Horwang (or however the fuck you say that name) seems like one of the better characters in this game. So I wouldn’t just pick up my team because I made a video.
I will have more videos. Convert more people to team Ve. (Yes I’m feeling cocky right now).
Now I see why you would make the switch. I’m not familiar with any Tekken character other than Xiaoyou and even then I’m not above decent with her, so having Asuka on my team is like learning a complete new character. She seems to be pretty bulky, which is what I like, but I can’t capitalize on the tag in and outs. Maybe I should learn respective combos from both sides then try to make tag combos?
Edit: @FlyingVe I’m converted! lol Hwoarang is definitely good in this game, but… if I don’t find a character to match up soon I’ll be stuck like I was in SF4 with no character to play seriously. lol I like Julia too, but I don’t know how she would fair with Juri. She’s the only female with 1000HP though; come on! Hwoarang (How-wrong is how you pronounce it) is a character I like too though, but two TKD fighters? Hm… and his command dash is awesome as hell! You’re making me wanna switch again dammit!
@FlyingVe: It is Hwoarang (pronounced “How Wrong” lol). Anyway, it doesn’t come down to the video, although it was damn cool.
I have only enjoyed 3 (4 sorta, because of Lili) characters on the Tekken side. King isn’t a good partner for Juri. Both Hwoarang and Asuka are good partners. I’m simply finding Asuka easier to control with my knowledge of the system so far. When I first picked up AE, I couldn’t play Cody. He ended up being my second main. All in time. Hwoarang does more damage for a lot less work from what I’ve done so far. So we will see.
King is solid. Kinda like abel, but where abel is good on point, King seems best second.
However, one of the big strengths of Juri/Asuka is the ability to tag combo off a midscreen pinwheel. Kazyua and Jin can probably do it to (for big results) using the wavedash.
The way I see it is, Horwanog has some really good footies and an okay mixup, but his oki game kind of sucks. Very safe though.
With Asuka I’m in a really good spot to make some hurt post tag. The big weakness with Asuka is that her mixup options aren’t the safest in the world (but not as unsafe as some people think), but the reward for landing them post tag is usually round over.
Asuka is basically Dudley with a command grab… yeah.
Good stuff with that Juri/Asuka video, FlyingVe. I’m thrilled that this actually seems like a viable team. I was worried I’d have to eventually drop Asuka for someone like Kazuya or Hugo to remain competitive.
Like I said, I’ve got some more stuff, but I’m kinda waiting on my guide for frame data. Also need to test strings to see where/if they can be DP’d.
Asuka’s footsies are crap, so I built my team so I wouldn’t have to deal with that and can just focus on Asuka’s strengths.
Unrelated, but Asuka and Julia kinda play like Male characters, not female ones. I know thats a weird statement, but it bizarre to be playing female characters with these big beefy hits and tank like approach to gameplay.
Also, I wouldn’t worry too much about Hugo. I’m pretty confident that he’s not as good as he seems right now and that Zangief is the better pure grappler.
I’m running Ibuki/Asuka just love Ibuki to much to ever not play her thou having some trouble getting in when I play with some friends, still haven’t had that much time in the lab but stuff is coming together very nice so far
^Same here, I’m conflicted who I want as a point character, Ibuki or Asuka.
I’m thinking of running Asuka as point and slowly play the mid range game with her until I can capitalize on it and tag Ibuki in for ground bounce combos and ect. Ibuki has lost a lot of her tools for getting in and has been classified as a pressure secondary character waiting to be tagged in so they’re already in. Ibuki has worse wake-up options than what she had in SSFIV so even more reason to have Asuka as point.
I’m currently playing my team based on characters I like, Ibuki’s been my favorite characters since SFIII and Asuka really has caught my attention since she was revealed in earlier Tekken games.
I have Ibuki on point now not 100% sure I might switch it up once I start playing a bit more. But Ibuki so far is working pretty well but with the combos I’m getting off seems like tagging into Ibuki does more. I’m still working it out.
Ive been using kazuya/asuka. Talk about a team with damage potential. I have noticed that i need most of the bar building gems though to really take advantage of it.
Well i guess I was meant to run Juri/asuka for awhile. Been a Juri loyalist since Super so I kind of wanted to drop her and play another character in this game and try someone new but with learning to adjust to this game I don’t have much training mode time so, Juri is serving the purpose of being like my training wheels so to speak being I’m already super familiar with her (although it will take some adjustment to get used to all the buffs and different things she has in this game like the fact cr. Forward is super good now). i like asuka and eventually still will drop Juri for someone else…but so far so good
Currently I’m going to try and play around with Asuka today to get a better feel for her along with Xiaoyu. I wonder if these two have some good synergy; I’ve only seen one video of someone using them pretty well.
I’ve got Akuma in the front to build meter and then when I feel like it I thrown in Asuka, combo potential is awesome and that cross assault art is very damaging in my opinion, not the best but good enough.
