Which partner best Suits Juri: Combos and character order

I’m actually working with Juri/Ibuki. Always wanted to play Ibuki but just couldn’t really “get” her in 3s or SSF4. Right now I’m enjoying her though, she and Juri do some good damage together it seems.

I’ve still got a long way to go though, working on getting her BnBs down.

Man I played that very team recently. They hit super hard lol. I hate Cammy so much… Sometimes it looks like she is out of range and can’t hit you but still manages to get a link into manual Launcher and you lose 50% of your life. They indeed seem like a very powerful team.

I wish Yoshimitsu’s shoryuken Sword had 4-5 frame start up instead of 9 (lol :frowning: ). Even the EX version is 6 startup I think which is fast enough to AA but still costs a bar.

I decided to try Juri/Rufus Team Dive kick. Now my training people make me train even harder because they hate Rufus. XD

X Arts: Always a good idea to have Chun Li lead most Cross Arts as you’ll likely see the most damage potential.

With all that out of the way I’m typically using 1 Bar in most combos whether it is Chun’s Ex or switch cancels for Juri

Pros:

  • Excellent Zoning
  • Quick foot work
  • Solid Ground and Air control
  • Superb punishing capabilities
  • Both have Jump canceling capabilities
  • Corner opponents very easily (highly important)
  • Very fast meter building (also highly important)
  • Chun’s reach is superb for bringing Juri in setting up Jump cancel combos
  • Solid options for switch cancel (use your partners!)
  • Can turn the tides very quickly with 2-3 bars

Cons:

  • Low Stamina
  • My opinon requires really knowing their SSF4 counterparts.
  • Burst damage, Know how to bait - Rush Down when required but understand when/how to retreat!
  • Chun Li needs meter to do her best work
  • Juri’s Senpusha does limit Chun’s swtich cancel combos
  • Semi weak wake up game

Playing xaioyu/juri, learning them together is a pain. Xaioyu seems cheap as shit. I love it. Finally, two characters I like that do damage, has mix up and are actually decent!

Too bad xaioyu has a learning curve.

All those stance changes is what turned me off from her. I think I managed to get 14 of her trials done and thought – nope gotta pick someone else. Lol
Though I love watching a good Xiaoyu doing work.

Can anybody give me some advice on mt Juri Julia team?
I just picked up Julia and need to know how to link in her teeken combos into Juri so they have have a menage with their victims.

I’m in a similar position actually. Right now I’m using Juri to do most of the heavy lifting, and have Julia as extra damage and mixups until I get her more advanced work down. Hopefully I can help soon as well, though.

The learning curve is lowered once you understand that she needs her stances for combos and mix up. You should never be in a stance without good reason. I see no reason to use fortune cookie > turn of fortune. A simpler combo would be like c.hp xx rd stance > turn of fortune.

Also. You can hold db and switch stances like that. Counts as down and back so just hit p or k.

I’m just having problems with her links and break dance.

In the corner dp xx tag cancel is easy enough.

Mid screen you can do a low confirm with cr.lk xx cr.mk (unsafe to most sweeps but avoids most/all cr.mks for real damage punishes) and if it hits you can do cr.hpx2 to launcher into Juri. Any combo you do with Julia that you can work a qcb+p dash cancel party crasher (ff+mp) you can link cr.lk afterwards into a launcher as well.

Julia’s launcher doesn’t launch the opponent very high but luckily you can still do juri’s cr.hp jc jf.hp, cl.hp xx pinwheel tag in combo. You’ll probably have to plink the first two fp’s for consistency though.

Speaking of Cr. Hp jump canceling off tag ins. I couldn’t seem to hit some characters like Cammy the other day.
Anyone else having these issues with smaller characters midscreen/corner or was my execution just lazy yesterday? Haha (It Happens)

If you mean off a launcher Rayartz, some characters launch higher than others. So it might be your partner. The floaty-ness of the character being launched probably effects it too.

…yeah I know…that’s some Super/AE hitbox/mechanic worthy BS, but it is what it is. Doubt they’ll change it.

Yea it’s character specific for who you are hitting. If you are hitting an Ibuki or someone else tiny you have to be perfect on the cr hp and the jc hp. Anyone bigger and it gets really easy to do it consistently.

I’m playing Juri/Nina.
I don’t think they match up specially well but, In this game many many players are using Ryu, Ken, and Kazuya. Ryu and Ken are zoning characters that are difficult to reach, but Juri and Nina get into their face in a second. Kazuya is very strong and damaging character but lacks of quick moves, Nina has a 3 frames standing LP comboable in almost everything, which is Kazuya’s nightmare…

My best teammate for Juri is Kazuya. I have had alot of success with these two. He has good damage combos that work well to set her up as my meter user. I play a kinda dirty team because their mix-ups are so strong I rarely have to use meter at all for solid wins.

Ibuki has great mix-ups, and pairs well with Juri. They have a good damage output as well (higher than Cammy/Juri).

For example:
ground Ibuki combo/blockstring xx (reset) 421K xx tag Juri in > 2HP jc Dive > 2HP jc j.MP xx Dive > walk cl.HP xx Senpusha.
Ibuki blockstring xx 623HK xx tag Juri > cl.HP jc cross-up.
Ibuki ABC into 2HP xx tag Juri > cl.HP jc etc.
HK Senpusha on guard xx tag Ibuki > 236HK (dashes behind). It’s not safe but you get a free combo if they try to punish Juri. If they don’t, the Senpusha hides Ibuki’s dash which makes it hard to react to. Or she can blockstring the senpusha with 2HP jc crossup or any normal xx 236K dash for example.
Ibuki’s ground BNB hits hard and is easy to confirm while being blockstring:

Juggle can loop as long as EX is available and low scaling (4hits in the 90~150dmg range):

I actually posted some things in a Juri/Law thread recently but forgot to add it here… I’ll do that soon with some of the edits/thoughts I received on it.

CamJuri and JuriLaw are my main teams personally. JuriLaw has a lot of potential and a decent reset setup, I think.

I typically play as Chun/Juri, but if I get a room I’m clearly dominating in I throw in Ken and Law to mix thing up
like Chun-Ken, Juri Law - Ken/Law. Chun/Law, Juri Ken etc., Makes it more fun especially when my fingers start getting in knots and I forget which character is coming in off tags, haha!

I believe I touched all the edits so far (thanks you honorable Vulcan Hades!). Anything anyone can add/adjust, feel free (or if something is incredibly dumb, let me know that too!).

I was supposed to get back to testing some things but the past two weekends I’ve… had some issues (360 RROD temporarily on Sunday, and I was already sick the entire weekend lol). Hopefully get some more time this week to take some things back to the lab, try some more reset stuff with Juri/Law (started brainstorming this past weekend about something else I want to try off of SSK) and make a similar list up for Cammy/Juri. I’ve had no luck on any sort of reset opportunity with that team though, outside of lk or EX Pinwheel, both of which I really don’t like for that kind of thing. >__>

  • Note: just thought about that one (cr.mp, cr.mp xx HK SSK), forgot the damage numbers though :sweat:
  • (Law) cr.MK xx MP Fury Rush (TC Juri) EX Charge >> Super (401, 1 bars)

^ 2 bars. At that point it’s best to just TC Juri then TC Law back in, I believe…
