execution went… SF2ce, SSF2, then any DBZ 2D fighter on S.Famicon (crazy meteor attacks inputs)
reaction went… SF2ce (more stars), 2nd DBZ 2D fighter (doubles speed), MvC2, SC2&3 (finally learned to parry)
As much as I like SFA2&3 don’t think it improved me like MvC2 did.
Reaction = MvC2
Execution = GG series

Keyboard ST Guile on GGPO.
I’ll have to say VF5 for execution and ST for reaction.

Vampire Saviour… although I’m not good at it.
And maybe ST.
Execution - KOF
Reaction - GG

Probably KOF for move execution. That game’s very strict for how moves are pulled off so you really have to practice with it a bit and can’t just jump into it.
I’d say SF2 just for reaction because I mained Zangief and I pull off throws like it’s nothing now.
Well, before I played fighting games seriously I had a hard time with certain other games. I remember getting smashed on in DMC3. Between getting into fighting games and my continuing love for rhythm games my execution and timing made most other games feel like cake.

CvS2 helped a lot with execution. Made 3s easy as pie.
My reaction time is due to a lot of games I think. GG:AC helped a lot in terms of fighters.

Cvs2 reaction, 3s hit confirming, Melty blood/arcana heart instant air dashing, throwteching (tekken) GG: for a little bit of everything.
Games improve execution? Really? I thought the only way to improve execution is to post retarded questions about how to use a stick in tech talk.
Ghaleon:
Marvel all day. I think there’s a lot of significance in that Justin learned MvC2 first and then expanded to other lots of other games. Learning Marvel and 3s at the same time helped exponentially with me reacting to stuff in 3s. Playing Marvel and then turning on 3s is like The Matrix where Neo sees the agents in slo-mo at the end and parries the shit out of them + Ryu mule kick.
I feel bad for a lot of people just picking up SFIV because even though through play they improve, they have a huge handicap since their reflexes haven’t been developed through faster games.
:nunchuck:
Marvel really does make you a better player no joke.

Dat Guilty. It was the first fighting game I took at all seriously.

So what does that say about a game like Vampire Savior which may help for Marvel
:karate:
On second thought, Vampire Savior has made me better in just about everything else I play anyway.
CVS2 for execution. Getting Geese Howard’s Raging Storm to come out consistently felt like such an achievement.

my, aren’t we the biggest fucking hater?
different games improve different forms of execution and reaction. they are more than “I do move I get move right all da time”
That shit is over in tech talk too? Thank god I don’t visit there, I get enough of those threads here in FGD.
To a degree the more I change characters the better my execution gets in general
I rarely play charge characters so my execution towards them suck.
Jump cancelling was a pain till I played a game where I had to jump cancel alot.
TK’ing was inconsistent till I played F/UC.
SFIV helped links.
Different games different execution.
