Who else is done with eventhubs?

I joined in 2011 and i recall posting my dislike of EH only a few posts ago.

That’s the key sentence. Because the majority of the post-09’ people have a different mentality compared to how the scene used to be. EH caters to this exact mentality, which is why the older players don’t like going there, or even if they do, they at least don’t see it as something more than “the tabloid if the FGC”.

EH provide news coverage of the FGC, like any other kind of news outlet for any area of interest some might interest me, some might not.

Right now on EH front page there’s an interesting post about a stream with Tokido, Mago and Daigo playing online. That’s interesting to me, but SRK might never link that video, so I’m expanding the amount of content that I can see by reading more than one source and I don’t see how it can be a bad thing or how does that relate to the fact that I created an account on this particular forum in 2009.

Checked out eventhubs for the first time today, I had no idea eventhubs was a fighting game site.
Like, I assumed it covered all kinds of gaming events. You know…like call of duty and starcraft tournaments…and people only talked about it here because it was popular everywhere…
Now it just seems cheap and flimsy.

My main issue with Eventhubs right now is the recent surge in click-bait articles and Catalyst throwing the blame everywhere else but himself on why his website is failing. How is Shoryuken able to run LONGER without the need of pay walls or click bait articles, yet Eventhubs barely lasted half the time shoryuken has and it needs those things??? Stop throwing the blame on “ad blocker” and figure out what the hell the real problem is.

Edit: You want to know how bad his excuses are? Everytime somebody calls him out on the click bait articles, he links people to another article explaining why Cosplay and click bait articles are needed to sustain a website these days. And his most used excuse is “Do you run a website? If you do give me a better idea how to run this website and i’ll listen”

You also complain if TO’s break even? Shoryuken is a forum first and foremost. It gets user by the community content provided. SRK news is such a small portion and gets so view clicks in comparison to the forum portion. EH is a news site and nothing more. It’s “work” and it pays for itself with ads. I don’t see what’s bad with a site that lives through ADs to try to get rid of adblock. For sites I like and visit frequently I will gladly disable it.

Still have to wade through incredible amounts of horseshit, but still. Their front page is more active than SRKs by a long shot. Quality, not so much, but SRK is sometimes days behind things.

Although this is true… do you really need FGC news as fast as possible? let me help you, Max nor Gootecks will ever put our anything interesting. You can wait an hour for the actual news about new games and such to show up elsewhere. Don’t reward Eventhubs for not fact checking.

I dont think thats true. We all play fighters we just don’t like talking about them. After playing FG’s for 10+ years there’s not a lot to talk about.
