Who pairs well with Jin?

Jin’s walk speed is the same as Ryu’s, 80% of Akuma. Right now I have him paired with Lili. Jin plays defensive and builds meter and when he moves in, you switch out to Lili for good combo enders and probably one of the best upclose pressure characters in the game.

Jin’s zoning to me looks more like Viper seismo game. Its more meant to make people do dumb stuff and punish them, rather than to spam it all day.

I use Jin and Ryu, Jin is amazing in this game, sure his poke game and anti airs are the best (Rufus/Geif are possibly his worst match ups) But his potential is really up there. at the start of any match, using special step to get l.l.r.r with the follow up is a good way to put people on notice, and with the jumpin hk cross up he can almost freely get close then jump in to provide really good pressure, plus his punish potential is really really good. I pair with Ryu to cover for jins lack of pokes/anti air. Ryu and jin also have a 577 cross art corner combo, that’s is very devastating. plus if you get off Jins special step links into cross art into ryu, you can get 541 easy damage. Also if you get jin to do a launcher combo into ryu it provides a good chance for tons of options on ryu’s part, like crouch mp, crouch mp, hk tatsu which if the opponent quick rises, you cross them up. you can do ryus super after words for a good bit of damage and space.

After trying a lot of character Im really enjoying Mardoook as anchor. Think people see Marduk and stay away a bit which makes it easier for Jin to zone more effectively. Plus the duke hits like a dam runaway train median cancel turns into nasty damage!! Plus its nice having a relatively easy to use character if my hands decide they ain’t doing a special step today!

Oh yeah! It seems like Ibuki, Ryu, Sagat, Juri, Poison, Hwoarang, Raven, Julia, Ken, Marduk, Xiaoyu (of course), Vega, and Balrog have a lot potential as partners for Jin - they all can cover for his own weakness and each have a viable AA.
I use Juri with Jin as my anchor now - Lili seems promising as well. What should be kept in mind is that there is a patch coming on the 16th and DLC might be coming sooner than predicted - keep track of your characters and fight like a champ everyone!

EDIT: How did I forget Ogre.

I disagree with people saying Jin isn’t that good off of a tag. Jin isn’t like many other folks who will come in and do a million hits to look good. I think his combos off the tag are very simple and very reliable. For instance:

Off Launcher in corner (assuming just a launcher and no other hits prior):

Cr mp (60 dmg) > cr mp (48 dmg) > cr hp (56 dmg) > Mental Alertness > Swaying Willow (60 dmg) = 224 dmg
cr mp (60 dmg) > cr mp (48 dmg) > cr hp (56 dmg) > Penetrating Fist (30 dmg) = 194 dmg
cr mp (60 dmg) > cr hp (72 dmg) > LP Median Line Destruction (35 dmg, 12 dmg, 30 dmg) = 209 dmg

I’m thinking of running Hugo with Jin. Reason being is if Jin gets cornered, Hugo comes in and resets the match (no one will stay close to Hugo), allowing me to switch back to Jin, zone with Penetrating Fist to push them into the corner where both Hugo and Jin are most deadly. I think Jin/Hugo, Jin/Gief, Jin/Ken are pretty safe bets.

I like Guile with Jin because Jin gets outzoned, his pokes aren’t that great and his antiair is weak.
Guile has one of if not the best projectile, solid anti airs(air throw, cr.hp, flashk) and is pokes are really good.

I’m pairing Jin with Chun Li!! They works surprisingly good together! Chun is my point character and Jin is my second!

Sounds good Hodelino, how do you normally approach with Chun and switch in Jin?

With Chun i try to be in Mid-Range and mixing the enemy up. I try to build meter with her, what works very well, and looking for an oppurnity to bring Jin in. Cause of Chun Li’s good pokes, juggling abilitiy and switch cancel in a Spinning Bird Kick combo she can bring Jin in the game really when she wants, and he can finish the juggle. After that I start pressuring with Jin. (Sorry for my Engrish)

So you use Chun just to outpoke and otherwise get in on your opponent, while Jin finishes any combos that end with the Spinning Bird Kick. That’s kind of scary, when you think about it. Good job.

Here is a video of a good Chun Li/Jin player! enjoy it!

His neutral game is good but he didn´t optimize his combos. No five-hit Median Line BnB and no Shun Masatsu dash cancel juggles.

Nevertheless it´s Haneyama and who am I to criticize him?

Yes i know but there are not many Chun Li/Jin players outhere!

Not even mentioning that the video is from early March, the game was only a few days old!

Ah, I knew there was something fishy about the gameplay in that vid :).
I watched the vid embedded so I couldn´t check the date. My computer is about 10 years old an having 3 or more tabs open freezes my browser for minutes.

That Haneyama guy did pretty good, for a character who was only a few days old.

consistently use the father and son team. Kazuya as the point man and Jin as some sort of anchor…lol
Should’ve never given Jin a fireball especially if it’s this useless. And when Guy is unlocked legally, that may be a rare secondary team for the youngest Kazama, Jin.

The fireball is used for the Hugo matchup and for knockdown pressure against any character. After the median line knockdown you can do a HP fireball immediately and they´ll have to either block it (and you´re right next to them because of SS) or roll towards you, facing another mixup. These things are awesome on knockdown, try to find some cool setups and you´ll see their use.
Not a traditional fireball to zone with though, I basically never use them in the neutral game.

Piepmatz makes a point. Jin’s Fireball isn’t useless in any sense, infact, I’m fairly certain he’d be much weaker without it.
