I find it hilarious that despite some relatively big changes (Dash being 6 frames faster? Dayum) - this section is quite dead.
I like the changes a lot.
• Command change - Backflip command changed from KK to KKK
THANK YOU. Now I can plink with kicks and more consistently get EX moves.
• Close MP - Damage increased from 60 to 70
Poison will now get better damage from post-tag and post-EX WOL juggles. Woot.
• cr. HP - Startup decreased from 9 to 7 frames / Frames reduced by 8 (±0 on hit, -6 on block)
This is a good one. Easier anti-airing will be nice.
• Elbow Drop - Start up increased from 17 to 21 frames. / Active frame on attack reduced from 6 to 5 frames / Frames reduced by 6 (-1 on hit, -5 on block)
Her overhead sucked before. This is much better advantage, despite it being slower.
The changes are fine since the whole system is getting changed around…im messing around with the motivation/Resolution Gems…oh god are they broken…anyways I think the best thing she got besides her backflip notation being changed for better p-linking is her Cr. :hp: being a few frames faster.
P.S. anyone who likes meter gems…if I get Resolution/Motivation mix up…i’ll edit it later but you’ll get the gist of it.
-Motivation+Onslaught is broken meter gain as +400 C.Gauge means you get 1 bar or more, it stacks the effect of onslaught which boost meter gain by a % which means your going to have some really stupid meter gain on your hands if you get them to activate simultaneously.
-Resolution is also pretty much the best meter Gem in the whole game as you get a fixed amount of meter and it has no duration meaning it’s instant…you can literally do combos that were not possible with this gem and if you get it to activate during a combo and it’s +400 C.Gauge…that means +1 Bar during your combo or whatever… essentially this gem will be overused when people figure out how to abuse it…
Well as I said in the Posion 2013 changes thread; I feel like Capcom put a big emphasis on Posion being a meter gaining whore now that she gains so much meter for using WOL to end combos. I feel that she needed some more changes but the changes she got seem acceptable.
Also, the throw buffs really help out Poison as she already had a really solid throw game and fast upclose normals and blockstrings to keep her at advantage.
Also roll nerfs will help her a lot with her corner game, since she has a lethal lockdown with hp fireball in the corner and it’ll help with her zoning as well ofc.
She’ll be fine in 2013, system change benefits her a lot.
^I hope so because my favorite charaters always tend to be low/mid tier
I never dropped Poison, the character love is too strong.

So I’m officially on the Poison train, been using her as a fun alt for a while now.
Despite needing to get my mains to a better place, I can’t help using her too <3

Poison is pretty fun to use despite needing to fight for every inch of damage~ oh ya and Marry Christmas to everyone!
Definitely sticking with Poison. Seems like she is going to be even better at what she already does well - meter building. Therefore, Poison x Ogre is going to be one of my main teams again.
Links I personally Like that team when you use alot of meter gems because it gives Ogre so much damage potential and some what better ways to get out…however with the overall DP to Tag Cancel nerf and no Gems at Evo nonsense…im kinda skeptical but I still like the team, tho I prefer using Jin.
I want to use Guy to back her up in the up and coming update tho…So that other flavor of Final Fight isnt so bad~ haha
Agreed, Ogre’s uses for meter are now more limited, but at least we will be able to get a lot of damage using tag cancels, as always. I also like the idea of landing a combo with Ogre, tag canceling back to Poison, and then sitting on my life lead if applicable OR tagging back to Ogre again if needed. It’s the simplest thing, but it works much better when you have a solid, dedicated meter building character in Poison.
Guy would work well in the back, I think. Jin will be godlike post-patch though, so it’s a matter of preference. Personally, I would pick Jin due to his higher overall damage output.
So this game is on the roster for EVO 2013, and just recently went on a small win streak with homegirl here. I guess that means I’m back.
I’m used to running Poison/Hugo, but given Hugo’s upcoming date with ye olde nerfbat, I’d say it’s time to branch out a bit and find a potential new partner. I’ve started toying around with Law a bit to a bit of success so far, and I plan on giving Jin a second look when the patch comes out. Are there any other partners that would seem to work as well? Is Hugo even still viable? What is the current “State of the Poison”?
Poison’s a great point character so she’ll naturally make a good team with any anchor character, although it’s bonus points if the anchor character is able to combo off her DP consistently, I think Lili is one of the best partners for Poison as Lili requires meter to run her game and Poison builds that meter up pretty fast (even more so with 3/4/5 special meter gems, her rekka counts as 3 specials and you’ll hit some fireballs as well) and Lili can combo off Poison’s dp pretty consistently with f+mk.
Poison I think is fine in 2013, dash nerf sucks but throwable rolls is nice and red life going on throws is good for Poison as she has an excellent throw game, Poison’s zoning became stronger because of throwable rolls as they won’t just roll up after being hit by a fireball. Dash nerf again, it sucks because she might lose her cl.hp cadc cl.hp combo after launcher, her corner damage went up though with cl.mp damage being buffed. Cr.hp being faster is nice, more reliable AA.
Idk much about Hugo, he seems to be really bad in 2013.
Poison does pretty well with Juri. I honestly think she’s one of her strongest partners. Both of them don’t get nerfed too much come 2013 so they should still have great synergy.
If I can add my two cents, I think Poison/Christie work rather nicely with each other. Poison can deal with zoners and grapplers, which helps Christie out a lot. Poison’s launcher sends characters up high enough for Christie’s F.HK-HK tekken string to hit. You can raw launcher after the wallbounce, and put Poison right back on top of the opponent to start up her pressure.
I sort of think that this help her damage woes in a way. Just as an example, Poison’s C.Mk-Far.Hp boost chain into Christie’s F.HK-HK, Raw Launch does around 320ish, and put Poison in a really good position. Christie can also give Poison free raw tags when ending juggle combos with double arm stinger, and M.Wheel Kicks is another nice way to get Poison in.
I agree, they seem to work well together. You’ll never be low on meter, thats for sure.

I also tried out Poison/Christie and yea they have some good synergy. Actually Poison works well with both Capos due to both benefiting off launcher combos. (and elena has ways to get poison in safely with or without meter.)
Poison’s just that versatile. Go fig. (though nothing we all don’t know already)
Finally, PS3 owners get to experience the joys of mid hitting standing MP!
And, LP.
So how is poison looking in 2013?
