Which partner best Suits Juri: Combos and character order

EDIT: Never mind, I’m a moron lol. Corrected. XD

Still running Juri x Asuka all day, every day and I figured I’d drop all the synergy I’ve found…

Tag-cancel opportunities

Asuka > Juri

  • Thunderfall Kick (first hit, leads to full AA combo on hit, safe pressure on block)
  • cancan (kind of useless unless using as a safe tag)
  • onikubigari (leaves opponent standing unless used in a juggle, can lead to full AA combo as a juggle)
  • falling rain (super charge opportunity, extremely hard to time T.T)

Juri > Asuka
-mk/hk/ex senpusha (leads to jump-in combo on hit, overhead/throw/jump-in/crossup on block)
-hk.fuhajin (leads to f+lk xx f+lp on hit)
-close.hk (first hit, leaves opponent standing for ground combo followup)

-final cr.hk can be left out for oki opportunities

Asuka > Juri
j.hp > st.mp xx st.lp xx launcher > cr.hp xx jump cancel > j.hp > cl.hp xx lk.senpusha
448 dmg

Relaunch combos

Juri > Asuka
Launcher > f+lk xx f+lp > Launcher
294 dmg

  • must run-cancel the f+lk for max height or the launcher whiffs

Asuka > Juri
Launcher > cr.hp xx jump cancel > j.hp > launcher
340 dmg

I’m still playing Juri with Law. Either order works great depending on what tools you want to have to feel out your opponent. Law builds a lot more meter and (imo) has better pokes. Juri has better anti-airs and a projectile game. Personally I almost always have Law first. Law’s buffs in v.2013 are fairly extreme, especially for a character that wasn’t really weak to begin with. This will help offset Juri’s nerfs.

They have the coolest combos in the game too. :stuck_out_tongue:

I just picked the game back up yesterday and juri is my main in ssf4 and lili is my main in tekken so i blended my know how learned the controls now there perfect for each other.

Completely agreed. Not only have I gone back to this team, I’ve actually made it my permanent main team (sorry Cammy, really love ya but you’ve been put on the reserve squads for now). Now that I feel a little more comfy with Law, I generally have him on point for the same reasons you do - better pokes and a better neutral game overall. I like to start Juri against grapplers not named Gief, other heavy projectile users, and Ryu oddly enough lol.

And hell yes, such slick combos. <3

So because I put off learning the timing for so long I never knew this… but apparently Juri can get full jump cancel combos ( cr.hp xx j.hp > j.mk/j.hk > cl.hp xx lk.senpusha/store ) off Asuka’s falling rain tag cancel…
That makes full jc combos possible off:

  • f+hk overhead tag cancel
  • asuka’s normal BnB
  • any onikubigari juggle
  • any falling rain ender
  • ex-exorcisor wallbounce

…hello damage!

My main team is JurixKing. I’ll also run JurixYoshi. I’ll post some stuff about combos and such later.

Thats a rare team right there, interested to see what you’ve found with them

Oh, I’ve found plenty. giggles

I’ve been away for a while and I dont know if this has been addressed but I’ve been having problems mid screen confirming off of fuhajin store. I see Neo doing sweeps. I recently started doing this.

c.mk/s.mp/c.mp xx store > overhead > c.mk xx l.senpusha. I cant find a meterless confirm off of fuhajin store that is as consistent.

I also see that c.hp > jc > l.shikusen > c.hp doesn’t link mid screen anymore. Was this changed when they adjusted the push back on dive kicks? Mid screen without bar i’ve started doing this as a meterless punish

c.hp > jc > l.shikusen > sc.hp xx l.senpusha.

That one combo I use as my main Bnb. cr/cl/st. mp> Fuhajin kick> Sekku> cr.mk> L senpusha. yields 278 dmg and mix-up opportunites.

Coolness. So it has legs. I’m not missing out on anything better?

In terms of damage…no. But Mix-up opportunity? oh baby…Juri you make me sweat…

in terms of damage how is she earning more on meterless midscreen? And where is the mix up? Its a KD that can be teched or rolled.

In terms of dmg 278 I found to be her best midsreen damage. KD tech and roll? They tech and wish to to attack they eat either a kasatushi, a meaty attack or an ambigous cross-up. They don’t tech then you can safely store a Fuhajin and since your in range of her normals go nuts. They roll they can eat a throw.

To me thats not a strong mix up. You either have a jump in thats easy to read, or block…and lets not forget reversals are an option. When I think mix up I think 50/50 with heavy repercussions. It’s viable. But i mean, when we’re talking some of the cast having much better mix up’s, I wonder the strength of juri in sfxt

Her biggest strength is again and always in the corner. That’s where she can deal high damage, that’s where she can lock people down and tempt them to jump out, that’s where you can hit them with 4-5 overheads in a row and they’ll just hold down+back because they can’t backdash and are too scared to jump or stand block.

imo Juri’s partner should have good corner carry abilities. Either with their combos or special moves. You always want to have the position advantage.

That’s one of the main reasons why I played Yoshimitsu with Juri. He has EX Windmill to switch sides if I’m cornered. He can EX Suicide xx switch to give a magic corner midscreen to Juri. He can teleport behind. And most of his moves keep the opponent on the ground, allowing Juri to either combo into a cross-up to change sides or do a cr.hp jc reset. I always have full control of where I want to be with that team, even when I’m cornered.

Christie also has good corner carry. e.g. for lulz, see how much ground you can cover with: j.hk, s.hp, s.lp, s.lp, fs.mk, mk, s.hp xx EX Wheel Kicks. Almost corner to corner. End that with cr.lp, cr.hp xx LP DAS and raw tag to Juri. Let her do her thing in the corner.

And of course the other thing Juri is good at is building meter. With Juri you should never need to use meter for anything except occasional tag cancels or a desperate EX Senpusha xx tag. Kasatushi is still a free way out of overhead/low mixups. When I’m any other character and I’m fighting Heihachi, I’m terrified of his mixups. But with Juri I just laugh.

funny that you say that vulcan. My main sparring partner runs akuma xx heihachi. Im really scared of his heihachi. His akuma…well…its not that scary…but it’s still akuma. Im running Juri x lili so they both have counters. But shit…that high/low is serious.

I know right. Hei’s mixups are total BS and you can’t even backdash with most characters. But you need to abuse Kasatushi to a point where Hei expects it. You need to make him respect it. You need to make him scared of it. And if Hei respects your counter that means he will do a lot of long pauses and do nothing. He’ll constantly try to bait your kasatushis. And that will give you an opening to reverse pressure.

At least that’s what I was doing in vanilla. But to be fair I haven’t played the new and improved Hei so I don’t know how bad it is now lol.

So how do yall feel about juri carring king? Id say i like it, but my excecution is total ass
