Who do you use with Asuka? Do you use her first or second?

To be fair, I foolishly stuck with Juri the moment I started playing SSFIV. Character loyalty and all that. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, I think Rolento may wind up being another good character to pair with Asuka, but I haven’t had a whole lot of time to mess with him yet.

Definitely wasn’t expecting Juri/Asuka to be such a theme! Hopefully this is as good a pair as we think and a good support community comes out of it.

I’m using Chun-Li and Asuka.

I’m using Poison/Asuka atm, something just seems to click between the 2.

Since we’re all playing the same team, does anyone know if Asuka can combo after a tag off of Juri’s pinwheel? The darn thing launches them clear across the stage.

There’s actually an amazing video one of the members posted up consisting of Juru/Asuka Team Stnergy. It’s amazing and made me pick up Asuka as a partner for Juri. I’ve already learned a new corner combo for Juri just from watching the video and knowing what her normals look like. Constantly reading and studying the game is starting to pay off . I think the video made it to the front page as well.

Funnily enough I was also planning on using Asuka/Juri, but I ended up wanting to try out Jin since I already sort of know Juri from SF4. So I haven’t even tried Juri in this game yet. Whenever I do, I’ll have to fight it out between those two for partners, I think they both fit Asuka well.

I think you really want someone who can get Asuka up in the opponents grill. I’m not sure how great Jin is for that so far, but I’m pretty sure you want Asuka second.

I’ve been running Asuka/Julia, trying to swap orders every now and again, but if you wanna go for flash, run Asuka first, Julia can get crazy bar off a tag in. For damage and positioning, Asuka in the back works wonders as Julia has a way easier time getting in.

Julia/Asuka because I use them in Tekken.

This isn’t about asuka… but could one of you talk about Julia a little?

I was messing with her the other day because she looked like she mimicked Yun/Yang (my favorite characters in mainstream SF), but I couldn’t really figure it out.

Julia is a pretty safe character. As in a lot of her normals and chains are 0 or + on block.

I’m not sure if my team is any use.

Asuka/Lili, I use Asuka as a battery for Lili but I need to force myself in with Asuka without tags, tag cancels etc. I might put meterless Lili on point over Asuka but I’m not sure.

What do you guys think?

I’m trying the same team at the moment. I started with Asuka on point but with all of the runaway I’ve been dealing with, I switched Lili to point. It helps Asuka get in since she has slightly better tools for doing so and getting around projectiles. Still sort of on the fence though. I’m considering trying out others on the cast still.

I’ll be honest, I find Lili’s approach to be really bad too. Hell, her divekicks are just awful, and she doesn’t have great normals either.

Well, I think Asuka’s ability as the first character in is being underrepresented. But the main reason I have Asuka first right now is because I’m a lot better with her, since I practiced her first.

I played some with Jin first today and did better with him than before. The combination of orbs and command dash are good for getting to close range, and he has heavy frame advantage on his normals and a strong tag special in Median Line Destruction. But the big thing is that he pretty much literally never uses meter except for damage, so I can just sub in Asuka for that purpose instead.

The problem I have with using Asuka second is if my first character gets hurt too much, I don’t get to use her as effectively as I should (and she might take free damage tagging in.) Jin is I guess a control freak, he’s pretty good at setting the pace, but if he falls behind, his defensive options are very risky (power stance/mental alertness.) In comparison, Asuka’s defense is quite reliable.

They are actually a very solid team. I’ve been running Juri/Hwoarang, but I’m thinking Juri/Asuka might be a much stronger team.

Agreed on that last point. Asuka has one of the best defensive games of the Tekken characters. It’s also part of why I like her second. Lift Kicks into Tag is a very easy way to get your other character in.

Well what exactly makes them such a solid team and why are you thinking of switching? I’ve been in the Hwoarand forums and apparently Juri is a great partner for him. I’m still looking for my first main team, but after the video Ve made I’ve been trying to work my fingers into Juri/Asuka all day.

Asuka can capitalize in Juri’s tag ins and visa-versa better than Hwoarang/Juri (or at least, I have an easier time executing it). Juri is a meter machine, so she needs a partner who can make good use of it. Juri doesn’t need meter to do big damage. Just a stored fireball or an anti-air. Hwoarang makes good use of meter too. For me, it comes down to me having a better handle on Asuka over a much shorter time than Hwoarang. I think she is a bit more natural for my play style.

Either way, I’ll probably run both teams to be honest. But maybe make Juri/Asuka my main team.
