK characters. If Dan wasn’t a pallete swap back in the Alpha days, no one would’ve ever called him a shoto.
