How am I out of line? And what does YDJK mean?
He has 0 idea of what hes talking about. Let him be.
You and I can go back to disagreeing about the new dive and matchups.
The active grab frames shit is so lame.
Ironically it means…“You Just Don’t Know”.
It’s similar to YGGBU
Agreed. I don’t know why people complain about it so much.
Yeah, they just need to get the timing down, no different from more current games. Everyone pretty much has 1 active grab frame.
Yes, in a world where you complain about bugged super motions (the one they fixed in the last revision? whatevs) being a downgrade from a character that has no super, I’m the one that doesn’t know what I’m talking about.
And JigglyNorris, at first I thought you were being sarcastic (because really, who is that obtuse?) but your second response to me showed your hand. Thanks for informing me that Old T.Hawk doesn’t have a super! That’s the kind of quality insight that was missing from this discussion.
Prior to your post, I just thought that “old” characters meant that they were smarter, but had worse reaction time. Oh, and they walked faster, for some reason.
But thanks for clearing that up. Now that I know that Old T.Hawk doesn’t have a super, that changes everything!
Well, granted it doesnt happen THAT often to me, it does still happen and I’ve had people jump out of tick throws before, not very often but its happened a handful of times. The best solution is to drum all 3 buttons. It shouldnt be happening in the first place, but I really shouldnt be scrubbing up the timing that bad in the first place.
T.Hawk has less active grab frames than Gief, yet Im able to J.Fierce and jump away, even if its a reversal SPD. I do agree that he could use a couple active grab frames, but its nothing mind blowingly major. You just need to sharpen your timing.
And does anyone else find it ironic that people are bitching about the easier inputs for Hawks Typhoon, yet they all want more active frames so it’ll be easier to actually land the grab?
The way I always saw it was that the easier typhoon motion was added to compensate for the whiff.
What does this even mean? You mean you can jump fierce at Zangief, the opponent blocks it, performs a reversal SPD, and you jump away to beat it and force a whiff?
I don’t know if that’s possible (or if that’s what you are going for) looking at the specific frame advantages but if T.Hawk’s jump fierce (or any other attack) puts the opponent in block stun for four frames or more than Hawk’s recovery from the normal, then a reversal throw would not work on a Hawk holding jump.
Why? Because Hawk has a three frame jump. So if you are +4 on your opponent and they try to throw on their first available frame (or reversal throw) you’ll be on the first frame of your jump and airborne and you won’t be able to be thrown. You make it sound like this is some extraordinary feat but it’s merely a situation arising from frame advantage.
Uh, no?
It was added to make the game more accessible on the whole, like sagat tiger knee, hooligan combo, chicken wing, etc.
I don’t know about the whiff sometimes. Its the logical thing to have, but…
If Hawk could link a Cr.Jab off of either of his standing jabs, that would’ve been awesome, guess alternating between his Cr.Jabs.
As for the motions, I don’t mind them at all. Im glad that there’s a little room for error now for a walk-up Typhoon, and I don’t know how people are complaining about the walk-up 720 motion. For ticking purposes the old motion is better since you can end it in down back, but walking-up sure is nice. They both have their pros and cons, which is exactly how R.Hawk functions in comparison to N.Hawk/O.Hawk (N.Hawk for me).
Im still an O.hawk advocate and always will be.
It IS really nice to be able to walk up 720. You have someone scared in the corner and you buffer the motion twice, walk up like a full second and hit punch and they see that hand and its over.
From following the old thread (before the game came out) and the blogs about character changes during development, I’m pretty sure that’s not the case. From my understanding the overall idea was to blend the best of O.Hawk and N.Hawk together and then add a few more tweaks to make him a *little *less of an all or nothing character. Here’s how I understand the changes:
-
The easier motions were added simply make the moves easier to do and to make doing a standing super possible.
-
The whiff was added to make it harder to typhoon someone in the corner 3 times in a row, since it stops you from safe-jump option-select typhoon/block.
-
The new dive was added, on the premise that it would make it easier to get close to your opponent, to compensate for having a less inescapable corner lock-down.
-
O.Hawks normals were chosen because they were better.
^^^^^ What he said.
i hate to be “that guy” but is HD Remix Turbo 2 or 3?
Because in all the other sf2 versions you could pick
minimum post length.
haha thanks!
It’s US Turbo 2 (of 3), JPN Turbo 3 (of 4).
