I started using grab after a blocked LMT, seems to work pretty sweet. Using neutral jump attack or grab after a blocked LMT makes it much more intimidating.
It only works because people are too stupid not to backdash…you can seriously backdash on reaction to you blocking LMT and there isn’t shit Poison can do, jabs, throws, Sweeps are your only option against it…so it’s them not knowing the match up(or defensive options)…not it being a good tactic.
LMT only gives you +3 at best, if your not following up with cl./cr. :lp: then your wasting your time because crouch tech beats normal throws and backdash beats all her options except sweep(have not tested vs all sweeps), and mashing 2-4 frame invulnerable specials beat this too…so SRK, EX SPD, etc beats her LMT frametrap/mixups if they chose to react to it. You can abuse this against characters with shitty reversal options like Rolento…
Edit: I think it’s time for that match up/strategy thread…
Edit part 2: after LMT you want to make OS then to just flat out get beat. if you Sweep(CADC) you cover backdash and you retain momentum if they just block…mashing still wins though.
On block Poison has no options to beat mashing command grabs and DP’s except for light and medium KBG, backdash also works. The reason why KBG works is because SRK’s invulnerability runs out by the time it hits…however this tactic is only good against mashers i would avoid using this unless you trained them to mash…Ryu’s EX SRK still flies by for free though for another example…
i found a nice corner setup if the opponent likes to tech roll…
after your 3WoL series in the corner, backdash twice… if you see the tech roll you can forward dash and end up on the other side
if not, continue to add pressure!
(works well on people who like to DP tag cancel on wakeup, you often get a CH)
Forgive me if this has already been posted, i havent been on these forums in a while
i realize this is late, but cs.lp whiffs on crouching opponents
I mentioned this in the SFxTK GD already but im going to try and get my hands on the Arcadia Hitbox data and this will be the first character i’ll be doing to uploads for…
Your welcome…
So it’s been about a month since any Poison discussion. Does she still have any use as a character, or is virtually every aspect of her game done better by someone else? I really enjoy her style and it is one of the few that fits naturally with my brain, but I feel a Shoto or Sagat does her job infinitely better.
it is more like she isn;t played plus this game is going downhill unfortunately. New characters now.
This wasn’t in the last few pages, so forgive me if it was said a while ago, there’s a lot of posts in this topic:
Poison’s HP fireball is really great for pressure in the corner. If they have their back to the wall you can stand at just about max far standing MP range and pressure them with st.MPxxqcfHP thanks to the former’s virtual lack of pushback. It’s a very solid tool if you find yourself in that situation, since you can do it at such a range most characters will have serious problems breaking it and you can do all sorts of other moves after the fireball to vary the pressure like LMT.
Probably also mentioned somewhere, but one can make her overhead a great deal safer depending on one’s timing. The -6 on hit assumes you are hitting it on the first active frame, but if you can manage to make it hit on its last active frame instead, it becomes a ±0. Nothing amazing, but it makes the move better to consider to psych opponents out of crouch turtling.
Pretty much this, at the moment. I can only speak for myself, but it seems like we are drowning in a sea of fighting alternatives these days, and SFxT doesn’t seem to be providing much that other games don’t. Add in the gems, eyesore color swaps, and only half the roster being viable and you have a big giant mess on your hands.
I keep hearing that a re-balance patch will come with the new characters. I’m focusing on Marvel and MK at the moment, but I will say that if a re-balance comes and Poison gets appropriately buffed and viable, you will definitely see me around these parts again.
Was anyone aware Posion can be thrown out of her DP?
Like on startup? I guess the mk and hk have 8 and 12 frame startups respectively, so it makes sense.

According to the guide, they are only strike invincible, not throw, I haven’t tested this myself though.
they have to be already in the throw starup to land it(for generic throws)…unless it’s a SPD…and yeah it’s usually the punish for DP happy Poison players…EX is still invulnerable to everything tho…
Wow this thread is dead… Anyway I’ll contribute to the community anyhow. What I have NOT been seeing is the fact that poison can do some mixups after an aa crhp, cl hk, or st mp by canceling the hp or mp version of aelous for 50/50 mixups.
well…on normal hit AA Cr. :hp: or far :mp: you could Aeolus Edge…or you can LMT…and force them to block it and be on frame advantage…unless they want to eat a small combo or untech knockdown…either or really…the 50/50 is nice too~
hmm i forgot about lmt thx for the info. And to make the aeolus more ambiguous you can charge it a little bit to fool em
indeed you can~ but the reason the the thread is dead…more or less is because there isnt any real hidden tech with Poison tbh…shes mostly explored…but that isn’t really a excuse is it? but honestly there isn’t much new with her out side of crazy loop corner combos or tag cancels off her KBG and even those are not too special…im sure the Cody wall carry is common knowledge now…and general stuff what you should use to juggle with and stuff so ya…
Honestly if I had rec. equipment I would do vids explaining this stuff…
I just hope Poison became popular enough to make appearances in future SF games, just like Juri. First time I find a character that just clicks with me - game’s unsuccessful. Figures ;D
What do you guys think, does she have a chance? To become a proper, regular Street Fighter?
Maybe who knows but she’s most likely in tekkenxsf.
