Whip it, whip it good - The Poison GD Thread

I think the Chun Li quote was funny (‘punch like a man’ is a nice mirror to ‘hit like a girl’), but the Ryu one about traps seems a bit insensitive. Once you’ve got boobs as big as Poison does, its a bit beyond just trapping.

But yeah, looking forward to footage from this weekend. Hopefully they’ve got chains into specials back in, I’d feel so annoyed having a ground bouncing rekka that I can’t combo into easily.

Viper’s overall design is fine, however her SFIV model needs to go.

Yep, I like her design, would just like to see them retweak it a bit if they ever had to resuse that model again for say SFxTK:AE.

Viper’s model in mvc3 is perfect. If only they could translate that into her SF4 model.

Yes he MvC 3 design is wonderful her hips looks right and her lips aint over sized and her breast looks great. SF4 model i think look right for the female fighters are Poison they did a good job on that, Chun li is fine minus those hands, I like Cammy(minus the six pack but she is in the military so i can excuse that) and Sakura is fine, Ibuki is fine and Makoto is fine. Rose I dont like her hair it’s not to lively

Why can’t Tekken character threads be this alive

We just need to push them to be more alive. That and Poison is a new SF character

pretty much…plus alot of people been putting in effort to see the potential of Poison as some of us hopes she would actually be a decent character when this is all said and done…but i would say that about any character in this game(except those exclusives) so, its a given that Poison gets alot of love…i mean Poison is Capcom’s favorite trap~ Trapcom ftw…i want one of their shirts now…

Because Poison is a heated topic in general, on like every sight I have seen. Even sites not related to fighting games.

well gaming outlets like Kotaku, Destructoid, and, Siliconera always had featured news on fighting games, because its gaming related…SRK is slow when it comes to things non-capcom, like the balance changes to KOFXIII console…i still dont see that up…but its all over DC.

Point is…Poison is a popular character for one reason or another, and honestly to me the exposure this game has the better the ending sales figures mite be, that will help its chances in getting updates in the future…thats one thing for me…that i look forward to.

been watching Stream footage all damn day…and the recorded footage from the otherdays…Poison WoL Does Not Ground Bounce…it just knocks down…
aside from this…and it looks like supers were dubbed down and Certain moves(universally) damage was Buffed(Love me tender, kiss by a goddess) this build is identical to the TGS one…

they changed it from a ground bounce for the normal version only ex does so.

the EX one Launches tho…i just seen it…

from what people are saying the combo system is making is hard to tell if certain normals are even cancelable at all…

so shes literally back to square one…not really bad considering her damage is better but still…nothing really note worthy atm.

hopefully some positive feed back will come in, but i doubt it would be anything ground breaking.

Well, I just got back from spending the past 2 days at the New York Comic Con, raiding the Capcom booth and SFxT setups as much as possible. I also had Poison on every single team I played. Here’s some quick thoughts:

  • I was seriously loving her fireball zoning. Couple that with her pokes, and I was able to keep people out fairly effectively.
  • Poison’s backflip is pretty darn good. Seems less bouncy than the one Claw has (not that I ever played him). I could definitely get used to it.
  • It seems like some of Poison’s air normals don’t have quite the range they seem. I was doing he j.H punch and saw the edge of the animation go through the opponent and whiff. I forget the circumstance and opponent used, so it’s very possible this may be a small bug with just this one move. Even if the design was intentional, her priority still looks good.
  • I didn’t see a single Poison cosplayer, dammit. At least she won me a free t-shirt, so that’s almost a consolation. Almost.

Is Poison still about mix-ups? Or have Capcom completely changed her to a zoner now? I keep hearing conflicting reports on what she can do.

Poison still seems to have her mixups, I just tended to gravitate to her zoning game because I tend to do that in a lot of fighting games in general.

Funny, I was just thinking that it felt like Capcom just took a bunch of fun moves from preexisting characters and mashed them up into a single character they knew fans wanted. You want fireballs? Done. Rekkas? No problem. Chickenwing kicks? Sure. Backflip dodge? Fine.

I would call Poison a jack (jill?)-of-all-trades, master-of-none at this point, but everything feels so solid, you could kinda play her any number of ways. Like Seth said, at this stage in the game, Poison is whatever you want her to be.

Good as she was like that before and was just worried that they changed her. I love her being a mash up character too as long as all her moves don’t get her exuded from future games.

I can see it now “Poison has a rekka just like Fei Long so I guess she’s out.” ONO"We like Poison but she was just to similar to other characters"
Me-:annoy:

so pretty much…shes the same as older builds…in a Nut Shell…Great that makes my job alittle easier…btw King’s Giant swing got buffed in damage…so it does 20%-25% on characters now on average…

Poison’s air normals are slow, and her uppercut is a useless reversal. I seriously could not get around Chun-Li’s j.HP. That shit is still godlike. Using the LK version worked OK, but the heavy and medium versions will make Poison do her preparation animation first, similar to Yang.

She also lacked a good crossup from my testing. j.mk actually hits upward. J.LK crossed up, but I didn’t get enough time in with Poison to truly explore it.

Mr.Tim Chun’s jumping attacks seem to have some odd hitboxes in this game. Even other uppercuts miss sometimes.
Yeah i saw that her j.lk crosses up. Its better than nothing lol
