Who’s gameplan revolves more around landing there command grab?
Makoto with karakusa or 98 daimon with ANY of his grabs? she’s more of a grappler than 98 daimon all day long.
I guess my definitions of a grappler is different to yours, the effect of the command throw be it raw damage or the psychological effect it has > the amount of command throws you have
I didn’t think I needed to explain why Tager is an insane concept for a grappler. He literally has two giant mechanized fists that can drag the opponent from full-screen into his grabs and grab supers. He can drag you straight into his fists while you’re mid jump, reset you into neutral stance instead of letting you wake up, has specials that move him forward and can armor him through projectiles that have over a dozen hits, and on top of all of it an extremely fast and large projectile shot that moves fullscreen almost instantaneously and causes a wallbounce, which you can then continue to combo into more grabs.
Oh yeah, and he can Astral you from fullscreen as well.
Did I miss something here? How come you keep referring to Chadha as a she? I haven’t played Yatagarasu in forever, so I have no real idea about the character.

Chadha is some stupid fun though…

Chadha’s story is fucking insane. As is most of Yatagarasu.
Basically, she’s actually Aja Salisbury, the blonde white lady final boss. Her body got taken over by the ghost of an ancient ninja who staged a coup where she intended to use the powers of a genetically engineered ninja boy to stage a terrorist attack to kick foreigners out of Japan and reinstate Imperial rule. Chadha’s soul transmigrated into her husband’s corpse through the use of a magic mask, only she’s not aware that she’s now a giant beefcake zombie dude and still acts like a mother figure to the children in her care. So yes, Chadha is literally a woman trapped in a man’s body.
And that’s not even the weirdest part of that game’s story.
i vote for Tager as well. his concept is just too cool and to me he feels like he most represents grapplers as a whole including our tribulations and triumphs in a feeling that can be best summarized as
“when i finally get over there i swear to fucking god…”
game is fighting on a 2d plane
dont see whats the problem here
but yeah they are far and away some of the best grapplers in a fighting game history lmfao
AC Potemkin, '98 Daimon, and Waldstein from UNIEL.
3S Makoto as honorable mention. Her command grab is what truly makes her dangerous and is a fundamental part of her offense, don’t tell me she isn’t a grappler.
Though he’s certainly not the greatest grappler ever, I feel SFxT Zangief really deserves a mention. His base is pretty much SF4 Gief, which is a very solid base for a character. However, he’s helped very well by the system mechanics of SFxT. First, the boost chains means that his already amazing light attacks are easy to convert into a full combo from anywhere even without meter, and makes his whiff punishing game brutal. Switch cancels means he can also convert big from his AA game. EX Green Hand gives a ground bounce into combo on hit, so you’re even more scared of throwing fireballs against him. Wake-up roll being punishable by SPD doesn’t hurt either. And, perhaps most significantly: even though he’s got bad matches, he can circumvent them to some extent by having a good point character to bring him in.
Again, he’s certainly not the best character in the game (good luck going up against Dhalsim, Jin or Alisa with him ._.), but it’s a good example of system mechanics working in favor of the character.
Why would you need two super bars? It is relatively easy in SFEX to tick 360 and 720 off of normals. Standing light attack, into 360 or 720 can be done with ease. ARIKA even went over that in the all about SFEX VHS tape where they showed exactly that, as well as the result if they try to jump out of it and get tagged by the standing hard attack, basically resetting the situation to another tick 360/720.
