I would not worry about this. Just because they are similar, doesn’t mean they are identical. Here’s some example:
Fei Long Rekkas: 3 hits, with a QCF+P motion for each.
Poison Rekkas: QCF+P for first / second hits, just hit P again for the final. When I got kinda mashy, I would hit P twice and two hits would come out. It feels very different than Fei’s, and it really threw me off.
Fei’s Chickenwing: Multihit kicks
Poison’s LMT: Single hit kick with a follow-up (that I kept forgetting to do). EX version supposedly tracks the opponent (didn’t test this myself).
Sakura’s Hadoken: Fireballs with varying sized hitboxes and ranges. Some are able to be charged.
Poison’s Aeolus Edge: Fireballs with varying sized hitboxes and ranges. No charging, but seem to come out faster and felt a bit less clunky to use.
Ryu’s Shoryuken: Single hit, usually used as an anti-air.
Poison’s KbaG: Multi-hit with a bit less height, but seemed like it had more horizontal range. I liked it.
Even if there are a few similarites to other characters, she looks and feels way too different (which is a good thing instead of shotoclone #872). Besides, Capcom saw the reaction Poison got very clearly. She draws money, hype and press, and they know it. I really couldn’t be shocked at all if Poison gets put in Street Fighter 5 after this generation runs it’s course.
it would not surprise me if shes in Harada’s game too~
was there any new gameplay notes for her in general? I want to explore what would be the best moves for her to do after you cancel a EX super charage~ im dubbing it now EX charge cancel or EXCC for future reference
As for any new notes, I don’t have much past what I already mentioned and what we already knew. If there was anything different in the NYCC build, it would probably take someone with a more educated eye than mine (or at least a friend who wasn’t trying to win a t-shirt) to catch it.
i gotcha, actually my belief is actually she didnt chance from the last build…shes really just the same and they just re-tooled the damage because her overall damage seems better, just the everyone Super Art does less damage…this is even evident in the gameplay mechanic trailer…King/Marduk Cross Art would have killed Guile if this was the same Damage figures of the TGS build…
but yeah they don’t need to change every character…every build, so i think shes going to sit like this for a good while. gives me time to gather some info and collect my notes.
Harada already Tweeted that if Poison becomes popular in SFxTK, he’ll start work on her 3D model.
With the amount of fans she has, she’s already popular.
She’s totally in TKxSF, which has me extremely excited. We’ll get to see her in better graphics with a more fleshed out moveset and Harada already confirmed Tekken 6’s customize mode, so we’ll get to dress her up too.
I can’t wait!
Wow I find myself agreeing with Janet instead of fighting with her more and more which worries me but yes TxSF will be amazing no doubt.
The Tekken team will likely have much better model for the female characters than capcom which has recently seemed like they don’t know how a real life woman is formed. I can’t wait to see all the moves and customizable items they have in that one.
On Topic: I wonder if anyone have tried Poison with Hwoarang? I keep hearing good things about him and his offensive options and I’m really curious if anyone has had any experience using them as a team.
I used Poison and Hwoarang at NYCC a few times. I can tell you that they both have pretty good range on their normal pokes, both have an AA kick, and both have an arcing attack that I failed to use properly because I didn’t have time to experiment. Now that I’m not playing the game and have had some time to read what the moves I was failing to use properly do, I’m sure they could be interesting… but most of my NYCC experience was against people mashing combos or using SF4 strategies with Ryu, Ken, and Guile. Hwoarang seemed pretty good at least at this stage of the game though.
Hwoarang is pretty awesome, i havent got to use him but with two dive kicks, he is pretty ridiculous! Thanks Jenet for that tweet update, i find myself making a few friends here~
this is however the turning point in trying to gather data. and well this is why.
fundamentally we almost broke down bases of this characters move set. We have gotten through all of her normals though we are unsure about what normals cancel into specials(whether it is linked or not). As fas special moves go, we know how they all work but we now have to figure out which are best for combo potential and punishment(as a side note, i would like to know if her DP is a reliable wakeup tool~ as this changed from build to build).
Poison’s SuperArt has gotten a damage nerf(like SuperArts of the new build) so again we are back to only using this to finish off a character if you know that it can kill, it is however really good due to the fact it is easy to combo into and to confirm it from a juggle. Her CrossArt still seems like you can still hit confirm it from a :hp: or:hk:.
the things we should be working to find out are now combos and what moves can be linked into like her normals and other combo possibilities with using EX special and Tag Cancel Combinations.
I look forward to you guys cooperation on this say…Project…err…someone think of a cool name and we’ll use it to rename the thread…sounds fun?
is that confirmed i asked about it when i was at Pax but they didnt give me a straight answer as he said " there will be some form of customization" and i though that was the Gem system…but if your Right i feel like i have something to look forward to~ lets just hope its bare bones is Decent and it can be expanded on with DLC~ thats something i’ll be willing to splurge $$$ on…but thats just me…
I already said Cody’s pressure strings would be great to go along with Poison’s balanced zoning and rushdown game. I don’t brag very often but I play a damn good Cody and will definately be putting somme setups together as soon as COdy (hopefully) gets announced.
I hope he does because those two could be the Dante and Trish of SFxT. They have a history and their playstyles compliment each other pretty well.
Not sure if this is known but one of poison alt costume SHE is a BLOND. Sweet hope that goes for majority of the girl cast to change their hair color
