early on at nationals and worlds, it was mic and valle.

When the game was involving into its prime, it was Tom H, but JOP would go to cali, and beat him. Then JOP dominated for the rest of the time until tekken 4 came out.

The last major tekken tag tournament, Electric Cancel 3, the placings were something like

JangSu Won (korea)
JOP
Ryan Hart (UK)
Tom H
Unconkable/Insanelee

I believe that’s correct. So during that time, i’d say the top 4 us were JOP, tom h, insanelee, and unconkable. No US player could beat JOP during ttt’s prime. I think insanelee, true master ogre, and electrical steve might have all sent him to losers before but no one beat him.

After tekken 4 came out, slips started dominating tekken tag winning every single tournament including beating jop. He and unconkable were probably top 2 as no one could beat them.

uhh, im mvc1, the tiers went something like this

eddie lee,
myself,
josh wigfall

the order went something like this, i was the only person to beat eddie lee in major tourneys, (WITH THE ONLY OTHER PERSON TO EVER BEAT HIM BEING RICH FUCKING CARNAGE, lol but overall, we both agreed that me vs him was 6-4, could go either way, but he always had the slight edge since gwm duos fuck red venom hard even with the infinite in play (especially if im on 2p side, because he will pop out of infinite before I can kill him due to glitch, and that means I eat a duo/chipdamage). Josh Wigfall handled everyone in USA, except he couldnt beat Eddie due to the fact that he was a striderine player, and GWM teams -> Striderine. vs me, he went 5-5 dead even, I could never say I was better than him or that he was better than me.

Of course you know I would have something to say about this…

As an EC list, I accept that. But at ECC4, as I recall, Josh didn’t do anything… and I don’t remember any other EC tournament where WC players attended.

I think we can all agree that the B5 tourney was waaaaay after the fact and didn’t accurately represent the state of the game at the time it was current.

It’d probably be more accurate to separate MVC1 into WC and EC lists, since neither Erik nor Eddie ever left their coast to participate in a tourney.

However, that all being said… I think that clearly, the me/Viscant/Eddie dynamic was the driving factor behind Marvel games becoming established at tourneys. So among the people that mattered (no disrespect), Eddie was the best.

Well, the people who do keep up w/the tekken scene, dating back from ttt, nobody is gonna say for sure slips will rip crow a new one, that’s mighty strong words there. And SRK knows enough about tekken, well the good players, to look at a statement like “best in us for now” as a silly statement w/out proof. Crow won evo, twice. First year beating MDJ (MDJ beat Insanelee the year before). Then this year he wins w/a clean sweep. Insanelee is awesome, but in 5.0, crow won the championship twice. The people that wanted to compete for 5.0 had 2 years to do it, not just 1 event. Many tourneys were crow in either finals or he won. Don’t forget TiT last year where Jinmaster came down and got beat, by Crow in DR. Maybe in DR, nobody knows who’s the best but 5.0 is undisputed. Slips, Crow, JOP, EP, Tom, Electrical Steve, and a few others were top at TTT, but you can’t Slips will definately own Crow. As good as slips is, he got randomized by some fernando guy or somethign in the last major cali tourney. TTT was slips’s best era period, and that’s highly respectable. Well, I guess your opinion is your own I suppose

if you’re talking TTT, slips > crow, no doubt. When slips was all over that game i dont remember him losing to anyone except koreans, unconkable and maybe jop got him once i believe.

crow is the king of 5.0 :china: no disputing that.

You’re probably right. I threw his name in there because I knew he was really good but not sure what was what. From what I remember, Electrical Steve beat Jinkid and JOP quite a few times, even in their prime

TTT should come back, 5.0 sucks

To be honest, I never really liked any Tekken 5 incarnation period…I just don’t like the game engine for T5, that’s all. Anyways, I always thought that in TTT Ryan Hart was #1, or had been the most consistant during the height of TTT? I mean, he was one of the only few that I ever saw who played Mishimas and did extremely well with them, unless there was someone else in the US who was at Hart’s lvl utilizing Mishima’s but during the height of TTT if I recall, nobody in the US could use Mishima’s like Hart did.

crow was solid as fuck as you could imagine in Tag as he is in every game, but he was not winning majors.

JOP lost every now and then in winners but he always came back to win the tourny. i only remember him losing 2 tournies until tk4 came out, one atl tourny to i believe the truth and another one to a korean ogre player. in that tourny he beat ryan hart.

we’re talking best in the USA though, if youre talking the world koreans owned that game.

Okay, just for argument’s sake, take Josh out of the equasion and then it’s just me and Eddie (because Josh lost at big tourneys randomly). Do you honestly think anyone could beat me or eddie back in our prime besides Erik Perez? EC had more tourneys for this game (on a weekly basis), more players, and noone on the WC had ever beaten Eddie in his prime except for myself and a few other EC heads. IIRC top in wc for mvc1 was you, viscant, image, valle, and erik…but yeah, you’re right, we never got to play in our prime at a tourney except for he og days, ecc4. b4 didnt count since we were just playing to play (even though we squashed wc :P) and b5 which was after the game had died). i mean, viscant beat me, lost to eddie and i beat you and lost to alex, and then after that we never got to play each other in a tourney, so i guess its even

oh btw, the last ec mvc1 tourney that wc attended was at ecc5, with valle coming down, and he lost to josh wigfall
