we already had this discussion and I suppose we will never agree
yes he did a ton of shoryukens but many, many of them where in reaction to something and not "random"
he was doing ton of things on reaction, and yes he has sick reactions - mine, yours, most of peoples aren’t as quick and such can’t do the same things [and I mean offline on a perfect crt setup, don’t ever consider lcd and/or online utter crap] but I analized it a lot. And by watching and watching again it became quite obvious that many of “seemingly” random srk’s that hit… where actually in reaction to some specific animations
maybe one day we’ll rewatch the footage together and I’ll point out those
anyway, sorry but not even jesus himself can see the starting frame of chun’s standing mk and think “oh,he’s going to cancel it into the throw” and react with a shoryuken
and i don’t think you can react to a couple other things in the game [dudley’s hk overhead ?]
if you
have a great sense of the game
you are japanese
you guess right loads of times
some people will eventually start thinking you see and react to those things
you can see before it happens though. because you have read the person. you know where they like to do something. you know when they like to do it. then its just a matter of reacting to ANY movement they make. which you can do when you’re looking for it.
i’d guess some of them were honest anticipated reactions. you don’t think rikimaru fidgeted at all? or that he has any tendencies that can be exploited?
a random shoryu is when it isn’t based on any information at all. it’s just out of nowhere. those are extremely rare. it’s very hard to play the game and shoryu at random. you’re doing shoryu because you believe you know what they will do. it just takes balls not to doubt yourself and do it.
well, that one of course was a blind bait that went well
I’m not saying that he never ever does a random sho, he does of course, like everyone does and should every now and then, and certainly he’s good at reading too
and yet most of the time he goes for it in a low risk situation, usually when the opponent has no super loaded
I’m watching again Deshiken vs God power boss last year, and the number of really random srks I can count… seems quite standard to me, not crazy high or anything. He does a bit of anti-air srk (and that is a fair choice, it’s a good tool if mixed up with other things). He’s doing lots of reactionary ones however, and yes there are things you can react to if you are focused enough. If Kuroda’s Hugo could tachi gigas in reaction to dash-ins, why can’t deshiken srk in reaction to a dash? hell, **I **can do that on a good day. Being able to confirm Ken’s cMK into shippu means having good reactions, Deshiken can do that… so it comes no surprise that he has fast reactions to other stuff as well.
And much comes from being trained in a particular aspect, things get easier and easier to see. You won’t react even to the slowest overhead if you’re not used to it.
I can’t check the extact window since I can’t access my copy of the 3s Gamest Mook right now, but Q’s close MK is listed as one of the late-cancellable, hitconfirmable moves
i think that’s a little harder than ken low forward to react to.
but if you practice it constantly, why not?
with ken you have something like a 6-8 frame window? i think Q close mk is about the same, give or take a few frames. i think it also has a relatively easy to see hit reaction which i imagine helps a bit when you’re under some pressure.

Is it not true that everything Ryu can do Ken can do better or easier? Traditional zoning is not really a precedent in this game. So Ryu is kind of on the backburner though I personally like him in 3s.
14 frames.
His LP dash punch is 13 frames (same as Ken’s cr.MK) which he confirm into a lot.
edit: actually it’s one frame more for all if you count negative edge, so 15 for cl.mk and 14 for cr.mk or lp dash punch
Just checked. miscommunication. I didn’t think when saying x move can’t be reversaled it was meant to always be understood the move used at max distance/range.
Remys st far mk and low mk can both be reversaled by jinrai so long as its not at the max distance.
There is a list on the mook on how many frame you have to react when certain moves hit, a list that obviously counted hitstop a.k.a hitfreeze (that dramatic slowdown thing that is not in the framedata itself, happening only on hit) into equation
like Chun’s cMK gives you 18 frames to react while Ken’s has only 13, explaining why chun’s is easier to confirm than Ken’s even though they both have the exact same cancellable “window” according to your site - from frame 7 to frame 15, with Chun even having a gap in between. And yet everyone finds Chun’s way easier to confirm
edit: ok, just saw the edit, but why would you want Chun’s cr.mk not easier to confirm if she got those 3 additional frames?
edit2: hm, do you look at the whiffed data or hit/blk data? Cancel windows only makes sense on hit/blk.
If you think that’s bad, see Guiru, Urien, or Shin Gouki… complete with broom.
And apparently Yun Yang turn into their gfs complete with shumai hat.
Man up:
Niji - Injin aka RED aka Ibuki pro JP but really discriminatory to the original Americas inhabitants, if we go too far about only an opposite but equal color. Coming over on that Land bridge from Asia/Japan though…
