Where will the FGC be in 5 years?

Wait… WHAT??? I like my normal, well cooked and spiced food

Well, the flying cars/floating arcades thing.

The pill food, not so much :stuck_out_tongue:

Uhhhhh… No.

Yep, they also use it for EX CvS2 tourneys too with 3 people while playing drunk. Desora is too cool yo.

i dont mind the flying cars and buildings but i dont want my meals to be in pill form, thats no fun.

I think the community itself will be fine, but arcades in America will become even more irrelevant. My arcade shot itself in the face by selling all it’s fighting games.

There’s always new blood coming into the scene, the trick is getting them to stay and keep interest. When my arcade was worth a shit you could find new people playing but someone seasoned would come along and shut them down so they’d give up. I mean, you shouldn’t have to go easy on someone, because you can’t learn anything if you’re babied, not to mention there’s a quarter on the line. But kids today just don’t have that drive to keep trying like they used to in the 90’s.

I’m not worried about the scene though thanks to improved online technology like GGPO and whatever HD remix is running on. Kids might be more encouraged to stick with the games since there’s some anonymity to it and you don’t have to pay anymore than the initial price for the game.

Our future is online.

a lot of old games get revived with PC emulation
there will always be people playing these games online on GGPO/2DF

can’t wait for Naomi games to be playable!

As long as SRK doesn’t someday implode on itself, there will always be a fighting game community. This site grows day by day.

Japan, they got trains that goes over all the nation, while USA… the country is a TAD too big for that, not to mention it doesn’t go everywhere either. Definately console based in America while in Japan, Korea, etc. the arcade can live on.

It’s been five years. Where is the FCG now?

No Kappa icons in 3D yet.

Wow, I thought this was a new post. Blast to the past.

Well… Fighters have gotten easier, Japan is slowly embracing roll back netcode and PC release, more indie fighters, American-made fighters averaging on a decent-to-good scale, arcades all but dead, but more pockets of dudes at get togethers. Shockingly enough, SNKP finally came through with good netcode for a change.

In another 5 years I’m guessing even more F2P titles, an even wider acceptance of roll-back netcode and PC releases, and a new IP or two making waves.

Maybe five years from now, we’ll have a true arcade perfect port of 3rd Strike.

Even collecting the dragon balls wouldn’t grant us that wish

five years already!?

I guess I was right

Tekken Revolution, Killer Instinct, Xuan Dou Zhi Wang in China, all of them are a step beyond to the future, that is free to play online fighting games. Easier to pick up

Maybe in five years, Sirlin Snake Shirt will be unbanned

I have to ask, why does anyone care about a port when they could just play the game on GGPO? I’m not a 3S player, but I have played it on GGPO and thought it was solid, but there is usually only about 30 people online. Seems like if everyone that was waiting for a port would play the game on GGPO, the server would be hot like the KOF2002 server.

Because even the GGPO implementation of 3S sucks since Ponder doesn’t have access to the source code.

So answer me this(and I’m not trying to be difficult or judgmental), are the ports or the GGPO emulation so bad that the game is better left alone? I’m just trying to wrap my mind around why some of the community for 3S would rather wait for a better port than play the existing ones.

Online. The FGC will be online.
