I wouldn’t quite say honorary (unless they’re a jackass, of course), but as a part of the shame that you’re taught for being white, you go a little above and beyond trying to learn about another culture… to the point where we actually might know more about that culture than the people that we’re learning for. This is the equivalent of teaching vs. doing though, and like everything else white people do (except for being uncomfortably friendly), I am sorry for any confusion this might have caused.

Mr grandfather would add an O to English words to make them sound Spanish, but he was just being a dick and knew it. Never heard someone do it to English words in order to sound more…English…
