Which DLC character will YOU vote for?

What the hell happened to the Panzerfaust fans?!?! Not voting for PZ is a treasonous act punishable by execution by firing squad!

I’ll be happy as long as jolly ST Akumaeon loses.

The thought of Umbrella making the cut used to annoy me, but then I realized the game is already held in the same esteem as Arcana Heart. So why not.

I liked Arcana Heart though

Great game.

I did, too! And I would probably have played it more had it not belonged to the variable input delay/your opponent’s ping is none of your damn business school of netcode. I couldn’t handle playing with 360 SF2:HDR input delay one match, PS3 SF2:HDR style input delay the next.

… but just because I like something doesn’t mean that it’s not fetishy or fan service-y. Or that its appeal will not therefore be more selective than that of a game with more traditional and conservative art direction.

I think SG is guaranteed to be a niche fighter. Which is one of the reasons why I hope it keeps its low air dashes, ambiguous crossups, brutal resets and high damage output, because imo watering it down isn’t going to significantly increase its player base.

This attitude crops up a lot, but Mike Z has stated numerous times that Aeon will be balanced if she wins. She’s not going to be broken.

I voted Eliza. It was between her and Annie. I thought Annie was slightly more amusing as a character being a parody of both magical girls and hard-ass warriors but ultimately I’m more intrigued by Eliza’s prospective gameplay, even though I have some doubts about it.

I also voted for the different polling system for the next round. Hopefully it’ll make for a more interesting race this time. Sure, there’s a chance we could get almost identical results, but a chance still seems better than the virtual certainty we’d have if the current polling was done a second time. I could be mistaken but didn’t the poll say groups of characters would be voted on in pools? I can’t recall.

On a different note, why are people so fond of Beowulf? I don’t hate him but I don’t really see the appeal that propelled him so high. I’m just curious.

Well I still couldn’t decide between Annie and Eliza so I just took things back to basics and went for tits.

Everyone try this out

That’s the question, who is the Skull Girls player base? Definitely not Marvel players, or other top EVO games. If it’s going to be doujin fighter, then make it a doujin fighter. That means simplified controls, easy to land combos, silly damage, and insane pop culture anime supers. Doujin fighters are fun to play because you can pick up a character in less than a day’s time and start pulling off 50% damage combos with meter. This appeals greatly to a more casual audience.

The problem with Skull Girls is that the game itself is 6 buttons and 2 Assist buttons, it’s actually harder to play then say Persona 4. Virtually no neutral game, so your character is most likely to eat a 50% combo and then be reset into another 50%. It’s a game that says, “Hey I want to be taken seriously.”

I don’t understand Mike Z’s logic. Fighting games themselves are already a niche market, and he’s making a game that will appeal to the smallest number of FG community as possible. How is he supposed to survive with such a small market share? Maybe he really loves the taste of ramen?

I took the test, but I’m only going to post the relevant characters.

1 Panzerfaust
7 Eliza
10 Annie
30 Minette
30 Aeon

I think it’s funny that Minette and Aeon are both sharing last place on my likeability list.

**1 Annie ** (cynical sparkly magical demon hunter girl w/ scary rabbit)
1 Leduc (electric Doctrine Dark. Do want.)
1 Taliesin (yes, he belongs in a European BlazBlue, but we’re not getting one)
1 Beowulf (a decent-looking wrestler (i.e. not a hulking behemoth or a clown) who can actually use a chair!)
5 Roxie (constructing weapons over the course of a round has so far only (?) been done with SBX’ Motochika)
6 Yu-Wan (I can’t help it! a walking fish with Aquapazza Konomi curry super-style attacks!)
7 Beatrix (knives, counters, high risk/high reward playstyle)
**8 Minette ** (has grown on me lately)
9 Stanley (all around fun science/sports shark)
10 Black Dahlia (perhaps a bit too dark for SG? may not work without blood/gore)
11 Brain Drain (solid design and intriguing “possession” abilities)
12 Ileum (see Black Dahlia)
12 Hubrecht (mostly for laughs and some much-needed colour)
12 Regina (Mist Finers, animals and “Now jump through this flaming hoop!”)
15 Isaac (if only to see how his “time travel” gimmick would turn out)
16 Molly (“Mission Control” assist is original)
**17 Eliza ** (better suited to a White Wolf game, but still passable)
18 Panzerfaust (acceptable)
19 Adam (original concept, but not necessarily in a good way)
20 Umbrella (annoying, and one umbrella is enough)
20 Marie (BO-RING)
20 Hive (I detest bees and flight)
20 Scythana (alright playstyle but that design…)
24 Mrs. Victoria (SG is already overdosed on references to other moves)
24 D. Violet (interesting “humiliation” concept, but horrific design)
24 Ottomo (…meh)
27 Feng (generic kung-fu chick)
27 Aeon (cute but better as a future boss)
29 Venus (grotesque and better as a future boss)
30 Samson (why is he even a candidate, when we can only have two more characters?)
31 Andy (“I hate that damn anvil…”)

What?

I’ll play.

There’s a lot of characters I don’t care about…

that song on youtube pretty much assures me that Roll has won the voting.

A neutral game is a period where neither character is at frame advantage or disadvantage. A strong neutral game is usually established by giving all the characters some sort of Dragon Punch knock back attack, strong wake up options or making most of the attacks -negative on block. It’s the opposite of a vortex situation where your character is perpetually put into another mix up situation after the first mix up.

The benefits of a fighting game with a strong neutral game is that there’s a lot more back and forth between who’s on the offensive and who’s defending. I would say that a game with a very strong neutral game would be KOF XIII.

I know what the neutral game is, I want to hear why you think SG has no neutral game…I will just say that I disagree with that A LOT.
Making the right decisions in regards to spacing and movement is probably the most important thing in Skullgirls, in my opinion.

You can’t disagree with me saying that Skull Girls has a neutral game because I never claimed that the game did not have a neutral game.
But if you’re disagreeing because you know of a lot of modern fight games that has even less of a neutral game then Skull Girls, that would make more sense. I was making the comparison of Skull Girls to other popular fighting games, and I assure you the list of games with a lesser neutral game compared to Skull Girls will be extremely small.

Yey for Eliza winning round 1. Ok Beowulf fans it’s time to take Round 2!

Not what I said
