Misconception #1: Minette would just be a joke character
Now, this one has some merit, but then it doesn’t. I was on the fence about voting for her initially, but I really warmed up to her the more I learned. Some people don’t like Minette because she’d be clumsy or fight through customer cameos. But I think that disregards the fact that only a small amount of her gameplay inspirations actually do indirect fighting only - Hisui and Kohaku fight purposely, as does Roll. This also overlooks the fact that she has a Level Up system similar to Frank West which probably augments / replaces her moves with each level. Who’s to say she fights clumsy for long? I’d love to see her go from an awkward fighter with some funny moves to Jam from Guilty Gear. Mike Z said, repeatedly, that once he came up with her gameplay concept she went from a character he doubted to one of his top 5s he wanted to win - and if the guy who has no interest in moe or joke characters says that, then you know what, I believe him more than I do her haters.
Misconception #2: She’s not story important.
This one I don’t get. Yes, she is involved in Ms. Fortune’s story, but that is like arguing we should never get Umbrella because Umbrella can just appear in Parasoul’s story. Minette has some very interesting story questions to be answered: her father is the River King, the de facto leader of Little Innsmouth, and he’s rich enough to own an entire casino we’re getting as a stage. But all we know about him is that Minette is one of his daughters and that the Medicis try to kidnap her because of it. Did they kidnap her to get to him, or does she have some power of her own that they want? Ms. Fortune’s story might overlap somewhat with hers, but Ms. Fortune is more interested in stopping the Medicis -Minette might be the only way we’ll get actual backstory on Dagonians, the River King, and what happened.
Misconception #3: People only vote for her because she’s cute.
This one is the one I find to be the most unfair. saying someone voted for Minette because she’s cute is like accusing Beowulf fans of voting because he’s a furry. It’s a baseless accusation that ignores a lot of valid gameplay wants. Personally, the reason I want Minette in the game has nothing to do with moe or waifus, but instead that I’m a huge fan of her gameplay concept. Roll in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and Frank West in MvC3 were cool, awesome characters and I’m a big fan of the ‘evolving danger’ kind of character. Phoenix Wright, one of her gameplay inspirations, was a cool try to execute one of those who ultimately fell short - but I think Mike Z could do a fantastic job of making one to the quality we all expect from Skullgirls. Not to mention we don’t know how she evolves:

Does she become a more skilled, serious fighter like the above-mentioned Jam when she’s confident?

Does she have some secret power that comes out, like water control by Rikuo in Darkstalkers?

Or does she tap into her heritage as the daughter of the River King, who apparently looks like this on the left? Minette might have a genuinely scary side at MAX level, which would fit the Lovecraft origins of the Dagonians.

Dude these characters have been known for a month. People thta decide they dont like a character are probably not going to be swayed in the slightest by being told to keep an open mind. For instance i already decided I dont like Isaac or Aeon. And there is jack shit you can do to make me feel otherwise
Well my bad, it’s just that people need to at least look at a certain character instead of automatically making them seem worthless. Look at the previous post and you’ll understand.
But never mind, heard this was a three day per round vote, isn’t that quite fast compared to the last one? Not complaining, but round when it was the final round, I got mine two days before the round was over. Plus people may want to keep their options open to see what they really think is best.

Really, the Minette haters aren’t going to make Minette lovers hate her and vice-versa. Same with arguments over every character, they’re all pointless because they’re nothing but opinions. But we have nothing else to do here until the vote ends, so we argue. This is the true horror of the waifu wars.
Like in politics, the best way to win is to appeal to the swing voters. Having your favorite character be in the majority’s top 5 is the way. At the very least, get them close enough so that when characters get eliminated, your character moves up in their placement.
In the vein of the above comments, I have to ask, is there anybody on this forum who is staunchly anti-Brain Drain? He’s become the one I’m pulling for the most and he’s so far been in everybody’s top 5. if this is how everyone else votes he may actually make it to the final pool just by the nature of the voting.
Brain Drain is on my list at #2 after Panzerfaust. He could be a surprise as being the guy everyone “kinda likes” but no one votes for as their #1.
This is probrably the best reason to vote for Minette (that and the person who made her thread here). I honor the person who wrote this, hope more people show love for her and what she is truly capable of (and hopefully no more ignorant trash comments lol)
And on the Brain Drain topic he is my 2nd so I hope he wins. I love his arrogant style and his Dr.Doom style. Plus this game could use an evil genius. Also his mind reading and manipulating is extremely cool.
