Whining about Fei Long and Fei Long Players thread with some Hawk mixed in

Short Chicken Wing Reversaled will help you escape. Reversaling the Flame Kick also might help you escape, if the Fireball is deep enough. But the Short Chicken Wing reversaled will undoubtedly get you toescape, but will probably leave you open to be swept in retaliation.

Here’s a few of Sirlin’s Fei Long matches going against Thelo’s Honda. There is more vids of his Fei Long going up against his Honda.

Sirlin does fine with Fei Long playing against other characters… EXCEPT Thelo’s Honda. After those matches does he still think giving all the chicken wings extra recovery frames was a great idea?

It’s not like the matches were close either. He got wrecked. He ended up having to counterpick against Thelo’s Honda, THEN he started to beat him.

All I need for Fei is to remove the recovery frames from low and mid chickenwings, return his old chickenwing properties for mid and high chickenwings and I’ll be in heaven.

Hell, can anyone explain to me the reason to nerf a character who was already low tier?!?!

M. Bison (Dic)'s standing roundhouse has been giving me trouble, any tips?

if you know if the bison spams it block the first one and flame kick the 2nd. if its random stay hk chicken wing range and proceed to rape when up close with tick throws.

There’s something kinda poetic about Sirlin’s Fei having to go against Thelo’s Honda and receiving a taste of his own medicine, but Thelo’s Honda is fierce.

More like justice.

That really won’t do much to fix the match up because honda’s headbutt beats chicken wing anyways. There’s just no safe way to get damage on honda without taking a lot of risks.

The thing is if I can connect chicken wing, then I won’t have to worry about Honda getting a free Ochio throw afterwards. I could at least get in. That at least gives me one option.

Wrong, if in range you are getting oichoed.

Anyway here’s random shit.

  1. Meaty s.fp/c.fp, sweep (2-hit)
  2. f+rh, sweep (2-hit)
  3. s.lp, s.lp, c.lp xx super (8-hit)
  4. meaty c.mk, s.fp xx rekka x3 (5-hit)
  5. meaty c.fp, c.fp (high dizzy rate)
  6. meaty c.fp, rekka x3
  7. meaty s.fp, walk up s.fp xx rekka x3

Vs fatties (usually crouching iirc):

  1. cross up mk, s.mp (or s.mk), c.lp xx super
  2. cross up mk, s.mp (or s.mk), s.fp xx rekka x3
  3. s.mp, c.lk xx lk flame kick

Mix-up:

  1. Meaty s.fp
    a. walk up throw
    b. walk up MAX range lp dp
    c. sweep/c.fp
    d. walk back, punish any whiff with rekka x3
    e. stand there, walk up punish whif with a throw
    f. wait split sec, super

Rekka shit:

Know the ranges is the most important thing about these, also they are the best whiff punishers. I almost always time my rekkas to be right outside sweep/mk range. Ill sometimes to one, or two, very rarely three. Always keep them guessing. If they are mashing moves, delayed rekka will punish them, you can even super late rekka to whiff punish (if they was mashing sweep during your rekka string, you pause at second, they sweep, finih with fp to knock them down). Some people will try to fireball, I usually take note, then next rekka string I’ll stop then lk CW to tag their hands or super. Once they are hesistant of rekka punish you can pause rekkas, walk up through etc.

I alway use these to punish, and in Vanilla St I would destry Ken’s dp spammers when they whiffed.
Lk flame kick:

Know the range of this from max distance. I walk up and MAX range flame kick and hits Chuns, Ryu’s, Honda’s, etc out of fireballs/headbutts alot. If they block it you are safe unless its rog/Bison/blanka with a charge or sim. Most people will walk up or attack to try to punish and get supered/dp’d.

Just my 2 cents, from the Fei Long you never heard of lol. I learned from the best (points at Jumpsuit).

I hope this helped.

Is this assuming even after the recovery frames were removed? Because that’s what I’m refering to. I’ve seen players able to combo after chickenwing in ST.

Fei’s Flying Kick vs grapplers is the same as Blanka’s Roll vs Fei = free punishment every time.

It’s still high risk and if you mess up, you’re back where you started. Fei loses this match in ST same as he does in HDR.

I’ll clarify my question.

Was Honda or Zangief able to punish Chickenwing with 360/ochio throw on hit or block in ST?

Yeah I agree it’s still high risk. In ST turbo, it seemed to be his only option to do high combo damage.

There was a tourney vid which I think was posted in this thread where the Fei player could not get in at all. I think he was able to make a comeback because he comboed Roundhouse CW into Jab, Rekka x3. That took alot of life.

Now Fei long has nothing to gain from anymore. He loses even worse now.

Yes, at certain ranges fei can still get ochioed/spd, while it’s not punishable as HD remix, it is still punishable.

It’s punishable, but nowhere near as easy to punish as Remix. The added recovery really kills Fei’s lockdown game. Sirlin should have left the recovery of Roundhouse and/or Forward Flying Kick the same, and only nerfed the Short as it’s the only one that evades projectiles. They should have ADDED to his lockdown game, not taken away from it.

CW was safe in ST, you had + frames, there fore you could do all sorts of nasty lockdown with it vs some characters. In HDR, Sirlin made it where you could not combo after it (minus it done in non-common cases), leaving you at a distadvantage. If in range, reversal grabs grab Fei, for free.

Being grabbed for free is bad enough for Fielong also CW and avoiding fb’s at full screen is ok but again it can be punished by a low sweep at closer ranges. Sirlin made his changes to Fielong cancel each other, resulting in a worst Fielong. IMO CW should have knocked down or pushed Fielong away, no changes to Rekka’s or Flame kicks except easier execution.

Shouldn’t you be able to LK DP on the reversal frame of landing from the CW to avoid getting 360’d/Oicho’d?

Yes, you can flame kick right after landing from the rekka kick but they can just block it and spd when you’re coming back down or knock you down into tick spd mixups.
