Whining about Fei Long and Fei Long Players thread with some Hawk mixed in

against rog, cr.strong and fp destroy his rushes except max distance low rushes. you can safe jump him easy cause of his slow headbutt and DONT get locked down.

blanka is easy cause a huge main attacking tool of his (ball) is completely taken away so he has to rely on pokes. learn to anti air his jump short and counter throw his ticks and blanka has a tough time.

rapid fire st.shorts beat hondas headbutt. i dont really use fp too much cause it seems like a huge RISK for tiny reward in an already incredibly uphill fight.

Thanks a lot, guys !!! All your tips are very helpful and new to me. I’ll practice to use those moves effectively before trying out against the pro.

One move I really like from Fei is to chicken-wing a flying opponent and flame-kick after that while he’s still in the air. I saw a lot of great Fei players doing it but can’t pull the flame kick fast enough after chicken wing…

Anyway, my nick is VietTroop in PSN if any of you interested in showing me some Fei combos…

Thanks all.

/me laughs and cries at the same time.:sad:

I need tips on how to stalk Jumpsuit’s SFHD rooms better.

i need to verify this, but you should be able to counter a blocked honda’s super with reversal-timed rekka. it seems his super leaves him closer than his headbutt.

Yes, you can flame kick honda out of his super if you block the first headbutt but it requires strict timing. It’s not as easy compared to ST but you are still able to flame kick honda out of it.

no no, i meant after his second headbutt is blocked, a reversal-timed rekka should hit. i did it last night with a mp.rekka, but it wasn’t reversal-timed and the opp wasn’t expecting it which is why it landed…

Pretty sure Fei Long is Kung Fu. He’s obviously based off of Bruce Lee whose style was Jeet Kune Do but Bruce’s style was a lot different. Jeet Kune Do uses a lot of boxing in it. Fei would look like a smaller asian Balrog when he punched

I use mostly Fei Long. My toughest matchups are against really good E. Honda and Dhalsim players.

Dhalsim because his range game can be insane - and E. Honda because of his well-roundedness. Honda’s special throw is simply a cherry on top.

Fei has a whole different set of dynamics that can be used to give even the best players headaches. I’m very happy with his rendition in HDR.

I want them to bring back the ST mk and hk chicken wing. They can leave the lk chickenwing where it is. If I had a choice between the new motion + new chicken wing and the old motion + chicken wing. I take the old motion + chicken wing any day.

Well, I think that at this point - it probably is what it’s going to be - unless they redo and release another SF itineration.

I dunno how well I’de fare with the old way, but I know SFIV’s rendition of Fei Long is terrible. He has a terrible build - both strategically and aesthetically - IMO.

His rendition in the HD Remix is tremendous in both those respects - IMO.

Ok so Geif isn’t generally considered a bad match-up for Fei since Fei can outprioritize him and all, but today I fought some Geif player on the PSN, (I think his name was TheGreatMole) who was absolutely a demon with the guy. My typical outprioritize Geif at range tactics didn’t help much and this dude could get out reversal spd’s like some sort of robot. I must be missing something here. Anyone got any strats against unusually good Geif players, not the typical or even above average guys, but the tournament quality players?

same tips vs everyone. stay at max hp range, watch for mistakes and rekka, sneak in cr.hp/mp.
if he’s good at reversals, you might be able to get away with lk.cw at some ranges. wake-up cl.hp is a no-no, instead, use cr.hp but at a distance so just the tip hits (it’s still very possible to reversal, but also likely to whiff). flame kick all jump ins, or if you’re psychic, cw then combo with flame/super.
the most important tip, NEVER run away. you need to control space, not the other way.

I don’t get it…

TheGreatMole is a member here, so he comes about his skill honestly.

(I didnt know where else to put this post…)

Sirlin taking away Fei combo after C-Wing was ok at first because Cwing actually comes out when i want it too…
So Fei is actually playable now. EDIT* on pad.
But ever since i started playing on GGPO everynight and learning the original combo, I have to say that i wish he kept it the same.
Fei needs that C-Wing trap.

And its not like its the best trap in the game, so idk why he got rid of it.
…well maybe because everyone can c-wing now.
I’m definitley in line for a second patch where C-wing is restored.

Maybe its just me, but i feel like i get more respect winning with the harder motion of c-wing.
Would anyone here object to returning Fei back into the cult exclusive he kinda is on ST?

No I definately do not want the old chicken wing motion to return, but there was absolutely no reason to get rid of his chicken wing trap when other characters get to keep their viable tools.

He was low tier to begin with and Sirlin gave him a bunch of nerfs, yet characters who are considered Mid tier got buffs without anything being taken away from them! :looney:

Should have been the end of the post.

So he needs the trap to not win? thats awesome.

This isn’t Dan, a ryu clone designed to be a joke character. Fei Long is an interesting character design inspired by a cultural icon, and you sound like you WANT him to never win, in the same game where a boxer inspired by Mike Tyson dominates.

I’m concerned for our future… but if that’s what you really want, try SF4 Fei Long, you’ll love it.

I’m starting to really hate sarcasm…
:wasted:
Sometimes i wonder whats going on in people’s lives to be sarcastic jerks in all their posts…
I honestly can’t tell if you’re saying you want Fei to never win or not.
Why don’t you stop being a internet DICK, and just answer the question.
If not just ignore the post.
