It won’t get any more coverage than it already has because justice was served. They people responsible were arrested and most likely will be charged.
That is what a lot of people don’t get. Coincidently, it seems like if a crime is committed against a white person, justice is served immediately. It doesn’t matter how inconclusive the evidence is. Coincidently, it’s the opposite for black folk. The only black person that got away with murdering someone white was OJ Simpson
As far as Al goes, yeah he does seem like an opportunist at times, but to his credit he only shows up when he believes justice wasn’t served. And unfortunately black people usually don’t get the fair end of the stick when it comes to the law. Sometimes it blows up in Al’s face (Duke rape case).
I don’t have a chip on my shoulder. I went to a prestigious high school, graduated from college and am now in law school. Besides being black I’m not in the demographic your blatantly stupid comments have targeted. You don’t have to commit a crime to be ignorant, but I bet the people in the video talk and spell like they dropped out of school in 3rd grade, too. You act as though a few decades removed from actually acquiring “equal rights” should be enough time to undo the disenfranchisement of blacks, which will take much more than just “getting a job” or “buying a belt and go get some” (get some what?). Take a class in sociology (I wouldn’t recommend you trying to read up on it on your own, I don’t want you to hurt yourself) and you may understand why.

Well, I guess seeing as how they committed the crime, filmed it (with audio, in case someone needed voice ID on them and the victim), put it online, and bragged to who knows how many of their friends, I would expect the cops to have it wrapped up quickly. Yeah, no, not really. I live in a town in Iowa that is 86% white. 90% of violent crime (not counting domestic abuse cases) in our community is committed by black people. In college I managed a convenience store. I had to call the cops maybe six times, and only once because of the actions of a white person.
I’l give everyone a shot in life, and I offer friendship to whoever wants it. At the same time, I watch young black men a lot closer than I watch white ones just due to my personal experience. Does that make me a bigot? Maybe. If so, I’m ok with being a bigot.
The truth is that most black people are exactly the same – they’re going to be a lot more worried about a young black man than other people of other races too. They aren’t blind to what goes on. It’s only not called racism in their case because they’re of the same race.
How do I clearly have a chip on my shoulder? Because I’m aware of the causes of socioeconomic disparities and don’t just write them off because of my ignorance?
Japan is its own nation and it certainly didn’t do all the rebuilding on its own. There wasn’t a system in place that oppressed the Japanese for decades limiting their exposure to certain levels of education as well as occupational opportunities. Recovering from war is not the same as recovering from centuries of oppression, especially when the war torn nation was previously a prosperous one…
And for the record, by your logic the Middle East should be on the road to being a prosperous nation right now. I mean they had a couple decades to recover. They weren’t nuked so in comparison to Japan it certainly shouldn’t take long for them to get on their feet. Not every area is at war right now, but yet the majority are impoverished. Why should they be so angry at the US? They need to get that chip off their shoulder. Africa should be self-sustaining as well. We haven’t been raping them of their people and natural resources for some time now.

I am a black male and I live in the middle of bubbaTown, Tn. A few miles away is a high crime section of town notorious for its heavy meth-related activities.
Over the past three years I have had to physically confront various tweakers trespassing on my property and trying to break in and I came very close to shooting one when they pulled a knife on me.
All these tweakers were white.
Over time I’ve learned to always keep my eye on most of the people in my area because of this. Of course being one of only a handful of black people (seriously, there’s like 20 of us lol) in a predominately white rural town where confederate flags wave freely adds to this diligence.
Most of the folks around here are nice enough (to my face), but I don’t let my guard down. Is that unfair to the truly decent people? Sure, but hurt feelings aren’t really a concern to me when it comes to my own personal well being.

Why can he not be where he wants to be? Yes he is drunk, but thats the only thing downtown Baltimore has a night. Strip clubs, and regular clubs/bars. Just because he is a drunken white guy in baltimore is not a reasonable answer to why it happened. And to all the people comparing this to Travon Martin is not even comparable. I live in downtown Baltimore. I seriously blame the lack of good parenting, and the lack of good role models. Rap music, the club scene, and not a single parent that works hard or gives a shit. How can you blame their actions, if they were never taught right from wrong? Even though I have never experienced white racism, probably because I am white. However black racism towards whites I know for a fact comes from very poor parenting, and household situation.
Even in my presence the parents tell the kids how the white man brings them down. Fuck, its even on 92Q(our radio station) how whites hold down blacks, they joke about it. Its fucking crazy. I guess I can see why its inexcusable to some people, but seriously get some friends from downtown, and see what they have to live everyday. No true love in hardly any household, and NO good role models. 99% of parents are a joke, so they all look up to JZ, Jeezy, and WakaFlocka and some shit like that. I know that sounds like a joke, but its not. We all need to help each other, and try to be in each others shoes once in a while. Maybe its not a excuse but you will no doubt have a different understanding.

Its hard to accept that just because of your race you have more advantages, and that blacks really do have to work harder. Its something you dont want to hear, but members of a profession who’s job is to observe such phenomena have already proven this factual. And guess what? The demographics of the profession show that most members are white. Open your eyes.
I disagree 100%. Obviously there will be cases where you may be correct. However, my entire life I have gotten a lot of shit for being white. Never in all my life did I have a advantage for being white. Going to a school where white are the minority, I got in trouble a lot more then other peers who did the same things.
There is no list of things that I get that blacks don’t. Is it wrong that people racially profile people? Absolutely, but it happens to me and I am white. So whites are not this untouchable race some people seem to think they are. I had to work just as hard as anyone else.
I’m just going to answer this with a simple: “Nothing in life is absolute.” The facts of these sociological studies address cultural norms and trends. Not every white person is going to live a life ripe with opportunity just like not every black person is going to come from an impoverished, struggling background. HOWEVER, that does not negate what is evident in a majority of cases. You allegedly being different from the norm does not disprove fact findings of years of studies any more than me graduating from high school and college does.
I can only speak from my experience. I don’t want no hand out? or whatever it is that one guy said. I have never seen, not one time where white people had a “advantage” or have to work less hard then over anyone else. Seriously, not even a single time. Im not trying to be funny, or be a troll just so you all understand. I do not believe black people have it harder then anyone else. I really don’t.

Maybe I am not looking in the right places, I don’t know. But in MY PERSONAL experience in my life, I have never seen it.
I have not personally seen Mexican gangsters kidnap people for ransom, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. I haven’t seen anyone cross the border illegally, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. I have not seen KKK members and neo-nazis, that doesn’t mean they don’t still exist. There are little things that you’d never even think of that play a factor along with social prejudices and institutionalized oppression. The mere fact that people like you who “refuse to believe” it is still an issue or believe that it boils down to “black people are lazy/immoral/look for handouts/etc.” is a significant part of the problem. You can’t fix a problem when a significant portion of the population refuses to acknowledge that there is one and negligently refuse to educate themselves.
Ok I can agree with you that the problem won’t be fixed until the uneducated are taught. Maybe I am one of the uneducated because I have never seen it personally. But if you want me to be honest almost every black person I know holds hate, and resentment towards me, and white people in general. WTF did I do? Please be white and live in the city. Try to make friends, and be normal. See how well that goes. It happens from both ends man, so I dunno what to say. All I can do is be nice, and treat everyone equal no matter if they deserve it, or not.
